This is great stuff! The visual effects (especially the camera zooming in and out when transitioning screens) really give the game that extra level of polish.

I can definitely see why you call it a challenging platformer, I think you've got the feeling down of that "just one more try" platformer with very tight controls and solid mechanics. It took me a while to get wall jumping down but I can see why it's such a big part of the tutorial given how important it is.

One note - the menu music restarts when I go between settings and the main menu - I think it'd be better if it kept playing.

Grats on finishing the game jam!

nihushu 2020-04-21 09:09

@sayumeki Thanks for your feedback :D

evlko 2020-04-21 13:17

Great level design and audio. But maybe make jump on space button?

xdsilentstorm 2020-04-23 09:08

This is a really cool platformer game, that reminds me a bit of celeste. The post processing effects are really good. The levels are quite long though and can be quite challenging. Still a very good game!

uppitydonkey57 2020-04-23 15:56

I really like this! the graphics are nice and the post processing just enhances it. The levels are also well designed

terrykk 2020-04-23 16:09

Nice game, good level design, music and this effect when game is getting "glitchy" when battery level is low. Veeery nice idea! One thing - why jump is not on space instead of "C" key? It would be more comfortable

gnx 2020-04-23 16:14

Wow, very impressive and complete entry for a jam! Controls feel quite polished and the game is easy and fun to play. Really nice job.

steffo 2020-04-23 16:21

 AMAZING! Great job, everyone! :D

 Only thing... The walljump detection felt a bit weird. [Maybe do what Celeste does and allow wall jump at a short distance from a wall?](https://twitter.com/MattThorson/status/1238338583297028099)

picross 2020-04-23 16:33

Cool platformer! I finished with an embarrasing number of deaths. The wall jump feels like it needs some fine tuning, and it never felt like I was doing what I meant to when I walljumped. Pretty good level design, cool ending and concept. Really great music, reminded me of Dorian Concept for some reason. Nice work here!

finnthepirate 2020-04-26 20:54

one of the best games I've played so far, really great idea and can be developed further into a mobile game good job guys

szieberth-adam 2020-04-29 23:50

I like the mechanism and its look which results a nice high speed experience. It is not something easy to run through, I feel it hard enough although I am not experienced with platformers. I feel it a little off-theme though considering the character dies several hundred times and I do not see what to keep alive here. But the theme is more like an inspiration than something which bounds so that is OK. I am mostly rate compo games so I do not have a view where this game may end in jam but I hope it ends up in a nice position.

nihushu 2020-04-30 07:24

@szieberth-adam The objective is not to keep the player alive but to keep the game alive by running. As you probably saw when standing still, the game starts to decay and the battery discharges.

flash22 2020-04-30 07:30

Wow man the graphics the music and the mechanic of keeping the Game alive was just awesome, i personally wish if the level 1 was tad bit easy as it would encourages the player to keep going, however the overall game is just too great.

This has to be one of my favourite games I have played so far. The graphic effects look amazing when the game is glitching out, the way the music changes. The game controls great an has a nice difficulty curve, though I feel like the wall spikes have an unforgiving hitbox sometimes. Really well done, I hope you take this further and turn it into a fully released game!

kaisean-games 2020-04-30 09:52

Very nice entry, but I found the controls very frustrating. It's not really intuitive in comparison to other similar games on market, especially when it comes to the wall jump.

Having said that, I am aware that getting movement right in such kind of games is VERY hard, so it's understandable that you couldn't make it perfect in time.

Still, the game is very much playable, but I simply found it too hard. I've reached the section where there's green goo to jump over and no matter how hard I tried, I failed somewhere on that level.

What I do want to commend is the fact that there's almost no wait time from the moment you die to the moment you can try again. That's how it should be!

Well done.

bajtix 2020-04-30 10:33

Nice game, i'm not really good in platforming games but i enjoyed this one. Great job!

nihushu 2020-04-30 17:21

Thanks to everyone for really motivational feedback :D We'll definitely make it into a full game

rob-parker 2020-05-01 18:23

Really nice game and great platforming! The soundtrack is epic as well! I really like the effect you had where it looked like it was being viewed on an old CRT monitor.

ninjacatz 2020-05-04 15:37

I did it! erty.PNG

nihushu 2020-05-05 07:45

@ninjacatz Awesome :D thanks for playing our game!

daniboysan 2020-05-06 20:54

very cool

fabula-rasa 2020-05-07 23:19

I tried on Android and it seems impossible to me there  On PC it's much better!

I liked the "just keep running" concept and the execution was flawless really. I didn't encounter any bugs in my attempts and the game seems polished well. I suck at it, but it's polished well

Great work!

junber 2020-05-09 19:25

That was a really cool and fun game. The energetic music, the fact that restarting levels was instant (and didn't reset the level), that level transitions were just the screen scrolling and the energy mechanic made this feel really fast-paced which was why I didn't really feel frustrated even though this is by no means an easy game and made me play to the end (with 103 deaths). The monitor effects were super cool which made me a bit sad that I didn't see them very often. The ending cut-scene also looks great and works really well. One of the best games I played this LD so far. Amazing job!

psychedelia 2020-05-10 19:03

Helloo, very well executed! I had fun, even though I am generally not into these types of games. Sometimes I managed to cheese the spikes on the wall, if you slide into them from the top, they dont kill you. Fun experience! The soundtrack fits well, thanks!

stephan-steinbach 2020-05-11 03:36

Great! Love the music and the glitches creeping in. Also appreciate the instant restarts and nice little graphical touches.

yy404 2020-05-11 09:42

SO coooooool! Graphics and audio design are amazing! Levels are a bit hard for me but the instant restarting feels better.

danthegreat 2020-05-12 06:20

Nicely done player movement mechanics (complete with wall jump!) and fun visual effects.

lazzydev72 2020-05-12 12:34

Supppppppper Fun !!!!!

Loved Playing your Game. The Game looks polished. And the Movement feels Very Good.

(Sorry I played your game a day ago but I forgot to rate it hope you don't mind)

thomas-bringer 2020-05-12 15:41

Great game! Absolutely loved the effects when you lose energy (post-processing + music change). It really added some pressure to speed up haha. A really enjoyable platformer. I wasn't a huge fan of that wall jump though, I struggled a bit with it. Overall congrats! :)

chaseplays 2020-05-12 17:46

I loved this game!!! The way you integrated the velocity battery mechanic was super interesting, and the platforming felt fast-paced with perfect physics! The graphics added a lot to the feel of the game, and although you didn't make the music yourself, it made the game even better! Congrats on making such a great game!
