It's definitely a game I could see myself playing on my phone, well done!

Pretty cool and casual game. I agree with N.O.X, this is the type of game I would play on my phone on breaks and stuff, good job!

Interesting game! Instantly reminded me of Dani's "Off the Balls", both in concept and general look / feel.

Aside from a few issues at the start, when I had no upgrades, and the occasional soft-lock leap of faith into the unknown, I quite enjoyed the game and, as others pointed out, I could see myself playing this on my phone.

Additionally, I didn't feel like the music got repetitive, even after a few gruelling segments. It also helped set the mood surprisingly well!

The game also seems to have quite a lot of content, I didn't get to explore quite all of it, so extra points for that!

jbartelsson 2024-10-09 13:03

First it looked like Dyson, a game i used to play as a child, but then It had a completely different concept! Very neat game, I enjoyed moving around and after I read the help I also understood what I had to do :D Small little criticism is the placement of the shop, for me it should also appear on the restart menu as I didnt find it and the help menu in my first iterations of playing. Good job overall!

thesand 2024-10-09 13:20

Impressive game, I liked that you put time into making a good settings page! Also the gameplay felt super nice, sure a bit more coins would've been nive for play testing. But overall a really good entry! Well done :)

planetary 2024-10-09 13:26

@calcopod, thank you for playing the game! I appreciate that! Well, I saw one month ago on YouTube about "Balls" by Dani and my game is slightly inspired by it.

@jbartelsson, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed playing the game. I think as the first game menu it should send you to the help menu (and I meant to do it, but I didn't have time).

planetary 2024-10-09 13:37

@thesand, thanks for playing!

mullenratte 2024-10-09 13:48

Fun game with a solid concept! I enjoyed playing it :)

For the visuals: For me personally, a low res pixel art style with some 8 / 16-bitty sound effects would've fit perfectly. Also, the Black - Neon Blue contrast is really exhausting for the eyes. I turned off post processing (thanks for including that setting!), but it was still quite intense.

Gameplay wise: I think the upgrades felt alright, but didn't really make me wanna grind more to see their effects, if you know what I mean. Some more unique unlocks would've been great, like: - being able to slightly steer the ball after shooting it - some way to make more money (passive income, higher chance for money to spawn, gain 1 $ per 10 m traveled etc)

Overall a fun experience, good job!

chrisbeck 2024-10-09 14:17

This is the sort of game I can see myself getting sucked into for a while :joy: Kind of reminds me of the old flash game bubble tanks. Really simple but really fun! Good job!

planetary 2024-10-09 14:39

Hi @mullenratte, thanks for playing! Today I started playing my game on mobile and (even I found some bugs, sorry about that) that deep cyan color was very exhausting. :sob: When I built this project on PC, that color wasn't very intense (because I have the night light on). I think that turning on the night light on your phone could soften this contrast. About passive incoming and steering would be great in a future version. Thank you for your feedback!

@chrisbeck, thanks for playing my game!

rotaaaaaaaaaaaa 2024-10-11 19:10

that‘s a really good game!!!i like the way you design the moving patterns of the balls lol, definitely a game I would spent hours on while being bored or waiting for a bus

roitchie 2024-10-11 19:21

I spent way too long playing this. For a simple game it's really fun. I couldn't figure it out at first but the instructions really helped. Well done!

mibi88 2024-10-11 20:14

I found the secret hehe. But the game is way too unbalanced, sometimes I got killed by a laser after spawning, and my hiscore is 4. The graphics are great, same for the audio. Well done!

2024-10-12 05:52

Hi! Can you add the controls to the README somewhere? I can't figure out what to press to shoot...

2024-10-12 06:07

Really like the visual distinctiveness of all the elements. Gameplay required decision making and sometimes taking a risk. Surprisingly polished. Also liked the music.

steffo 2024-10-12 06:09

Ahhhh! Minigolf roguelite...! Dangerously addicting and fun! Well done!

I can see people playing this for quite a while, but there are a couple things that in my opinion need to be changed:

- running out of ammo and just sitting there helpless in the map feels very bad; having some kind of reload would improve things a lot (a special cell, maybe?)

- more types of cells! right now, moving from a cell to the other is very easy most of the time. but what if some of them ***moved***? now you'd need to predict where it will be when you arrive there!

blazerker 2024-10-12 06:28

Overall, it is a great game... simple yet challenging. Well done!

icxon 2024-10-12 07:16

It seems I am under a heavy influence of 'skill issue' with this one. The aiming was a bit off for me and the purple beams are too harsh. I am impressed with the amount of extra features (skins omg) and detailed instructions provided.

Here is my playtest:

This is a simple concept that you explored and built out very well. The shop menu probably shouldn't be hidden behind the menu button after you die, it wasn't immediately clear to me that I could spend my money there, and I figured that the starting condition was all the game was until I finally clicked the menu button.

The laser mechanic is very harsh. I died just spawning a few times, or when it happened after a bunch of moves it always felt like I couldn't do anything to counter it, given how quickly it goes off. If it sent a fairly fast moving bolt instead that could feel more fair.

I had some hard time figuring out what things were, the dollar in the cell is pretty self-explanatory, but I sent myself straight into pointy death a few times at the start thinking it was some kind of upgrade.

The art is simple but clear, I played on PC and had no issues with colors, though the subtle glow gradient around the center was a little banded and some subtle use of noise might reduce that effect. The music sets a nice vibe, though I wish it didn't restart the song when you begin a new round and just keeps playing instead.

A very good core idea, I hope you keep working on it!

luoqing 2024-10-12 07:59

I love games with this kind of graphics, and the tailfire and death shattering effects are good.it is really a good job.

planetary 2024-10-12 08:08

@rotaaaaaaaaaaaa , @roitchie , @blazerker , @luoqing thank you for playing my game!

@mibi88 , I'm glad you discovered the secret! Congratulations!

@steffo , @flaterectomy , thanks for some ideas! I'm thinking of developing this game further for mobile (and then for PC) and you guys have come up with some great ideas! I really appreciate that! Also, @steffo , you can destroy some enemies with a physical contact with the enemy and the ball (if you don't touch the spikes)!

@icxon , I really appreciate that you put some effort in recording my game! I saw that you struggled in killing the enemies (especially the Rays). Maybe I think that I have to reduce the power of the enemies in Easy tier. Also, I saw that you wanted to use the guns, but you didn't have ammo. In a future version I will add a method to gain some ammo in the round. Overall, thank you for playing and the recording!

dan-nik-sg 2024-10-12 09:19

Didn't rly like the game. Firstly very simple mechanics, and on the other hand, where is the theme usage? i didn't see a single tiny creature. The mechanic of launching the ball isn't comfortable as well. The only good part is the background music and sound effects, they are fine. Overall, didn't like it, sadly.

planetary 2024-10-12 09:50

@dan-nik-sg , I understand your opinion. Anyway, thanks for playing.

momotiktik 2024-10-12 23:43

I agree with someone here saying that I easily see myself playing this on a phone! It's a cool little game and I like the upgrades idea :) nice one!

betovf 2024-10-13 08:52

Nice idea, but I but it's kinda unforgiving even on easy mode  As other have mentioned, it could be a great mobile game with some tuning and improvement.

planetary 2024-10-13 09:14

@momotiktik and @betovf , I like that you played my game.

For this type of game, is easier on mobiles rather than on PC!

srynetix 2024-10-14 18:44

Hey, great game! It's really polished and I like the mood in general. Nice work.

planetary 2024-10-14 20:07

@srynetix , thank you for playing my game!

renier 2024-10-15 15:56
