I'm in! Looking forward to ld46 in lockdown!!!
Nice game. But i cannot skip intro in second play, and close the game. I tried to make an incision with a scalpel and killed him.
Good atmosphere but I didn't know what to do in the operation table...
The game looks really interesting, i love the style ! But since i cannot skip the long intro that plays every time i die, i cannot really play :c
nice graphics, audio and overall mood but as someone already mentioned - there should be skip button for intro or skipping one dialog line with a click. I've also killed alien by butchering him with a scalpel. RIP ;(
Yeah the skip button please :D. But I love the graphics !
Great writing, and the graphics evoked some seriously amazing ambience. Like other folks, I was unable to make an incision with either the scalpel or scissors, and didn't have the patience to sit through the story bit again. :( But! I've never seen anything like this in Ludum Dare, and that's awesome. Lots of potential.
Adding voiceover to the game gives it a great atmosphere. But for the love of God, make it skippable. I don't want to hear it again and again if I fail the game and have to restart. Otherwise, nice idea, interesting game.
The intro was interresting, but a bit long, and due to no skip, it took out all replayability.
The game seems fun, but the really long intro bugged me, especially when I died and had to restart. The voice-overs are really well-made tho, and the art style is goofy in a good way.
Looks good, but I can't figure out how to progress. I figured out that you can get the axe, turn on the light and that you can open the inventory with i, but thats about it.
Skip button def coming- thank you all for playing and the feedback!
The graphics are pretty unique, and they look nice to boot
I also like the audio in general. The voice acting doesn't come across as forced and the background music isn't distracting. Nice game!
i'm so disappointed, the animation, the graphics, the voice acting all his perfect, ambient is amazing. But after my third try, i'll stop, the alien always die. And i can't pass the introduction. I tryed with scapel he die, i took the axe my only actionpossible it's on the table, he die again, last try after i used scalpel, i clicked on all the item to repair, heal, cut etc... nothing it's always the same sound, i didn't understand what i need to do.
@odeyalko @overmolo @maxestla @nosfer @nutriz @ted @j-c-one-bit-studio @bastian-bresson @sunnray @fraanns @ukumeme @robowarrior1982
Thank you all for the wonderful compliments and feedback. I have just uploaded a bug fix!
I enjoyed this very much. The voice acting was good and it had me crackin' up the whole time. Good work!
Really cool looking game! The voice acting sounds amazing, and overall sound design is great (except a few voice lines that were not normalized probably, but that's okay ). The story seemed a little bit corny, but I guess that was intentional and it's "cornyness" actually made me smile. And this art style gives a very distinct look to your game, I love it! I wish the game wasn’t so short though, but I understand how hard it is to prep so many voice lines and visual assets in such a short time. There are only 3 different endings, right? Or have I missed something?
@stefenism Thank you so much! Happy to hear that!
@annie-owl Good ears! Most of the dialogue was recorded on the last day in a panic- Thank you so much for the compliments about art and sound. The "organism" was to have another ending, but yes- you've got the three. Working on adventure jam now with a different game, without any story. Probably should have done the opposite!
oh wow this is awesome.. such a neat game, well polished.. do all the audio and voice over sound is original? looks really professional  and really enjoyed the story as well. on first play i don't know what to do and accidentally found the bloody axe and commit to kill it  next play i know what to do and watch the story goes on it's really cool.. do you guys planed to complete this on full version? just curious about the full story of this
@amazura Thank you for your kind words! Yes, everything was made for the LD. We had a rough idea on Friday night that it would be a sort of alien autopsy scenario. While I was working on characters and backgrounds, Anthony and Nikki wrote the script and dialogue. Also, Anthony made the score and sound effects- you can hear more of his work here: http://anthonynovakmusic.com/ We had hoped to record voice overs, but ran out of time to record them- so I went through the script and did them with the built-in mic on my laptop at the last minute. Happy they turned out ok! This is our first time working on a game together, it was a lot of fun- hope we can do more. Thanks for playing!
Wow, amazing graphics and atmosphere! Unfortunately I apparently kept doing something wrong with the scalpel, I guess? I tried over and over and over and had the same result: health went down when using scalpel, and got the scene with the guy saying "Another successful extraction, sir?"... Which seems to suggest I did it right, but then the game ends. I am so confused, and I want more! I need to save my family!
Really professional looking entry, but I am not sure if I played it correctly or not! I feel like I am missing something critical.
What is here is super cool. But it is a bit short, and there is not really any gameplay. I would love to see this be made into a finished game.
Hey nice game... Love the audio but please add the skip button.
This game messed my computer real bad XD I guess it's on me though! my Surface Pro 4 is working kinda buggy. Sadly I wasn't able to play it, but the art seems very dope!
The game has the best atmosphere I have seen so far. The voice acting is very great, if not humerous and silly at times. It looks like a really well made point and click adventure type game. I sadly could not figure out what I was supposed to do. Maybe some more info would help? Nice entry!
@no-grapes-games I wonder if "your family" even exists? ;) Your "operation" gameplay was much more polished! Thank you for playing!
@jk5000 Thank you so much! We'll see what we can do!
@team-wala Thank you! The skip button "ESC" was accidentally skipped over in the beginning of the cutscene- it is in the Bug Fix version.
@gorypixels Oh no! It was built on a Surface Book 2- any way you could post your Pro 4 specs? m3? i5? i7? Thanks for trying!
@sam-minh Thank you so much! Sorrow noted and unintentional- we'll try to be more clear in the future. Thanks again- to all- for playing and taking the time to leave feedback.
I absolutely love the art. Really cool style that I've not seen in a jam before, really well done! And the audio was cool too, nice voice acting :) Wasn't exactly sure if I was doing the right thing when it came to the alien but really impressive what you did! Well done!
The graphics looks nice.
@curleysam @euforia-games Thank you so much for the compliments and for playing out little game!
A cool game with an amazing storyline. Great job! It's amazing how you were able to come up with a game, write music, process sprites, and voice it all in such a short time! I think that if there were not such a huge difference in the size of sprites, the dive would be even greater. But still well done!
nice graphics, but didn't understand anything :')
This is an amazing entry! Just all around impressive from the art, story, sound and gameplay. Great game :)
This was really good. I have never seen this amount of detail put in the audio in the jam game. The atmosphere and the whole mood is on another level. Well done!
@krakadushka Yes! With help! I recommend Visionaire Studio. I couldn't have made the art without Spriter Pro, and I think Anthony was using Logic for the soundtrack, but Audacity really comes through in a pinch! Def needs some work in the art dept, but again, it is insane how much 2D can be done in such a short amount of time-
@poulpint That's okay! Let it sink in- or maybe forget about it! Either way- thank you so much for playing! P.S. I love squids, too.
@43sam Thank you so much for the compliments. I really enjoyed your game as well!
@stefan-jovanovic Thank you! That means so much. We will strive to top it next time! ;)
Nice game, reminds me of some SCP or X-COM science part.
Hey! I played Alien Operation in my stream last night - really great! Can totally see it's potential. Particularly loved the voice over, was super eery and not seen anything like it in the jam before! Great entry guys, well done!
Appreciate the effort that has gone into the intro exposition. Really sets the mood and makes me care to not fail at the extraction.
Sadly I failed at the operation table multiple times over :'D Did try all the tools at the wound, but only the scalpel gave me notable player feedback, that is the life bar has gone down. Will try some time later though!
The art is also really weird in a good way and fitting for the subject! For some reason when the setting was mentioned (Oregon, Redwood) I was reminded of the Flatwood Monster sightings and different alien sightings of that era.
Fantastic work overall! Thank you for your efforts!
Seriously crazy atmosphere, loved it. Wish the gameplay was clearer though, I hit the guy with the scalpel and I'm not sure if I won or not. Not going to lie though I would want to play an expanded full version of this game in the future, great work!
interesting idea, but, too much text for me
I am so frustrated !! :grimacing: The game looks interresting, but I have litteraly no idea what to do. I found two major ways of killing myself, but nothing that seemed to really have a positive effect. Is there a way to do anything but butchering the alien or exploding the ventilation ? I tried the bucket on everything, nothing happened. I'd be glad to test your game again, but for now I have no clue. (I tested the Windows bugfix, since the HTML5 always freezes after a few seconds playing.) Nice work anyway !
I love how polished the game is. Voice acting, visual style and atmosphere in general. Thanks for the game, wish you the best of luck!
a nc game with gr8 sound dont mind about the replies its so nc to play its attractive and catchy game
Ahhh!!! This looks so awesome, I love this unique artstyle! I was immediately fascinated by the story! But alas! The operaton table! The operation tableeeee!!! Wayyy to realistic (as in, I would never be able to keep anything alive) so frustrating :( I want mooooore! Please tell me what to do! It only says "cute here" and I tried to, only killed the alien and triggered the ending scene, and that was it :( A real shame, I thought everything else was splendid, I seriously want to play this game now :D (but like with a superlong story with twists etc :)) good job for a gamejam! The voice acting was also really really good, I coudn't believe you did this yourself! (Most gamejammers own voice recordings.. are npticeable as that and I myself very likely couldn't do it at all, because I would probably end up giggling all the time, lol.)
@team-on Thank you! Big fan of X-COM series. I do not know SCP, but I will check it out!
@max-louis Thank you for playing and for the compliments! So sorry that I missed your stream!
@trexxak It's ok to fail- in fact, some might even think you succeeded ;) And, we love the Flatwoods Monster- in addition, we were definitely inspired by Area 51 and other mid-century lore.
@baconinvader Awesome! Hope we can deliver more and better!
@daniil-tcyvakin Thank you so much!
@madewink Thank you for playing! Rest assured, I think you have reached the limits of what we could accomplish for the jam. We had more in mind for the bucket, but it turned out to be a red herring in this version. Also, thank you for trying the HTML version- I am frustrated that it is not working, but I think I am asking too much of Visionaire's player. Hopefully we can optimize and iron out the kinks for the future. Again, thank you for playing and taking the time to leave honest and detailed feedback!
@gamescodedogs Thank you so much for the compliments and the best wishes- we need that!
@exainz Thank you for your kind words and for playing our little game!
@fatpenguin Thank you! Yes, we need to work on the "The operation tableeeee!!!" XD I agree with you, and it will be the first thing we look at in a postjam vers- well, after the bucket, but right after. Really appreciate all your complements. Let me know if you ever need any voice work! ;)
Thanks again to all for your time and support- it means the world! And, thank you again for YOUR games, this LD has really been a blast!
Yes! what @joemid said.. LD has been a blast thus far! Thank you for all your support!
Incredible graphics and audio! Really really great style.
At the operating table, I was only able to do something else than killing the alien after reading the comments here. It lacks some indication of progress.
I will not really say anything new and that is... the operation table xD!!! It really think it's impossible to interact with. I tried filling the syringe with green or red stuff, I failed. I tried cutting, I failed (I think, his life did drop but the graphics didn't change). I tried other instruments, they seemed to do nothing. And I wasn't able to interact with the operation table while holding the axe. I though I will cut the sucker open with that... but the plan failed as well.
I loved the B horror movie vibe you created with the music, the graphics, the voiceovers, the whole intro. Awesome job on that! Roger Corman would be proud
@joemid hehe.. glad I could be of help, or something ^^ As for the voice acting offer.. boy, will you regret having said that ;) nyahshahaha <3
Wow this is cool. Great atmosphere, graphics and audio. Gonna definitely check out visionaire studio as well, thanks for the heads up!
