I quite liked this one after figuring out what it was I was supposed to be doing :P Nice work on this, I really like your main puzzle mechanic

I like that, to bad I lost so quickly)
Fun and addicting mechanics and simplistic sounds fits great. Little confusing at first that you need to move to opposite color. Still enjoyable experience.
Good work! The only thing is that I'm not sure how this ties into the theme? Other than that it was fun to play with a nice central mechanic.
So weird! So spooky! Love the spooky music.
This is quite clever! Very good and simple gameplay mechanic, well thought. Although the difficulty must be too high for me, I couldn't complete the first stage even after a few tries ^^' Ideally, levels should be handmade to have a slowly increasing challenge \o/ But good work, it's polished and nice :)
If I'd time I would have added bonuses like exploding jack-o-lanterns to help clear stages. Your goal is really to get as many points as you can from a stage before continuing rather than clearing a stage but we seem locked into that "clear the stage" mentality. I'm learning a lot! Huge thanks to everyone for playing, commenting, and rating!
Nice core game loop, the sound really fit the game well. Hard to connect to the theme though, empty poison meters?
@trusty You got it. I should do more music, that is my strong point. Thanks for commenting!
I got caught in the game and retried many times. The game is complete and feels nice to play, the only thing is the rules not being clear at the beginning. Otherwise everything sticks well together and is pleasant to play, good job!
@blint6 Thanks! Did you click on the question mark and open the in-game help? I;m not sure if it would have been much more help though :)
@locomule Oooh nope didn't see that! Helpul indeed, just need to see it :)
@blint6 Ok, thanks so much. That is hat I ws worried about because many people mention being confused but no one has mentioned the help. Learning a lot, thanks again!!
The music is incredible! Also, I love the fact that you've used a really simple mechanic to make such a great game that is intuitive to understand yet difficult to execute. Great design!
Very nice little puzzle game, I liked playing it. Cool choice of the platform to make a game!
@piturnah Thanks so much!I used BeepBox to make the music, it is free and a ton of fun. I'm also a musicican so that helps a lot :)
@bootak Thanks! It is funny, I've used Scratch for 10 years and always wanted to try it in Ludum. Wow, it is so fast (for me) to design in it is just crazy. I had a fever for 4 days before the competition began so I wound up taking naps and playing ,io games during some of my 48 hours. I can't wait for the next Ludum competition, I'm going to really go for it. But shhh... I don't see anyone else using Scratch which is weird considering how many users it has? Probably not too many that have used it as long s me :D If anyone asks tell them Scratch suuuuucks for game jams and we'll keep it our little secret!!
Great puzzle mechanics. And fantastic music! I can tell you're a musician :) This has the potential to be a good mobile game. Well done.
Love the audio! Great little puzzle game which isn't too punishing if player lost. Cute little 2D sprites and wasn't too difficult to understand. Great job! Nice way to throw back players by using Scratch rather than Unity, very nostalgic.
I managed to get a highscore of 108, I'm not sure where that puts me compared to everyone else?
I like how simple the concept is but how satisfying it is, I could see this being a nice little mobile game. I was surprised at how well made it was to say it is a scratch game.
The only improvement I would make is put a different sound when you are one space away from death (I died many times because I thought I could move more than I could actually)
Also nice music!
I liked the game mechanics, although it's tough from the start (didn't finish a single level). Audio and graphics were ok. Cool entry!
Nice game! It took me some time to realize that the space bar did something :) My best score before using the free passes was 57, which is not bad I guess.
@attala Wow, thanks a lot!
@humphreysmedia I've been at Scratch 10 years but this is my first Ludum. I take it Scratch was once more widely used in Ludum Dares? I haven't seen anyone else using it this time. I was sick and sat out much of my 48 hours so I;d love to see what I can really do with it next time.
@blaster391 Thanks a lot for your great observations. I wanted to add a permanent high score list but ran out of time. As for it being a Scratch game I;ve been there 10 years, I've done some pretty complex stuff. I'm about to release a 3D voxel modeler that you can save models as text files so users can import/export them for trading. It is gonna be rather huge, kind of a celebration of being there 10 years. One of my most popular projects is a virtual keyboard that records your playing live and also has import/export for song trading.
The concept is clever, and I feel you respected the theme with the twist of 'start with nothing' but try to get nothing more ;) I got to 1120 but could go infinitely with tickets so stopped there.digger.png
Perhaps after a point you could introduce items that count as 2, or increase the rarity of tickets? Also, you could start easy with slow filling metter (4-5 before being full) and ramping up to 2-3.
In any case, I had a fun moment, cool entry, nice music, and innovative in its scope. Well done
@joqlepecheur Thanks so much for the great review and suggestions and congrats on figuring out the best strategy. The code is actually randomized so it is possible to get rounds without passes but with care yes, you can go a long ways. What blows my mind is that basically the ONLY thing blocking people from figuring out the best strategy is this weird mindset so many of us seem to share, the need to CLEAR THE BOARD, lol. Even when, as in this case, there is no additional incentive offered for clearing a board. I wonder what the effect would be of going back an forth, of paying players off for clearing some boards while clearing as little as possible of others? DOTA Underlords has both win and lose streak bonuses because you can come on strong towards the end by laying back at the beginning. Makes for nice strategy dynamics and makes the game more interesting.
