Nice and fun game! I feel it get's bit too hard for me after a few levels. The fact that you cannot shoot in any direction feels weird and some levels can get super hard because of that, or you can be nearly stuck if there is balls behind you and you cannot shoot them ... also with the fast walk speed and no acceleration it's hard to be precise. I also miss a visual indicator on the character when you take a hit and more invulnerability frames. I also think in arcade version you should be able to start from the same level after dying instead of having to redo everything, right now redoing the firsts levels each time do nothing for the player. Anyway, I think the core gameplay is pretty fun and I like that frantic arcady game feel, keep up the good work!
@nusan : thanks for playing! you can shoot in 8 directions, you just need to move in that direction before shooting there.
Nice game! loved the music. The hitboxes are a little bit finniky, but it works very well. You even managed to create a "campaing/endless" mode! Great work!
Neat game. Nice music, clean graphics. Couldn't fire in all 8 directions, just to the left and right. Love the screen cap option. Excellent work!
Cool game, I really liked the music and the feel of the game. It was easy to get stunlocked and there was a pretty steep jump in difficulty in the level full of balls, so I kinda wish it didn't restart the game every death, but it was still fun.
Are you sure about the "shoot in 8 directions" thing? I, like the other commenters, was only able to shoot left and right, regardless of which direction I was moving. You may want to check that your shooting code is working properly.
In any case, I usually found it more efficient to just ignore the enemies and focus on trying to collect the drops as fast as possible, with the enemies bouncing the resin balls out of the way for me. As some of the other commenters remarked, it's easy to get stunlocked and lose all your health before you have a chance to get away. I wouldn't mind having to start over when you die, if not for the fact that your health regenerates after each level: I would suggest either allow you to restart from the current level, or remove the regenerating health to make it more of an explicit "how far can you go". You already have health-restoring powerups, so I'd argue that regenerating health isn't needed.
When i first clicked the game, I was like..i saw that logo somewhere.. Its really good to see a game made with OpenBOR. I reached to level 5 so far. I Wished the level continued from the same level when re-playing. Apart from that, the music blended perfectly with gameplay. Simple graphics with addicting gameplay. Loved it.
fun game and neat artstyle! good job!
good game, controls require a bit of getting used to tho. I like the visuals sound effects
cool game, keep up the good work
Cool game, movement feels a little clunky. Controls feel a little weird, I can move with numpad 4, 8, 6, and 2 but if I'm moving with those then I should also be able to move diagonally with 7, 9, 1, and 3 but that's not set up. Shooting anywhere but left and right is very difficult and I end up running right into obstacles when I do so. Endless mode was difficult but the regular levels ramped up difficulty nicely.
It has both a nice nostalgic Bomberman feel and a bullet hell feeling, I loved this!
In Endless mode I noticed that sometimes it looks like the shots should hit enemies but they don't. I think adding a shadow to the shots would help.
Arrow keys also move the character, but they don't make you shoot in the direction you're moving, I believe this is what is causing confusion for some players. Also, I'd suggest making it shot not only in the direction you're moving, but in the last direction you moved as well.
A great game, but sometimes the abundance of elements on the screen can make me feel a bit dizzy.
This is a great game. What made me curious is that it looks like a 2d graph simulating 3d, so I would like to know if it is really 2d. The shadow on the ground was very good, I liked the graphics, it was well implemented. It could be a lot more fun if it had a checkpoint. You can't be in the fourth phase and die and everything comes back. The first time I considered going back, the second time I died in the fourth phase I gave up because of that. You can't go back to everything. Tlavez has not been implemented due to time. When the player takes damage there should be a sound that warns me, the blue ball in the left corner of the screen that is reduced is not enough. Other than that it's a great game. There are a few more children missing too.
Controls were a little weird at first, something about the shooting felt off but other than that, it was a high pace frantic game! Lovely little timewaster, really well done! Highly enjoyed <3
