Very cool style. Good job!
Really nice idea. Couldn't get out of the loop always got hit by someone behind  Good execution of the theme and pretty fun gameplay. Music was ok too. Well done!
The physics are lunar, I can do two wheels just by taking a tight turn. And opponents can smash you like nothing. Because of this I had difficulties to be engaged in the game. Plus the lighting is poor, I could’t see who was in front of me because the light was too bright in the mirrors. It was nice looking on paper but I’m a bit disappointed by the execution. I know how difficult it can be to tame Physics engines. Kudos for doing this in 3D and making all the models and the music.
Quite the physics in this game! It got a little how easy it was to turn. I like your idea of not having completely realistic physics, but I think they can use a little work. Find a good balance on the scale, and the game will be a killer!
Great take on the theme! This is the most difficult game I've played in the jam so far. I'm not sure if that's intentional or not. A few things that make it feel more difficult than it needs to be: - Headlight glare makes it impossible to make anything out. Just white blooms everywhere, including the mirror. It's cool that the mirrors show reflections to, in theory, let you see what's behind you, but since everything is just bright blooms, it feels impossible to gain any useful information. - Camera turning is very slow. Can't quickly glance to the side. You sort of have to commit to a direction, so I mostly left it forward. - Physics are super crazy. Turning while moving quickly makes the vehicle all tipsy and I often end up stuck nose-down somehow. - Little to no breaking. Not sure if the game was intended to be taken super slow or if you're supposed to just make a b-line for the outer edge, but if you try stop before hitting another car, you basically end up giving it a love tap, which is just as bad as a hard hit (seems there are just 3 hits before you're out, regardless of speed). - Cars behind you plow through you. Seems like you're moving at the same speed as the rest of the traffic, then, BOOM, you're being launched in the air by a vehicle from behind.
I did manage to make it out of the loop, though. Sort of? ld47_escape-from-london.jpg
Under rated submission!
Interestig idea, and an ambitious one for 48 hours, basically agree with all the points from @jitspoe. Particularly the need for a brake, I was just working my way over gradually a lane at a time but I always not being able to brake fast enough after changing lanes and hit a car in front, even though it feels like i'm going really slow.. Also maybe having your camera more like 3rd person style behing the car would be nice as its difficult to judge where whe edges of your car are. It feels like you are going for a somewhat realistic simulation style, but feel like thats problematic without being able to really move your head around to see the surroundings. I wonder how it would be in VR, might work better.
Love the idea! However I think a simpler implementation (less heavy graphics, maybe even only 2D) would have also done the job. You could have put more focus on polish this way -> controls+physics are wonky, graphics are not that great even though the GPU does some heavy work, maybe add things like powerups or something.
You had a similar thought to me :) so obviously I think it's a nice idea! Controls are quite sluggish and it's very easy to roll the car - with more responsive physics and mouselook you'd reduce some frustration!
nice, last time i went to london i Also wanted to escape
Loved the graphics. Physics are really weird , it's really hard to drive
I like the idea but controlling the car is very hard. Also understand what you were going for with the lighting, but it was too dark most of the time. But I think this could turn into a nice little game with a bit more effort.
Well, it's pretty strange, but still I like it and hope you'll get your 20th. Good luck!
That was pretty fun but very rough around the edges
Controlling the camera was kind of difficult because if the mouse wasn't centered, the camera would just keep moving and it was difficult to just look forward.
You should probably add a speedometer since it's hard to see the speed of the car which makes it difficult to determine whether it's safe to make sharp turns. I found that I was rolling over at speeds that I thought were safe so since you can't actually see the wheels of the car leaving the road from the camera view, add a different way to indicate that to the player.
The game definitely needs some kind of scoring system. After a few tries I felt like I was getting the hang of it and doing a good job, but when I broke down I had no way of knowing how much I improved.
This was a fun idea but definitely was really rough. I had to download the low graphics mode on my gaming PC with a modern GPU, so it definitely could use some optimization. I think the thing that would most improve the game would be tighter controls, it feels almost impossible to avoid hitting other cars right now.
Cool idea but it was very difficult to control and braking was just not happening. At night all I could see in my mirrors was bloom on top of bloom. The graphics are decent (visibility issues aside) and I like that there was even rain some time. Don't be afraid to sacrifice realism in favor of playability - the mirrors could have been more effective if they were cartoonishly large and if the brightness and size of the headlights died down quickly. Overall, it feels like a complete entry but it could have been better if you prioritized responsive controls instead of details like rain and driving at night.
I hope my feedback doesn't discourage you, hardly any jam game is perfect (God knows mine never are). This was an excellent use of the theme and I liked the music which seems to fit the mood of the game well. Congrats on finishing!
Thanks for playing! Yeah I know the game was ~~a bit~~ extremely rough. Unfortunately, I had less than 10 hours to work on this game — quite content with how far it got in the time :)
Cool game, I liked it. By the way, where I can now find property for sale in London? I plan to buy a house and immediately move into an apartment.
Hi, I think you should check out this site with offers new properties for sale https://1newhomes.com/new-homes/ Now there are many interesting proposals for new buildings that have already been put into operation. In general, London is a city that is actively developing in terms of new development. And this is not surprising, because it is the capital. So I think you should buy a home here, because you have to understand that in a few years the price will be even higher. And your investment in housing will pay off over time.
Thanks for the link to the site, I think this information will be useful to me.
