Fun game, thanks for sharing it with us over on my Twitch channel :) Really enjoyed the simple concept. Made me laugh when the wolf attacked me, lol!

Fun game, thanks for sharing it with us over on my Twitch channel :) Really enjoyed the simple concept. Made me laugh when the wolf attacked me, lol!
Managed 10 points at my best. The harvestable plants could have been made a little more obvious. Clean graphics!
Got "hard" pretty fast as the number of wolves increased rapidly. Fun idea. Only thing that i found kind of irritating is that i could not click on the tools but had to use the nr keys. As i automatically tried to click them every time in needed to switch
That's a fun game, I can already see some different strategies. The one which worked best for me was to plant seeds on individual squares scattered all around the map and run from crop to crop avoiding the wolves.
Like @pinkemma, I think some more visual (or audio?) feedback would have been great, for harvestable crops and maybe also a detection gauge or indicator of some kind.
Haha, farming has never been so tense! 5 points was my top score. I like how you could hoe the long grass away, that scuppered me a few times by my own hand.
What did you enjoy the most about making this?
I like this game, the concept is really cool !
The game is really hard though, you tend to have too much wolfs around you when you reach 10~ crops harvested, and as you can't create hide tiles, you just end up with 3-4 wolfs one tile way from your crops and you're ******.
Thanks for the feedback.
@pinkemma @yanek: Yes, more visual feedback (harvestable crops, successful watering) would definitely improve the game.
@ateriamia @hyorvenn: I chose to increase the number of wolves rapidly to keep the duration of a game limited and prevent the game from becoming boring. It does conflict with the casual farming part though. A crafting/constructing element to hide and a difficulty setting could improve this.
@temmy: This was awesome. I like how the compo forced me to make everything (code, graphics, sounds) myself and I am proud I finished a game. There is room for improvement, but I learned a lot and I actually published something I created.
Needs a bit polish but a fun one nonetheless. Needs clear indication when crop is fully grown and when the spot is watered. Also would be fun if the wolves moved less randomly.
Nice concept. Maybe there should be a warning when a rabbit (sorry, wolf, but I can't help thinking them as rabbits!) is going to appear?
I think you did a great job of bringing the best of both genres, the intensity of stealth games and the patience of farming. Plus you get all bloody when you die so thats awesome.
My top score was 8.
I'm interested in watching a gameplay video, because I couldn't figure out how to interact with anything... Maybe the linux build is broken? (also, the game occasionally crashes when I click Try Again). I'll give another go on a different computer!
Those damn wolves are too violent and in too great numbers. What is this, wolf country?
The game is nice though, felt real tension sitting the bush, waiting for the big bad wolves to go away. Didn't manage to farm many crops though, those wolves are too hungry. Very good for your first game! Props for using Godot too.
Fun concept ! :) The wolf panic really gets to you ! I've seen this on stream and just had to try it for myself as well ;) Great stuff !
This is a cool concept! I think this genre combination has some potential.. I'm now convinced that I could really enjoy a more fleshed out stealth game + farming sim.
One of the best farming games, the risk of being eaten by a rabbit if you make one mistake, really makes it great!
Challenging game! Couldn't figure out how to hide properly, but still pretty fun! Would like to see an expanded version!
A brilliant idea! Although I didn't manage to get any points XD
I like the idea of combining stealth and farming.
This is a refreshing take on a farming simulator game :-). I enjoyed the fact the stealth mechanic resulted in my carefully getting wolves to orbit me as I tilled the soil - that is a pretty unique thing to have in a game!
Also, the graphics were super cute, which I'm a real sucker for ^_^
It was a little difficult to tell when I was hidden from the wolves. All the mechanics work predictably and are implemented well, so good job! I know you're aware, but there is a crash bug occasionally.
A little challenging but super fun and a great interpretation of the theme - farming and stealth definitely don't feel like they'd go together but your concept works!
Love it. Challenging would be understatement. :wolf: too good at finding me, I need :gun:
Wow, this is lots of fun! I mean it's very bare bones, but everything that is there is great and works well together. Stealthiness works in this context, when you do get noticed, dodging is very fun. You can do little pixel paintings on floor. It's just great.
Good job!
Very cool man! I only wish the tall grass would grow back ery' now and then
Nice quick game, great combination of genres
Nice game. Great take on the theme
As for critique, the background music was a bit quiet when compared to the other sfx and the wolves would sometimes spin around really fast. :D
Really interesting game with some nice audio while fitting the theme too, nice one!
Thanks for playing and for your feedback. It's much appreciated.
@aarre-entertainment @pheonise @handle: This is the most heard critique. The game does need more visual feedback (watered crops, full grown crops, hiding indicator, etc.). For me it was completely logical and I didn't think enough from a new player's perspective. I will definitely add it in my next entry. I am also not very happy with the movement of the wolves. I rewrote their code several times, but I still have to figure out how to get it just right.
@jf1989: Thanks. I've never made graphics before and with this game I learned I can do basic graphics. I improved a lot since my first drafts and hope to do even better next time. Glad you liked it.
@zanhava: Good advice. You probably didn't know you can hide in the full grown crops too? That way, you can create your own hiding places.
@inventorofstuff: You're right, the background music is too quiet. Some people even thought there was no music at all. That's a pity because this was my first attempt at making music. Next time, I will give audio in general some more attention during the polishing phase.
These are my thoughts:
**Good**
The game as itself is enjoyable. It's challenging, but not impossible. A good blend.
Music is good, and you have good action sound effects to know when you've done something
I like that you didn't have an infinite world, keep it simple helped with execution and workload
**Improvements**
It's hard to tell sometimes what land I will till. I figured it out, but maybe have the plot of land highlighted would be more helpful.
The plot of land should darken when you add water. #Minecraft style
Should be more of a warning when the wolves attack. Once they have you insight, you're dead :(
Thanks for making this game, see you in the next jam!
I played before reading the instructions. I will tell you that trying to plant, water and harvest seeds while trying to run away from three wolves is not an easy thing to do! I was more successful with hiding in the grass until one of the wolves stumbled upon me by chance. Then I got eaten.
Great idea for a genre mashup, and well executed. Some improvements I would suggest: Zoom in a little bit. It would add to the tension of not knowing when the wolves would appear. Also, make the action buttons at the bottom clickable. More than once I used my mouse to click the buttons. Since you click to use them, it would make sense to click to select them.
I managed to get a score of... 5, and I felt that was a bit of an accomplishment ^_^. I would often use a tool and it would interact with the wrong square, sometimes to devastating effects when my hoe removes the grass that is hiding me instead of the tile next to me I was trying to interact with. Some sort of roll-over highlight showing what is going to be interacted with would have made a *huge* difference.
That was a lot of fun, and funny at the same time because the wolfs seem to charge you down like football players. I got 10 points until a wolf just randomly assasinated me :D I would say that you hit the theme spot on!
It would be nice, to somehow be able to kill the wolves, otherwise you are having a hide -> wait -> wait -> score some points -> hide -> wait kind of situation. If killing a wolf would be possible with a high risk, but also with a huge reward then it would add a lot to the pacing of the game. It then would be hide -> wait -> sneak on to a wolf -> wait for the right moment -> kill him -> hide -> score some points -> hide and so forth which would essentially be low pressure -> high pressure -> medium -> low.
