overall it was a fun platforming experience, coming from someone who has never really played many platformer games. I think it was a bit short but the music was catchy and controls, solid. I also liked the effect of highlighting the player, helped me focus. One thing I was not crazy about, is some of the graphics got in my way a bit and obstructed my view of enemies occasionally.

Looks cool. It asked permission to make changes to my device, which made me nervous, so I didn't play. Not sure what it's trying to install. Happy to take another look if that's cleared up. I've been scanning all downloads and then clicking through Windows Defender, but this was a step beyond what I've seen before.
The controls were solid, and the levels were designed well and rewarded exploration. There were some of the graphics on the first level that got in the way of the game so i couldn't see my character, but that's' the only bad thing.

It feels kinda bad that I wasn't actually able to get past the first level because I see screen shots suggesting that there is more in this game. What I do know is that I very much like the running, gunning, and wall jumping mechanics reminiscent to platformers like Mega Man and N. I think I would have gotten further if there was a clearer indication on how to actually complete levels. Good job on making a very fun game!
Reminds me of some old flash games, tapping a bit of nostalgia. I was able to get through the game and get all of the collectibles I think. Forgot to record my score though, oh well.
I ran into one bug at the end. As the enemies fell they stacked up and when I destroyed one they floated in the air. Gave me a nice ammo boost when I stomped on all of them .
As for the gameplay; The platforming was fun, not too difficult but not too easy imo. Wall jumping was fun and saved me a lot. The first level was a little annoying with the parallaxed "trees" in front. It would be much better if they were in the background. Also It would be cool if the boss flashed when you hit him or something. I couldn't tell when I was landing bullets or really when I could shoot him.
Overall this is pretty impressive for 72 hours. Good job!
This game is pretty solid. The platforming feels good and I like the wall jump. The music does a good job of establishing the tone of the levels. The visuals are also good. I like how your power level is indicated by how bright your light is. The foreground in the first level was a bit distracting, although it's neat how it covered up certain secrets. All in all, this is a very well put together entry. Good job!

Thanks to everyone! I appreciate all the comments. It was hard and some times frustrating but, I did it. I could not add more because I need to rewrite a code that some how got deleted. But I will try to added in a future.

Very fun game, fit perfectly with the theme. Well play mate ! :D
any chance of a browser build (if it's unity i mean)? looks really good! I like the PCB trees! cool idea
Interesting platformer mixing the meatboy with mario. But, somehow the parallax seems a little off to me, some layers move faster than expected and the one in the front usually obstructs the view :/
A fun game with good use of the theme. And impressive since it was a Compo too. :)

Overall a good base for a plat former, the collisions were a bit wonky and i had no idea if i was hitting the boss or not but the groundwork is laid for a good game here.

@deanard @sir-daniev @tyrod @cybersoftuk @superpokeunicorn @mactinite @doc-ill @christoffer-krakou @cronje Thanks to all for the suggestions! I appreciated. I will take notes and implement some new features. I started fixing some bugs. For the foreground I will fix that too.

haha... at the parallax resistors. I like how health is the amount of light as well as on the HUD, good UI.

Nice game, controls are good, and using led/circuit as a environment is cool. I found the boss a bit long to kill. The parallax resistors in the foreground in the first level is annoying as it obscure the view. But I enjoyed the game, keep up the good work.

That's a fun platformer ! I really like the graphics and the sounds. That was a great experience ! Great job !
Hey, nice game! I like the characters and the fact that I can wall jump. I just think that the stage is a bit overwhelming with all the stuff going on the foreground and background. Overall, very nice job, really liked it :)
I agree with @mactinite it remind me some flash games, very cool, I loved the colors gives a nice atmosphere, a good platform game, very well made

The hero is sooooo cute. Overall the graphics are really great and the game is a good platformer. Maybe the jumps are a bit too short.
The control scheme is solid, and the setting is really unique.
I could never figure out how to move on to the second level. Maybe I'm missing something, but I feel that could be more clearly communicated.
As others have said, the elements covering the level can be annoying. They'd work better in the background.

Responsive controls, collisions were sometimes not working when jumping onto the enemies. Other than that nice work with the platformer!

@ectucker1 Thanks for the comment, the suggestion and thanks for playing! I'm working in a code to make the foreground opacity drop when is above the player. The player controls are mentioned in the description"How to play LED Adventure" -- When you press The "UP arrow key" or "W" in front of the door you can access the next level.

Wow great job, especially impressive for a first LD! I played this one through to the end. You had a lot of features, including a lot of art, sound, a cool boss fight and even a dialog system with some story at the end. Great work delivering a lot here.
I felt like the levels of platforming were pretty cool, but it was definitely the boss fight that took it to another level.
If I would ask for one more thing, it would be a little more graphics feedback on the boss when he takes damage. First couple of battle with him I didn't think he was being hurt and that I was supposed to be doing something different.
Also agree with the other commenters that it's a bit of a no-no to obscure my character with the foreground, but it was no big deal and I did appreciate the way the layering brought the setting more to life.
Great job.
EDIT: Omg I just saw from another comment that this game has shooting! I never realized I could shoot, and beat the whole game without doing so. No wonder I had a harder time with the final boss...
So I'll have to add one more to the wishlist: some description of the controls at the start! ;)
The parallaxing was a bit awkward, But it was still a really fun game.

Great job! Nice game, graphics and audio are beautiful! =]
Nice game, felt a little slow personally. But great mechanics, art work, and sound congrats

Great classic platformer with some nice new touches. The thing that I had the most promlems with though would probably be the forground in at the first level. It was just too much going on with both the back ground and forground having many props making it hard to see the charecter and focosuing on the important stuff. Other then that the gameplay was great good controlls and nice art!

The gameplay is fun,and the graphics are really cute. I really like the setting of Circuit Land. The foreground parallax can block the view sometimes, but it's not really a big deal (It actually add some challenge) :)

I appreciate all the comments. I already fixed the foreground issue but, I want to let the original game intact to be played and rated.
Very fun 2d platformer. I know it's already been addressed but the foreground does block view. I see that you have already switched that around which is awesome. Great work!

Very nice! As others have said, the foreground is distracting. Also, you can climb any vertical wall just by jumping and air steering back into it. Maybe that's intentional?
I really liked the mechanics of the game, the power bar is great

I have to straighten my back, stretch my neck and really focus on main character because I didn't want to be distracted. Wow, that was quite a bit of exercise :D Anyway, the concept is likeable, gameplay interesting and graphic really cool. Good job! :p
Nice game, I really love the theme. That is awesome! However, you messed up parallaxing in first level big time. If something is closer, to you it needs to be faster. Otherwise, it looks wierd.

Thanks for the comments. @david-broz - The parallax movement problem was a bug, but I already fixed! Also I want some opinions on this. ldup1.png
Hi! You made a really good game! The level design is good, the graphics are cute and working for me (the parallax is maybe too strong but I thought it was maybe a part of the level design, by not knowing where you are and having to avoid enemies. Maybe some feedback on the boss fight to know if shooting actually hurts it or not (like making it flashing or something) would be nice :D
The difficulty is well balanced, I got to the end with some deaths but not frustrated. And you may not have made the music but you chose it well!
The graphics were decent. I will say that the background and foreground were a bit too similar both in color and look so it made the game unnecessarily busy to look at. I'd make everything from the player to the tiles stand out a lot more. Also some of the parallax was messed up in the first level. The soundtrack was good and fit well enough and the sound effects were alright. The gameplay has potential but there is a lot of polish still left to be added. Firstly the jumping has a huge amount of momentum, which makes it very difficult to control yourself in mid-air. It reminded me of Castlevania jumping, but unlike that game this one didn't feel designed around it. Secondly the shooting could feel a lot more satisfying. For starters, I'd make the bullets bigger and quite a bit faster and then I'd add some screen shake, or freeze to make it feel good when hitting the enemies. Some other minor things you could fix up is giving the falling platforms a different sprite so the player doesn't have to guess if the platform they're jumping on will crumble beneath their feet. That said, I can definitely see a good amount of effort being put in to this, it just has a way to go before it's a polished experience. Good effort, nonetheless!

Hello! I fixed the issue where you can’t notice if you hit the boss or not. I made a simple animation and alpha controller for now on him. I will post the images on the main blog, just to not uploaded twice. So here is a link.

I think the graphics for this game could have used some more love. The background parallaxing was there, but seemed very mechanical. Also the decision to add a foreground that was much brighter than the actual game space and obstructed the players view subtracted from the experience. But on the gameplay side, it was an alright platforming experience

Nice graphics, but that big blue element blocking my view was irritating. The game play was fine and could do with a few tweaks, particularly on jumping with those dropping platforms... It may be by design but it appeared I had to move at least a bit before a second platform could be used in quick succession (I guess I'm used to doodle jump style jumping). Nice colors and music.
Great graphics and platforming! How did you manage in so little time. Reminded me of Pacman World

Cool game! I like that the light got smaller as you lost energy!
The art was a little too detailed and it was kind of difficult to make out the player and enemys in the first level, though the next level improved on that. Generally you'll want to fill most of the ground with simpler shapes. Taking meatboy as an example, the detail on large platform shapes is on the borders of platforms (which the player should be paying attention to) and the middle does have some detail but if you squint it's basically just a block colour. Also backgrounds should be faded slightly for less confusion and if you really want foregrounds I'd reccomend either blurring them out or making them really dark (possibly pitch black).
Also, acceleration when changing directions could do with being a bit faster, at the moment turning in the air is a little slow meaning if you overshoot an enemy or something, you can't easily reajust. Though maybe that's a difficulty aspect you want to keep and I'm just being picky I dunno.
Other than that, great game! The wall jumping was done really well, I wish you'd used it more!
Nice game, lots of colorful stuff. Something about the movement control felt a bit weird to me, don't know exactly why. I liked the fact that the lightbulb is the grandfather of the LED :)

pretty cool game, I'm glad there were several levels and a boss fight, really makes it full as a game. Nice audio and nice graphics that all matched. I found sometimes that the foreground objects obscured the enemies.
This game is a pretty solid platformer. There are a few small problems: - The graphics are a bit cluttered, including both the foreground that sometimes blocks the player but also sometimes it's hard to distinguish the background from the level. Also, for some reason the foreground and background have more illumination than the level..? - The disappearing platforms in the second level can be difficult to jump on, but that might just be on my end. - It's pretty unclear how you are supposed to defeat the boss, and although just shooting at it worked, there was no visible indication that it was working until the very end.
Overall, though, it's pretty good.

I had no clue you could shoot in the game. It seemed only necessary for the final boss. I had to redownload the game today and play again, this time I won!
I wanted to leave some notes, but it seems like you're building a newer version now. I'd love to play that when it's ready.

@mrtroy Thanks for playing the game! Yes I already fixed some of the bugs.
@themonsterfromthedeep Thanks for playing the game! The disappearing platforms will be fix by letting you know which ones are stable and unstable.
