LD26 — Minimalism

Cube Colors by PabloAlexandre31 2013-05-01T03:58:00

Clean, simple, clever, and well suited to the theme. The introduction taught me what I needed to know quickly and I enjoyed the puzzles and music as well. Great work!

Go Get Em by CrazyGage 2013-05-01T04:21:00

I wanted to check it out but I don't want to create new accounts. Please add a "Play as guest" option. Thanks!

Aqueous by Nickardson 2013-05-08T05:24:00

Pipes, poop, and potatoes. What more could a minimalist game need? Agreed with the others that puzzle 3 gets too hard too fast. It would also be nice to have more options and ambient audio while you are working out a solution. Thanks for sharing!

The Room by olkeencole 2013-04-30T05:32:00

Really interesting. Well matched with the theme. I kept mashing that button over and over. Loved the theme joke. Loading in the web player took forever..but it was worth it.

Crystal Of Shadows by Serilyn 2013-05-08T05:13:00

Interesting variation on the tower defense theme and the mechanics tie into the compo theme. Sound effects play at a very loud volume. Thank you for sharing!

A Trigger Darkly by azurenimbus 2013-04-30T03:50:00

Very clever take on the theme. Sound is great and the concept is compelling. If I had 2 requests they would be: shorten the intro and allow for one practice shot on each new type before they kill you. Great job!

Squeeps by Ryusui 2013-04-30T05:46:00

Funny! I liked the look, the squeeping, and trying to run away with a full belly while excusing myself.

DeaN by Sakuyan 2013-05-01T05:19:00

Awesome graphics! I was able to play game mode just fine but story mode had no enemies in it. Would love to hear some audio as well. Great job on making an interesting world. Thanks for sharing!

.MONDR by Haette 2013-05-08T05:18:00

Nice job connecting the theme, visuals, and sound together. Agree with the other post that says the screenshots do not do the game justice. Thanks for sharing!

Doad by magicdweedoo 2013-05-08T05:32:00

A bit odd, but certainly unique. It would be great if you could restart without refreshing the browser. Some audio would help too. You certainly went minimal on this one!

S by rodrigomotta 2013-04-30T03:51:00

Could not run. It pointed me to an empty browser directory.

S by rodrigomotta 2013-05-01T04:19:00

Loved the look and music! I couldn't figure out what to do after grabbing the heart and the S shape. I turned on the computer but then I couldn't interact with anything else. Even grabbing the S shape took a lot of clicks to pick up. Thanks for sharing!

Join by Perry 2013-04-30T04:51:00

Nice work! Good use of visuals and audio that work well with the theme. Failing is also fun because of the way the sounds play. It wasn't entirely clear what reset the squares on some levels, but I assume it is time.

<Title> by rukbotto 2013-04-30T04:06:00

Nice work! Bumping into walls was fun because of the animation and sound. I had a good time on the first level and then bumped around for quite a while without finding a flashlight on the second. Suggest adding a single guaranteed flashlight near the player at the start. Interesting concept!

We Need Potato by pl0xz0rz 2013-05-01T19:34:00

Interesting idea that could benefit from more forgiving mechanics. Some possible suggestions: call out health more clearly, remove loss of health from moving around, make it easier to find a weapon (I couldn't find it anywhere in the 2nd level so I had no way to recover health). Also, the tutorial screens are jarring and I died several times immediately after the one that introduced me to the purple enemies because I was disoriented when going back to the game. Thank you for sharing!

Super Sword and Shuriken by Ravenous Games 2013-04-30T03:57:00

Wow! Graphics look fantastic. Enjoyed playing through the different rooms. Didn't like having to fight enemies a second time when backtracking. Do the doors open randomly?

I wondered how I could go into some of the doors that didn't open. Would like to hear some sound effects.

Continue did not work for me - it just hung on the last screen (I was on a boss like creature wielding 2 swords). Awesome job!

Mondrian Madness by ThatOtherPerson 2013-04-30T04:01:00

Nice work! I couldn't tell which square I controlled at first. I was also able to eat squares of the same color. Enjoyed the look of the squares as they moved across the board and also liked how you tied speed to the colors. Would like to see some audio added. Thanks for sharing!

The Clicky Box Bundle by haloflooder 2013-05-01T19:41:00

Well done! Nice presentation and clever use of the theme. If I had one request, it would be for more audio.

Balls! by Codexus 2013-04-30T04:17:00

Nice looking game! I enjoyed pushing the ball around until it got stuck against a wall. I thought to myself..needs a reset button. Then I opened the menu and found the reset level option. It would still be nice to have a little more control over moving the ball (a pull maybe? a kick?). Nice job taking the generated content and polishing it up. The initial load on low res is pretty long (running 12 mb/s internet too). Great work!

Sunset Death by DrGeraud 2013-04-30T04:22:00

Love the look! It's also nice to see a multiplayer entry. Couldn't understand what I needed to do at first. Keys didn't perform the same action on occasion - sometimes I would walk backwards and other times I would slash. Would also like to see some audio. Thanks for sharing!

M by Xeke_Death 2013-05-01T04:10:00

Nice take on the theme. The options are interesting and mix up the gameplay in fun ways. Music is good too and helps establish the mood.

ClicketyClick by hannar 2013-05-01T03:40:00

Is there any screen besides the Click to play! one?

Pete Hated Circles by bgr 2013-05-01T04:13:00

Nice job! Love me some screen splitting action (used to love Qix back in the day). It got a little confusing when I had to clear a room with multiple balls, so it would be nice to let you know if you have effectively split one ball screen enough. Would also like some audio and a way to restart without reloading. Nice job!

The Epic Journey of the Narcoleptic Cyber Kitten: Floppy Disk Deluxe by theRestlessTaxidermists 2013-04-30T04:33:00

Interesting idea. I couldn't get the game to start for a while (suggest making the start click area larger and also accepting enter/space as input). I also kept getting caught on the edge of platforms and losing score. Didn't quite understand what the point of the floppy disk is. Interesting idea overall though - I like the idea of minimizing actions.

Listmamini by Titi_Alone 2013-05-01T04:24:00

Couldn't quite understand the objective. I liked carving out the level and I was able to collect a bronze and a gold, but then I didn't see anything else to collect even after destroying a lot of the level. Thanks for sharing!

Life by caporaltito 2013-05-01T04:55:00

Interesting take on the Life game. Like others, the I feel like the biggest downer is the speed, but it was fun to check out. Thanks for sharing!

LoneStranger's Drag by LoneStranger 2013-04-30T04:55:00

Nice job! The game fits the theme and makes me want to keep trying to beat my score. I didn't understand what to do at first, but the hints helped with that :).

Black Square by Parappa 2013-04-30T05:05:00

Nice job! Loved the look and audio. I downloaded the web version and ran it in Chrome. I expected the web version to be a website link, but I got a download instead. I also saw the cropping mentioned here, but it was only a problem on the start and monitor screens. Good work!

Pointcom: The 1-Page Minimalist Game by NRathbone 2013-04-30T19:31:00

Minimalist indeed! Nice job on coming up with something unique. The quirks and scenarios are entertaining.

Psyniter by Frosnite 2013-04-30T04:59:00

Nice! I like the guitar sounds and the flowing background. Ran fine in Chrome. Would like to hear some music and see a score or some other type of objective. Thanks for sharing!

Life/Routine by lightnarcissus 2013-04-30T04:27:00

Interesting premise. I couldn't get destroy to work (and right click in a window brings up the Unity web player settings, but even in full screen I couldn't get it to work). Thanks for sharing!

OnlyOne by mrexcessive 2013-05-01T19:59:00

Nice concept! It took me a while to understand what was going on, but then it grew on me as I figured out how to move around. Specifically, I had a hard time understanding the idea behind storing up key actions, and it still isn't clear to me what makes them disappear, which makes planning a strategy harder. Trial and error worked pretty well though, and I enjoyed the experience. Thanks for sharing!

Way Out by Dabuuker 2013-04-30T05:13:00

Well done! The mood is excellent due to the nice combo of the graphics + audio. Would like a checkpoint or two :).

Dream Island by FREEZX 2013-04-30T05:36:00

Nice! The game is indeed trippy, in a good way. Love the look and sound. I feel like I'm running around in this weird, happy world. Played it through the web link. The camera feels like it is a bit close to the character. Thanks for sharing!

Potato Yoga by magnpeas 2013-05-01T04:03:00

Interesting twist. I over thought the first one as well, and it was hard to guess the rest. Good way to combine your interests and get people to learn more about yoga.

Mrazish by rupazero 2013-05-08T05:05:00

Why am I penalized for eating potatoes..so wrong! Fun idea. The game locked up on me after eating 8 strawberries. I had eaten about 2 potatoes before that streak. It would be great to have more audio in the game. Thanks for sharing!

Cube Labyrinth by GreyBody 2013-04-30T19:41:00

Thanks for sharing! Enjoyed poking around the mazes. It would be nice if the character could stick to the path a bit closer rather than having to line him up. Audio would be great too. Otherwise, it's a nice minimalist take on the maze game. Good work!

Minicontrapt by R4PaSs 2013-04-30T19:46:00

Nice! Fits well with the theme, has unique audio, and the levels offer good variety for the game mechanics. Some of the text is a bit hard to read but otherwise it's a solid entry.

PNG by dscripps 2013-05-02T15:34:00

Couldn't load it - got the wrong wmode value error as well.

Bicolor by gdelavald 2013-05-02T15:39:00

Interesting idea. When you hit the levels where you have to shift regularly in mid-air, it starts to show potential. If I only had a way to restart the same level, I would want to play it more. Thanks for sharing!

m i n i m a l i s m by SilentBunny 2013-04-30T19:52:00

Interesting idea. A couple of notes: I didn't know how to run the game at first. I tried to open the HTML file from Google docs and I saw the raw HTML, and then I tried to download and everything worked fine. Once in game, I didn't know what to do beyond clicking the first couple of letters. Can you string together a longer story? Also, some words only showed the word (microscopic) but had no sentence. Rewind did not work for me either. The screenshot you show above looks interesting - does it branch out in that way in browser? Thanks for sharing!

Ma Mini Slim by LaceySnr 2013-04-30T20:04:00

Fun! Feels like Monkey Ball hard mode. Would like to see some instructions in game and audio. Bonus points for the quick load in Unity (several Unity games have taken minutes to load for me). Nice take on the theme.

Little Ninja by tmmyy 2013-04-30T19:57:00

Nice! Fits well with the theme. I didn't think it was possible to reach the first platform until I learned about a way to jump higher. Doing all those jumps is a bit painful (literally), but I suppose it's not easy being a ninja. Thanks for sharing!

The Minimalist by Dans17 2013-05-08T05:06:00

Doh. Scratch website down until May 9th.

Minimal Blocks! by messiano 2013-04-30T03:38:00

Fun! Enjoyed the different types of jumping platforms and interactions. I wish the character moved with the platforms while you are standing on them to make jumps easier to time. Also, jump does not work when you are holding two arrow keys at the same time (in a diagonal).

Steve Can't Zen by DaanVanYperen 2013-05-02T15:11:00

Lol. Clever. Well matched to the theme and entertaining all around.

simple by emmelineprufrock 2013-04-30T05:09:00

Interesting idea. I would like to read the instructions right side up before printing + cutting out though :).

Sense Certainty by Behemoth 2013-04-30T20:16:00

Interesting. I completed it. Took me a few tries of making different choices. Thanks for sharing!

City Walk by MaxSzlagor 2013-04-30T05:14:00

Thanks for playing! I'll look into the moonwalking. It's a little too bad since I am using the default Constructor 2 platform controls.

City Walk by MaxSzlagor 2013-05-01T05:21:00

Thank you to everyone that played the game. Please consider rating it if you haven't (in whatever categories you feel are appropriate). For those of you that wanted more interactions, what specifically would you like to see? I have a lot of ideas for expanding the experience, but I'm curious what your thoughts are.

. by PistachioRoux 2013-05-01T19:37:00

Minimal indeed. Thanks for sharing!

ColorMeld by ThreeUp 2013-04-30T05:43:00

Interesting idea. I couldn't figure out how to reliably move the colors. The mixing concept is neat. Played it in the web player.

Defenders of Order by DNA Yarn 2013-05-08T05:28:00

Nice aiming mechanic, art, and audio! It would be nice to have an easier way to recover and some way to track score, but otherwise this is a unique entry that matches well to the theme.

Nimin: A minimal sidescroll shooter by Haversack 2013-04-30T20:08:00

Graphics fit the theme nicely. Sound effects are a bit loud (had to turn down Windows volume quite a bit). Good work and thanks for sharing!

Dream Fishing by Sophie Houlden 2013-05-03T15:20:00

Beautiful game. Perfect fit for the theme in all respects. If I had one gripe, it would be that catching the fish seems a little too random and unresponsive, but everything else about this entry is pure joy. Thank you!

Min by ekun 2013-04-30T04:47:00

Cool game! Love the look and sound. The boss is a bit beefy. Do I detect a Meat Boy music homage?

The Shadows by KevinWorkman 2013-05-01T19:51:00

Interesting idea. If you could host it in a way that didn't require installing multiple files that would be even better. Thank you for sharing!

Alien Raid by LTyrosine 2013-05-01T03:51:00

Mood is excellent - the graphics and music match well. I had a hard time knowing what to build and I couldn't figure out how to make extra astronauts (even though I built the building that makes them). Enemies also seem to take a lot of hits to kill. Nice job on creating a minimal RTS - seems like you put a lot of depth into the game given the amount of time you had. Nice work!

MinimalRPG by Awennor 2013-05-01T19:47:00

Nice work! Went straight for the cake and enjoyed the story. One thing that would make it a little more convenient is allowing you to use any key to advance text. Thank you for sharing!

Jetpack Survival by BlennosoftGames 2013-04-30T03:30:00

Nice! Enjoyed dodging the missiles and stomping some tanks. Couldn't hear any audio.

The Road by GeorgeBroussard 2013-05-02T15:16:00

Nice death messages and fitting music. Thanks for sharing!
