Very cool idea! You probably should push it further after jam and the overall feeling of VS is good (way better than in most of the released clones in steam, lol)
I love the "survivors" genre, and this was a very unique take on it. It felt a lot more active, while still feeling like it belongs in the genre so to speak. Almost like a cross with a tower defence. I played quite a while, it's addictive; which is a great compliment.

Wonderful game! I will never say no to a final stand, or a chance to sing my swan song! I love how many different tactics you can create with the available options to summon. I really enjoy the tactics involved when trying to use the foliage to your advantage, while constantly being surrounded. :deciduous_tree: :crossed_swords:
The music is enjoyable and adds suspense, the sound effects are clear and help you keep track of what's going on, neither of them overpower eachother.
The artwork is effective at conveying what you want it to, while looking good.
If you keep working on this game, it would be awesome to see you play even more with the foliage affecting the combat, both to your benefit and detriment. Such as setting logs on fire, or using bigger bombs that create holes where the enemies fall into and die, but you can't collect their souls! Lots to play around with when you have a great core game such as this once there is no time restriction for development!

I tried to play this game from my laptop and wheel-scrolling controls were backfiring. Sometimes I ended up summoning the wrong summon (over-scrolled), the other time I was trying to make the game recognize my "scroll" gesture on the touchpad.
I think I would have different experience with a dedicated mouse. Although hotkeys like 1, 2, 3, and 4 for summons could make things easier for me without the need to open/scroll the selection wheel.
I couldn't figure out whether there is any progression (level ups, etc) or not. I would think that collecting souls would give something, but maybe I was dying too early in the game. My second guess was that I need to make sacrifices to get extra power, but it looks like they're there just to get healing.

Difficult to play on my trackpad, but that's sort of a me problem. Great job!
The game is really challenging, liked that there are several summons, turret is my favorite :smile:

I feel like this game is a summoning version of "survivors" game. Very challenging but super fun. Art and audio are very nice and suitable. I just wish there could have been some ways to recover health since I feel like I have a desire to play it endlessly. Nice entry! This is one of my favorite games in the jam.
My highscore was 2740 after a few lives. This was quite fun. Took me a moment to realize that to get a net gain of souls, my summons had to earn their cost back. The sword is always inefficient/even trades and the turret was the best because it didn't always take damage when fighting, so could theoretically earn back more than 10 souls. I enjoyed the art and sound, and the risk/reward of using the obelisks.

Really solid game! I could spend a lot of time playing this. I like the variety of different summons and strategies, the roller ended up being my favorite. I just wish the slimes were a different color, I kept walking into them because they blend into the grass when there are a lot of other higher contrast elements on the screen.

Nice defense survivor game. Summoning turret seems to be essential for survival cause it's efficient. If only it's more accurate.

Cool idea and it has challenge. Simple design, not comfortable ( for me) controls, when you use scrollwheel. I old keyboard player, and for the first time didn't get that you summon creature not near your wizard, but near ring of summoning. Otherwise just cool game !
Question: What are you supposed to do when you run out of souls for summoning, for example because you spammed Enchanted Blade? Should you just accept your death? Or is there a way to passively get souls?
@steffo it's a good point - I guess your main way is to just let imps kamikaze themselves and build up souls that way, until for example you get your own bomber where you can take out multiple enemies.
