Youβre giving me PTSD, a little too realistic! I liked the graphics and it worked surprisingly well. I had such a laugh whiled playing! Great game!

Crushing dreams is too painful dude Have some mercy
What did u do dude? I did not expect that thing. It's like Windows when my uncle download an FBI virus. Quite curious game!
Too realistic(in a good way) but thank you for giving me another reason to switch to Godot, this was a genuinely enjoyable experience and it seems well made too!
I may have been a little too realistic @triangle-point @hangovergames. Sorry about that π
Thanks @panda-king-976!
I use Godot myself for most of my projects, it's great how the entire install is just ~100MB with an included code editor! I can even run it on my phone! Of the major engines available right now, it suffers the least of the issues I demonstrated in this game π
Thanks, @danyvk!
I can assure you, no viruses of any kind were involved in the making of this game π
I'm glad I nailed the "scuffed OS" feel though π
@kinami I was amazed myself at how small and optimised Godot was, I can't believe I used to put up with Unity's compile times! I can tell that tis game came from personal experience.
Not the most painful installation process I've been through recently, I'm sorry to say. I hope you treat a low score for fun as a sign of success :) .
@tesseract all according to plan! π
This is more of a statement or a piece of expressive art, which is kind of a first for me. Usually I make silly little games π
Great game, so real π. I loved the pet and cursor details haha. Good job
God, this is genuinely terrifying. While I exclusively use Godot, I personally had a lot of similar experiences with engineering software that worked that way. I once had to go buy an external drive so I could dump data somewhere and install some urgently needed tools.
Great little game!
Thank you @t90 @sabasa ! π
"pledge my first born child to your company" sounds about right xD
Nice game and legit OS simulator. Installation steps may have triggered my PTSD :)
Wow, the desktop-simulation is really impressiv for a game-jam! I loved the whole rat-tail with dependencies and everything. This is not only the case with game engines, but also with quite a few other "enterprise-level" development tools. One of the reasons I am using my own engine now ;)
This is probably the most unexpected game I played during this jam so far. :D
I tried to open many files, but the game won't let me see them. :[ How can I start doing a real gamedev if it doesn't let me procrastinate?
> (Crushing of) Hopes and dreams
The game delivered.
The art style is good. The content of every New Document (1), (2) and (3) is great. I recommend everyone to check them out.
@diadem-games Yeah, I also used my fair share of "enterprise" tools as well, and a lot of them do this π’
It is so cool that you are using your own engine! π― I usually use Godot or hand-write Javascript like this.
@quasilyte It's important to not be distracted when doing gamedev π
Jokes aside, I did not get around to making contents for the files.
A solid game with a bunch of hidden secrets, and also reigniting pain. lot's of pain :D
Thank you @primed-pixel! π
Looks like this for me on Vivaldi and i can't interact with windows on the bottom half
Otherwise cool concept, loved the deleted files percentage at the end 2023-10-04 03_21_11-CN=Microsoft Windows, O=Microsoft Corporation, L=Redmond, S=Washington, C=US.png
That's odd @spaint, it seems that in Vivaldi `display: grid` on the parent takes precedence over `position: fixed` on the child. Since it's all Chromium based I assumed it would work the same as on Chrome. Seems like I need to add Vivaldi to my list of browsers to test with π
I'm glad you were still able to play the game! π
My friend, you really need to upgrade your hard drive. This is incredibly painful but very funny. And cute, haha :)
That was really funny and a creative take on the Jam theme, great job! Deleting all those memories was tough.
VERY creative spin on a theme! I love it but I also hate how relatable it is
Ahahaha I love this! I was feeling so upset about deleting everything, what an awesome (and purposefully painful) experience, well done!
Thank you @nicekot @supersayafynn @rhanzoc @mocadium ! π
I do upgrade my hard drives quite regularly, but I still always end up running out of space π
Darn, this is too real, I too have a small SSD, this game wins points for reality! It was creative, honestly. Oh all the times I had to install Umbelievable Engine I to IV, with all the updates that added new incomplete systems and tons of adorable corporative bloat.
Also on the deleting aspect, it felt weird deleting memories and files like that, almost like I was sorting my own HD. The art was on point, and it was fun, I really enjoyed this very creative take on the theme.
I really liked playing this game, i finally can become a gamedev, but at what cost
this really pissed me off :D I finally installed it but it wasn't worth it.
that's a joke of course, and i enjoyed the game... i ended up deleting almost everything except the document that says don't delete :) i had fun
Thank you @ryrumeli @mathkarma @skel3ton !
I'm glad my emotions got across as intended with this game π
Hope I didn't traumatize you all too much π
That's a great idea! And very good realization. Sat with a smile for the rest of the game. Very cool conveyed the feeling of this situation. Are the stats at the end really collected from the players?
@akulove Thank you for your kind words π
Yes, the stats are collected from other players!
Really frustrating, I was on the verge of giving up (before realizing it's just a game) Really well played, annoying music and sounds with each crash/error message could amplify this (even put input controls in the registration if you whant to be devilish)
Great, right on topic.
Very creative way to tackle the theme and simulating a hard drive with memory. The graphics were great also, a lot of effort was put into this by the looks of it. Good work!
I hate SmallFluffy Inc. so much
Thank you all!
@alexis-brochec I wanted to add some error sounds, but I felt they were a little too annoying π Maybe I'll add it as an option though.
@soul-grinder Thank you π
@tpace Yeah, they make a lot of annoying products π¦
Hahaha, oh man, this felt too real, and these trade-offs when deleting files were harsh as hell. :D Really funny idea, well done!
