I really liked the way the spoken/grumbled word and the darkness set the tone! I felt the constant rate of the words approaching was a little less exciting than I wanted it to be, but the falling behind and every once in a while getting a clear was nice!

I’ll check it out on itch.io

I guess you have the same issue I had with my game when publishing it. Make sure to

pack it as a ZIP index.html is at the root-level aside the folders created by Unity Disable “Data Caching” when creating the WebGL build in “Player Settings” -> “Player” -> “Publishing Settings”

I liked the atmosphere of the game. The concept is simple and effective. Very good game, congratulations! (It's a shame that the game doesn't work very well in keyboards other than QWERTY)

This is first game I'm getting to play this jam and yeah, what a good way to start it. Game looks and sounds amazing, really nails the whole satanic vibe and does a lot to set the mood. I always thought I was a decently skilled typist but playing a few rounds of this is making me realise that maybe I'm not haha. Great job!

k4su 2024-04-16 01:44

Love the graphics and the sound effects! Game is really run and you increased my heartbeat in the "advanced mode" :O

Got 60 demons and 300 letters the second try! =D

I have a `QWERTZ` keyboard and for me `Y` and `Z` are inverted :/

Fun theme for a typing game! The demon names were great touch typing practice for interesting words that aren't muscle memory!

The difficulty ramps up a little fast, maybe a system that adjusts to the users speed could be used? Also, it would be nice to be able to focus on not just the bottom word (so I can give up and cut my losses on a word or two instead of getting rekt by it and all after it)

But great tutorial! And the feel was awesome! Sound effects were punchy and typing felt good :)

Thanks @k4su! It worked!

greenradiation 2024-04-16 17:25

Very cool game! There's a game called Textorcist with a very similar concept. In any case, you have a well-implemented project. Great job!

k4su 2024-04-16 17:57

Glad to see it's working now! :)

Perished 158 demonds this time with 771 letters >:D

a classic typing game with an atmosphere that really sets the tone. Overall an enjoyable experience especially if you like typing games

pigeonic 2024-04-16 20:32

Really cool concept! It was all fun and games until upside down words came along :)). As someone said before I think it would be better to be able to text any word not just the bottom one. Good job!

vasulvius 2024-04-16 20:54

I like the concept but unfortunatly I have an AZERTY keybord then when I hit A the game consider I hit Q :( The sound design is immersive :)

roman-dubrovin 2024-04-17 17:29

A good fast type trainer=)

phoenixgaming 2024-04-17 18:18

Actually pretty sweet! Way more fun than expected and when the words turned upside down I almost lost immediately hahaha.

Do they still teach typing in schools? This would be such a good way to gamify it - well, with this concept and a less dark theme.

One suggestion, for what it's worth: when you miss a word, reset the screen or something? It was pretty easy to miss one word and then not be able to recover. Maybe that's intentional though.

azathothep 2024-04-17 18:24

Very cool game, I laughed a lot when the twist happened xD There is actually plenty of room for other twists like this one (a letter changing on its own, a difficult word slower than the rest ; you could also have multiple words that form a sentence if you read them in the order you typed them)...

2 simple feedbacks : I would add support for AZERTY keyboard, and being able to "pass" a word (with Tab for example) so when you know what you're not doing great for the current word you can change (but still lose 1 life).

Very good job!

doonutsaur 2024-04-17 18:27

My roommate and I started competing to see who could type out so many names faster. In the end, I started frantically smashing the computer. I really turned into a demon summoner, and the demon was me. Just kidding.

angelalb 2024-04-17 19:40

Somehow you sold the theme with the mood of the game. Fun game, but the fact that you could only type the bottom-most word made it so you'd go from perfect score to dead in a moment, since you have absolutely no time to recuperate. Probably should have used that priest...

marcodeevil 2024-04-17 20:01

@azathothep thanks for feedback! @angelalb you are totally right, we lacked a little bit of playtesting, but that's some knowledge we can take of this game jam, thanks for trying our game!

rradu 2024-04-17 21:07

amazing entry I loved it, the only issue I had is that at higher speeds is that even one missed name is run ending cause you can't type the others in type, but np. good stuff. 90 demons btw

gold-daniel 2024-04-17 21:20

Good theme for a typing game, trying to stop a summoning. Once the words flipped upside down I could not do it at all, it was very difficult after that.

I did like the art, nice touch having the character speak when you type and the screen shake when miss-typing. Sound effects were fitting as well.

Great entry!

baluj 2024-04-19 00:39

It's an interesting concept, I'm not good at typing but I liked it. Good job!

tony-li 2024-04-21 17:49

Nicely done, atmospheric typing game! I like the twists it throws at you.

thesmellofoxygen 2024-04-22 12:56

Thematic typing game. Well done. The font gave me a little trouble at first, but I got it quickly. I like the audio. When God comes and flips all the demons' names, I lost so fast! Didn't realize I needed to spell them backwards too.

bacon-beast 2024-04-28 15:38

I like the presentation, the graphics and audio are very well done!

Maybe it’s a skill issue on my end, but I found that if I missed 1 word, then the timing window to recover and type the next name was too short since the names where so close to each other vertically. Perhaps have the names pause or slow down significantly for a second once one hits the ground?

The names getting flipped was a fun and challenging twist, and I appreciate it eventually flipping back if you manage to handle it for long enough.

The game is very polished and well made! Good work!

alzhu1 2024-04-30 03:44

Fun typing game! I made it to 119 demons killed, 598 letters hit and a max combo of 88. This was tough because of the unique demon names, so there was an added challenge there; especially the upside down letters. Might be a nitpick but I would've preferred the upside down letters to also be typed from left to right, as that felt more natural (but that might be an unpopular opinion). The art looks great and it has great atmosphere; adding voice acting is cool too. Nice job with this entry!
