Beautiful art and the controls where solid, felt good playing with just the right amount of "stickyness".
1. A way to see controls and game info from inside the game would be appreciated, I pressed escape and got to the map-select area, but could not get back to the game without restarting the level.
2. Also as many forget, a way to close the application is always nice to have. I'd rather soft close.
Anyway, a really good game, congrats on a great entry, really well done! :v:
Loved the graphics and animations, was a bit surprised by the difficulty step in the level 4. You might want to add the retry button 'R' to the controls description.
On another note while Godot isn't compatible with ldjam embedded, it is with itchio if you want to host it there (there's some options to check to make it compatible there).
Nice graphics and fun powerups. Was a bit sad when I almost finished level 5 but then accidentally rocket boosted out of the level and could not come back xD Some explanation about the pipe would also have been nice. I totally didnt see it the first time and figured it out just by chance. Maybe some floating arrow pointing into it? Also agree with prefering a nicer way to end the game then task manager or having a second screen to close godot in the task bar ;)
Great Concept! Sound Effects were a bit too loud, but overall it was fun. I had a bug in the 3rd level where dropping an ability into the pipe caused it to still be in my possession but also in the receiving end.
Nicely made, sound effects were a little loud but a solid game
Great design of puzzles and levels! I admire that you managed to come up with everything in such a short time
WOW very impressed that this was done in 72h. I was blown away by the quality of the mechanics and level design. The game combines platforming mechanics with an ability-choosing puzzle in an incredible way. It had a good balance of challenge and satisfaction. Each time I failed to complete the puzzle I had a new idea for how to improve, and that progression felt very good. Bravo!
Nice work with appropriate difficulty levels.
Very nice implementation of the theme. The fact that you need to change the powers that you find in the levels and that you indeed need all of the given skills made it even better. The graphics were solid and the controls were a little bit to sticky for me, but after 5 minutes of playing with the game I was able to control the player without any problems. I would like to have some ambient playing in the background while I was trying to get pass the levels, but this is a minor problem! Very nice entry in general. Good luck!!!
That's a fun game! The quality is really good for being made in only 72h! Mixing platforming with power abilities turned out great (´ε` )
Nice idea! My feedback: - My main issue is the character movement. It feels super clunky, I think mostly because the character horizontal speed/acceleration is too slow. It's super important to have really good character movement in platformers. However, it's difficult to nail perfectly, so don't feel discouraged, just focus on this next time. - It would be nice to show controls in game, eg. using some prompts during gameplay. - I prefer to use d-pad for movement in platformers, so maybe allow that and use other keys for dropping abilities.
I hope this is helpful. Good job!
Really nice central mechanic. I'd wager that no-one else in the jam thought to apply limitation to the player controller itself!
I liked the difficulty and the fact the player is forced to figure stuff out. Not a lot of jam games have the courage to do stuff like that. Level layout themselves were very well done - level 4 in particular was very clever. Took me a good few minutes to realise what the pipes do!
I really like the weightiness of the player controller, but I'd tone down the feeling of momentum, and I'd look into adding coyote frames so that when the player runs off a platform they have a split second in which they can still jump.
As other's have said, the art is great too. Love a single screen platformer!
Great entry, well done!
Awesome entry! It's interesting to apply the theme to the player controller itself! Level design is also top notch, congrats!
Really solid stuff here. Level design was great and definitely allowed the player to experiment, instead of telling the player exactly how everything works via a wall of text. It's a really interesting take on the theme too, and definitely a welcome one. I had a couple of problems with the feeling of the player in the air -- it felt like I had little control, but seemed like I should've had much more control, although this limitation did indeed compliment the abilities and level design, so perhaps a happy medium could be found if you decide to take this concept further! Overall, a solid single-screen puzzle platformer that I really enjoyed my time with. Great job :)
Fun game and levels. The level design really makes you think about what abilities can make it to where you need to go and there are some cool interactions between them such as the wall jump and double jump giving you a very high wall jump. The air control feels weird but the levels feel like they are designed with that in mind. It would be nice if there was some music and if there were more levels.
Liked that there were multiple levels. The abilities are cool, but sometimes hard to use. It was fun to play and solve the puzzles.
The embedded game doesn't work for me. But I already liked the name. xD
