This is an interesting idea. It really changed things when I figured out that I could jump. The camera isn't great. Would I be correct in saying that the speed boost when jumping is a big part of getting the dev times?
@shiiro-10psi The levels are all flat with no elevation, so jumping doesn't particularly speed you up. It does help make your trails more managable for the future laps though. The trick is to skip as many parts of the tracks as possible and avoid stepping in your own trails.
Thanks for trying the game! :)
epic
this is really fun. The moment of realisation upon finishing a lap got me. It works really well within the theme and is just fun to play. If you had an artist and more time for level design I think this could have been one of my favourites. The UI is really small and the levels are bland and that's a shame because it would have added a lot I think.
Really interesting and unique idea here! Love the interpretation of the theme. My only frustration was that if I really messed up I would have to start the run fully over. I would of liked it if the boundaries only super slowed you down and didn't outright force a restart of the run. That being said once I got the hang of the controls I was dying less often so that became less of a major concern. Overall very fun nice job!
It will be nice to add ability switch mode like in "Bounce Tales" on Nokia. 3 different balls - light and jumpy, regular and tank (which could brake the tails)
@derek-glennon fair enough, we agree the penalties turned out too harsh! v1.1 halves the penalties and is a more enjoyable experience for it but it's only available on itch.io for now as the changes came in after the time limit.
Thanks for playing the game in any case and I hope it didn't sour your experience too much!
An interesting little game idea. I am not sure how fun it is, but I like you tried the idea.
The controls felt really good! Very much enjoyed this! Good work!
really fun game I got two silvers and beat 1 dev time on the last level and I'll probably come back later not sure if just me but I think the audio might have had a tiny bit more white noise than necessary I really like the concept and I think this would be a good game to contiune working on good game :)
I just played 'Turbo Tumble' and found it quite challenging having to avoid your own trail as the track gets tighter and tighter. I liked the concept! The shortcuts in the levels are a good idea, but I confess that it took me a few tries to get the hang of it. The retro vibe reminded me of classic racing games. Congratulations on the work in such a short time!
I love the concept here, it's a brilliant way to turn a racing game into a puzzle game. I didn't make much progress because the learning curve is pretty steep, but for a racing game that is quite fine! My favorite aha moment tracks was the figure 8 track, and the free roam track was pretty cool as well. I feel you really explored a lot of uses of different mechanics despite the simplicity of the concept. Thanks for a rolling good time, it was really fun!
Really fun! Great theme fit.
its like Tron mashed with racing
A very strange game. Somehow "flat"
Great game! I liked how fast you can go and still stay in control. This is what I'd call a trail hell hahaha specially level 3.
Unfortunately motion sickness made me stop, so this is where I'm stuck for now:

I feel the camera position could be improved somehow so it's easier to know what's ahead, and maybe even reduce the effect of motion sickness.
I liked the idea of the trails you leave behind slowing you, it's not quite as punishing as them killing you but it adds a layer of strategy to the game. Nice job team!
@igor-kingamer Sorry to hear about the motion sickness! The post-jam version improves the camera (among many other things) so hopefully it's not as problematic in that regard!
I played both versions, the jam and post jam. I really don't understand why the side of the red track is transparent and not solid. In my opinion this ruined the experience, if I could hit the sides it would be more interesting. I don't know if the idea has anything to do with the theme, but it could be fun, but leaving the track every time you cross the red wall is complicated, I think.
The game controls very nicely and it's really fun once you get some momentum going, but I felt like it was a little too punishing. Falling off the map should maybe restart the lap instead of the whole level, or just put you back on the map (and you will have more paths to avoid next time). Also a having a bird-eye of the map once it's finished with all of the paths the player took would be really cool! I still had a lot of fun in the end! Level 5 is definitely a challenge, there was almost no room in the middle on the third lap! :)
(And I liked the music too!)
