I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what I am supposed to do in the game.

There's not a lot of explanation for how I am supposed to play, and I often die before I even get a chance to explore around the level. I think some sort of quick guide to the tasks the player needs to do would help get them started.

Some more specific issues I had: - Mouse sensitivity was really high for me, and it wasn't adjustable in the options. That made exploring really hard because I couldn't quite get the camera to focus on what I wanted to look at. - The particles in the washing room really slowed down my framerate. Perhaps there is some adjustment that can be done to make this part smoother. - I wasn't sure what objects I could interact with, I would either outline them with some sort of visual effect or make them look distinctly different to make that clear to the player.

I thought the level itself looked really nice, the colours you chose really contributed to the tense atmosphere of the game. The models also looked really nice and clean as well, great work! :)

hamzeh 2020-04-20 21:14

@quichi thank you alot for the review, we immediately started fixing the issues you mentioned such as the lack of a how to play menu and the high sensitivity, i also removed a bunch of the particles in the washing room, but i still can't figure out a way to outline which objects are interactable with, again thanks alot for the feedback we appreciate it immensely.

pkenney 2020-04-20 21:53

I tried very hard to connect with this game, it looks really nice and I'm interested in the theme, so I want to find out more about it. My difficulty was three things:

1) The mouse sens is overwhelmingly high

2) The frame rate is a little bit low, maybe too many particles?

3) The allowed seconds are very short

The result was that I was disoriented, and could hardly get my eye facing a certain direction correctly before dying. Just entering the hallway was a big challenge.

Sorry! I really tried! I played probably 30 or 40 times. I tried to find ways to adjust the mouse settings outside the game. But I'm afraid nothing worked.

If you post some instructions or a version with less sensitivity, I'll give it another shot!

hamzeh 2020-04-20 22:03

@pkenney we are working at it right now!, so expect an update after about and hour addressing all 3 points, thank you a lot for giving us a second chance!, that means the world to us

hamzeh 2020-04-20 23:18

@pkenney The update is out!!!!, the mouse sens now makes sense, reduced the amout of particles and added 5 seconds to the time, i hope that you enjoy our game

pkenney 2020-04-20 23:24

Heads up - I went to try the new version, but I no longer see any game available for download on the itch page. Is it possible you misconfigured the new version when you made the change? I know itch has an option for hiding things that you might have accidentally set.

Here is a screenshot showing the issue: https://imgur.com/qxN2QI2

hamzeh 2020-04-20 23:26

@pkenney sorry for the inconvenience i have fixed the issue

hamzeh 2020-04-20 23:31

@quichi, i have fixed most of the issues that you had faced, we added a how to play menu and made the mouse sensitivity much lower, thanks for playing our game!

quichi 2020-04-20 23:47

Just played the updated version, it feels a lot better to play! The sensitivity is a lot better, but I'm still getting a framerate drop in the washing room, I think there might just be still too many particles (or maybe my PC is just too old to handle it lol).

I think there could be some sort of indicator when the player is carrying a nitrogen tank, it would make the game a lot more immersive whereas right now the player just has to keep track mentally that they've picked up the tank.

I would also change the timer - just having text show up on the screen doesn't really convey the sense of urgency so it's hard to really feel the tension when time is running low. If you changed it to some sort of clock icon that ticks down to 0 I think it might make it feel better - this probably just requires some experimenting with to see what works best. You could also play around with flashing lights or ticking sounds to achieve the same effect.

Overall, it was a fun experience and the game looks really great! :)

blake-freer 2020-04-21 00:58

Graphics and lighting are great. I don't understand what I am supposed to do. I can't interact with any items besides the washing station.

hexiez123 2020-04-21 00:58

There is a lot of things the game just throws at you without explanation (how to fill the gas, how to fix electricity, etc). It would be nice to have at least a tutorial. Other than that good concept.

pkenney 2020-04-21 01:05

Much, much better. I got a real taste of what you were after, with the juggling of the multiple overlapping crises, and I liked it. I would personally reduce the input responsiveness even a lot more, I'm still accidentally smashing into walls or over-turning and getting stuck behind a desk and losing time, etc.

But with your latest change its way better than the original, and I like the crazy crisis machine you've made!

hamzeh 2020-04-21 01:06

@blake-freer you just walk up to the thing that you want to interact with, there was unfortuntely no time to make visual feedback when you took gas, i'm very sorry for the inconvenience, just walk to the gas bottles and walk back to the main room and you see a sign that says "empty gas", just approach it to interact and add time, again sorry for any inconvenience, thanks for playing :)

hamzeh 2020-04-21 01:09

@hexiez123 i hope that wasn't a big inconvenience for you but there was no time to make any kind of a tutorial other than the how to play in the menu, thanks alot for playing, we appreciate your feedback immensely

hamzeh 2020-04-21 01:27

@pkenney i'm so glad that you enjoyed the game and thanks alot for your feedback!

mantaraytv-games 2020-04-21 08:22

The management of multiple problems popping up at once is very intese and stressful! Very good execution on that part. The graphics look very nice as well. But I have to say, playing the original version isn't that great of an experience and I would recommend the updated version to everyone who looks forward to playing it.

kevin-meissner 2020-04-21 08:23

The look of the game is nice, but I had no idea how to play the game even with instructions. Before I could figure out anything I just got kicked back to the main menu ^^.

hamzeh 2020-04-21 08:28

@kevin-meissner, I'm really sorry if that was the case, but you interact with objects by standing near them, like standing beside the gas bottles gives you gas which you can use to fill the core by going to the main room and walking to the "empty gas" sign, thank you a lot for reviewing our game

rakowu 2020-04-21 09:43

Hey nice game man. But why do i die when the computer crashes? My time was 30 I NEED ANSWERS! xD

hamzeh 2020-04-21 09:49

@rakowu computer crashes have a time penalty when they happen so you should save time and have a low radiation level before having them, thank you so Much for playing

hamzeh 2020-04-21 09:49

@rakowu computer crashes have a time penalty when they happen so you should save time and have a low radiation level before having them, thank you so Much for playing

logflames 2020-04-21 09:54

This was a really fun and hectic game! It took some time until I figured out what I was supposed to do but when I did I ran back and fourth, keeping track of my radiation. Am I right that you cannot do anything about the computers crashing? The game looked nice but some icon or inventory indication would be nice. It was simple enough, you either had gas or you did not have gas. I first thought you got 120 seconds by using the phone  Well done! (running diagonally reduced the difficulty considerably)

hamzeh 2020-04-21 10:01

@logflames thank you so Much for playing and reviewing our game sorry for the ambiguous how to play section, unfortunately we didn't have time to make an inventory or a visual representation of carrying gas, Again thank you a lot for giving our game a chance!

zen 2020-04-21 11:21

It looks so cool but there is no mac build :(

nova31 2020-04-21 11:37

Good concept good graphics no performance problems but no sound, no indication on how not to crash computers a little too punitive I could not finish the game

hamzeh 2020-04-21 11:54

@nova31 Thank you for giving us a chance About the sound The time wasn't enough to add everything and the computers' crash is unavoidable, and is just a time penalty, ,Thank you again for playing That means a lot for us.

stuembi 2020-04-21 12:14

funny idea! i like the title screen but in the controlls screen the text seems a bit small and hard to read. Also the mouse is super sensitive i couldnt make it lolol nice work!

hamzeh 2020-04-21 12:18

@stuembi the controls screen was rushed unfortunately because we had no time, my mouse is really bad so the sensitivity was alright on my computer, sorry for this problem but when we noticed it was too late, we are so glad that you enjoyed the game!

njm-games 2020-04-21 12:40

I like the idea, I kinda wish it was more interactive though, I feel like im just running place to place pretty much.

spaceguy99 2020-04-21 15:11

I agree with the other comments, the graphics are really nice but the gameplay gets a bit stale quickly, it sort of devolves into running from place to place. Cool game though!

2020-04-21 19:29

Completely not playable.

macdoom 2020-04-21 20:13

The desesperation of radiation! AAAH! Couldn't call anybody or fill nitrogen or wash myself but that was fun! I hope you keep on working on this one. It can be a tottaly enjoyable simulator. Nice job!

rasheed 2020-04-21 20:58

@macdoom Thank you for playing our game and thanks for the review as we said touch is enough to do every thing thanks again, that means a lot for us

isaque-picao-sanches 2020-04-22 10:54

hey, the onboarding is a bit rough overall, but congratz on your game it's a neat idea :)

rasheed 2020-04-22 11:02

@isaque-picao-sanches thank u for the review we really appreciate it thanks again

kostasvs 2020-04-22 11:08

great graphics but needed more work gameplay-wise. Great effort!

krakadushka 2020-04-22 12:17

Too difficult. I didn't understand anything

niels 2020-04-22 19:10

The mood was achieved, but had a hard time playing. Got the gass to refill, but need more clues on how to achieve things. Would like to know with a indicator if I did do something right

finn-truman 2020-04-22 19:21

The idea of juggling tasks in the buildings a good one for the theme, but a severe lack of player feedback and clearance of objective made it pretty much unplayable for me. I don't know what the 20 seconds is trying to tell me. 20 seconds to do what? I walk up to the phone to "save 120 seconds" and nothing happens. About the only thing I figured out to do was walk into the wash room to reduce my radiation. Also, you're not Yahtzee Croshaw. The How To Play screen really needs some punctuation. Also, is my build broken? Because I can't hear any audio, but you submitted it as a category.

hamzeh 2020-04-22 19:23

@niels we are very glad that you enjoyed our game, we didn't find the time needed to make a proper tutorial, we tried the easiest way to indicate how can the player interact with mechanics by using arrows but those proved unbeneficial, thanks for your feedback!

hamzeh 2020-04-22 23:19

we are very glad that you found the time to write an extensive review, unfortunately due to our inexperience-ness we had the false expectation that a few words are enough to convey our mechanics and ideas, The How To Play screen was rushed as our internet connection was very bad and at first we even didn't have a How To Play screen until one comment pointed it out so we had few minutes to fix that and upload, thus the lack of punctuation, sorry for the inconveniences, if you would to give our game a second chance this is some guidance to clear some confusion : the timer shows how much time the player has until the nuclear core meltdown, to get extra time the player has to refill gas by going to the gas room, touching the gas bottles and then returning to the main room to empty the gas in the tube, watch out for radioactivity levels and electricity also computers tend to crash and cause unfix able penalties, then after saving up 120 seconds of time the player could go to the phone to call his bosses and win the game.

ryanman56 2020-04-23 00:19

Was a fun little game! It took me a couple of mins to figure out what I was supposed to be doing at first, but once I knew what I was doing I enjoyed myself :) At one point the computers crashed and I couldn't figure out how to fix them - walking into them didn't seem to be doing anything and neither did running into the electricity box.

iferit 2020-04-23 01:23

stressful.... but in a good way! I loved it XD

buumiii 2020-04-23 08:08

graphics and artstyle are incredible, first i didn't know what exactly todo as the timelimit is also very short... But i liked the feeling of roaming around besides the high sensibilty of the mouse. After all a great game where the feeling and mood is perfect themed for the game!!

bozont 2020-04-23 15:51

You guys did an amazing job on the artstyle, and the mood of this game. After your explanation in the comments, it's enjoyable, in that stressful kind of way. You wrote somewhere that you are beginners, but I'm definitely looking out for future works from you, just for the moody, dark tone and feel.

hamzeh 2020-04-23 21:19

@bozont We are very glad that you enjoyed our game! my friend (the 3D designer) is having a blast reading through those comments, thank you for the nice comment!

shamuraio 2020-04-24 22:25

Innovative Idea, I had problems trying to understand what I was supposed to do, but I did it, surviving enough and having fun!!

rasheed 2020-04-24 22:36

@shamuraio Thank you very much for the nice comment We feel very happy because you enjoyed our game and you had fun We really appreciate it Thank you again for the nice comment

drevilbrain 2020-04-25 09:13

I'm glad to do my service in creating the Zone.

2020-04-26 00:53

You guys totally nailed the atmosphere, it genuinely gave me a sense of anxiety and even though it's a little rough around the edges I had a blast playing it, keep up the good work guys

acidmanrpgz 2020-04-26 06:56

Unplayable because the mouse sensitivity was so high with no way to control it.

chtimy 2020-04-27 18:41

Very cool game, a little bit difficult with the sensitivity. Good job :)

daniel-michaeloudis 2020-04-27 19:37

Nice game. I'm a little bit confused on what to do but it looks good.

ch4oticau 2020-04-29 04:03

Nice work you've done here :)

A few pointers:

* It's not really incredibly clear what to do in the game, I prefer (to my detriment sometimes) to go into a game blind, and it took me a few attempts to really grasp the game's systems. I got there in the end.

* It's fun exploiting a movement bug by moving diagonally to go faster :P

* Graphics look great, you guys did well on this front!

Hope to see you guys in the next Jam, hope you're happy with what you've achieved! It's great

rasheed 2020-04-29 17:54

@ch4oticau Thank you very much for the nice comment we really appreciate that⁶ And we hope to see you again in the next jam too Thanks again

trexxak 2020-05-06 05:17

Great atmosphere as well as orientation - you really did accomplish creating a believable room layout, I very intuitively understood where everything was.

Good job! :3

vernalbehemoth 2020-05-06 13:29

Great idea for a story line it really could work well. The concept of the game is great but due to the lack of feedback (audio and visual) I think its very easy to miss the awesomeness of what you have created.

It is super hard to make something that is easily understandable by the player but there are a couple of things that could of helped. A sound when you interact with something and a visual aid to know when you are carrying something. Maybe something could have appeared on the players screen when you pick up something or when you interact with something in the scene, I have also found that particle effects are a good way to highlight what can be interacted with.

The game felt a little hard to understand from the beginning but once you understand where everything was and what to do with it then the game flowed very nicely. Maybe at the beginning you could get the player to move to each part of the station and show what can be interacted with as a tutorial.

I have struggled to find audio for my games as well but have recently found the site "freesound.org". You could use this to add some sound effects to increase the player immersion in the game.

Great work on the entry! A few more tweaks to help the player play it and you will have an awesome game to play :)

igor-kingamer 2020-05-07 23:49

Now that I really understand it, it's fun indeed! I'll admit I beat the game using the diagonal movement bug, and ended up letting the camera pointed in a fixed (diagonal) direction and moving around just using WASD. But even playing that way, it was fun. In fact, realizing I could do this and learning the right places to turn without looking was part of the fun XD

When you wash yourself 2 times in a row, the radioactivity level gets negative for a moment (although it becomes 0 right afterwards). I used the touchpad instead of the mouse because the mouse was too sensitive (before letting the camera fixed...). Also, sometimes it looks like the computer crash time penalty is too high (if I'm not mistaken, I had around 100 seconds and suddenly lost because of a crash).

Good job! =D

molpe 2020-05-08 01:12

Nice game :) It is neccessary to read the instruction here on the webside, I was confused with the computers, what to do, butthen I found out what to do and I got to the end ♥ The only thing I really miss is some music or sounds :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpYKflj7ufY

convg 2020-05-09 11:45

Nice game! I like the pace of the movement. Some pictures would aid the tutorial and sound would add to the mood but overall it's really fun. You really have to keep moving constantly. Nice job!

rasheed 2020-05-09 19:40

@convg thank you very much for the nice comment that means a lot for us we really appreciate it :>
