Interesting concept! Do you work in this industry? Seems like knowledge that not everyone posses. (Btw you may want to review some games to increase you game's exposure on the main page smart filter)

I love how you interpreted the theme, really good idea :D Kind of hard to keep up with everything going on the screen, but pretty nice ^^ Survived 183 seconds \o/

Fun concept! It's quite fun seeing how more data flows as you get better reputation etc. though I almost entirely ignored the newsbar. I did notice there was a DDOS attack or something but there was so much text it was hard to tell if any of the information was important or not, potentially come up with additional ways of indicating important events to reduce the wall of text.

Amazing idea for a game! I would love to see the game more polished and as a full featured simulation game for example in Steam! I hope you keep working on it!

Great and fun! Interesting trying to figure out how to maintain your server structure. So far, I alived 308 seconds, but I plan on playing some more later.

This game is pretty addicting O.o! Was able to build a pretty stable empire at one point and then I didn't really have to do much anymore, which was a pitty. Survived 1000 seconds, longest I've played a game this jam yet :)!

Great game concept. I didn't understant what I really had to do or what was happening (Didn't read the newsbar at all). Just bought lots of servers, hubs and a few firewalls... Navigating the build menu could take some love. Good job !

I like how you've brought the real-world server load balancing problem into your game in a fun tycoon-esque way. Very realistic with all the switches and server scales and FIFOs and such. The tech side of this game is really good - making a n-way tree is easy enough in a backend program but getting the frontend to rearrange and represent that without getting into horrible overlaps and distortions is really impressive.

I agree that balance is the main place for the game to improve. At first I thought that the FIFOs were equally important but lost the game very quickly because they drain upkeep cost without enough benefit. There's also a limit where the load and income stop increasing and all servers beyond that drain your money. I ended up selling half my servers and going with this config which might not last forever but was fine to keep running while I wrote this review:

As a professional backend developer I like seeing a game with this stuff.

Excellent idea! I had a lot of fun finding out the best strategy for this!

I found a strat to stay alive indefinitely:

- A professional firewall - A six-port switch - 5 three-port switches - 10 Serverstations

Just a question: I didn't hear any audio in the game. Why did you not opt out from the Audio category?

Thank you all for your amazing feedback! We couldn't imagine there would be this many positive reactions in this early state of our game.

If you have some ideas for additional components, attacks or mechanics please share them!

@matt2728 We are currently studying computer science, so we have some knowledge about the topic. Thank you also for the smart filter info :)

@spectralcascade The news bar was a bit buggy in that version and had no importance at all. We might replace it with an email system in the future.

@greendinogames We'll keep working on the game and new versions will be uploaded on itch.io. Maybe we could upload it on steam or another platform someday. But we don't know, yet.

@neuronezero This is definitely something we want to improve. We are planning to make the game more beginner friendly. Unfortunately we had no time for that during the game jam.

@gentel We are glad you like the game. We are aiming towards keeping it technical including configurations for hard and software. We don’t really know how to combine it with beginner friendliness yet.
