As much as I question whether this is really world peace, not just a mass dictatorship, I did find this a lot of fun. It feels a bit like risk, starting off in australia, building resources (and asia being a very difficult place to capture). I enjoyed strategically throwing down walls to create smaller areas to convert in safety (one issue I had is I have no idea how setting the direction of the walls worked, it just seemed to change randomly).

I did feel like some of the ending powers are a bit too powerful (mainly followers can't be converted, that makes the game basically an instant win), so I had a lot more fun when I played a second time and avoided that upgrade.

Maybe as an extension to this, if you wanted to add to it, add something that drains resources as well as add them? So you can't just make infinite money, I feel like it would add an extra level of strategy.

I really love the idea here, starting out with converting small groups and continually increasing your following. Sadly it's a bit too easy to achieve this. After converting a bit your income stream is so big that you can quickly buy all the upgrades and then the conversion becomes even easier. Still, the mechanics are well explained, and despite the short play time it was still fun, so congrats!

The concept is really cool and the game is quite fun to play.

This game was pretty cool, and fun to play as well.

The things that stuck out to me was the idea, it was pretty cool with the world population and such.

Being able to start areas and then go on, moving throughout the world was interesting. Having to convince people I was peaceful rather than take over their countries/areas by force was a nice touch too, however it led to some difficult problems gameplay wise xD Also, once you have enough people you make a lot and lot of money, which makes the game very easy. Otherwise, the game was still well thought out and had solid mechanics. Good Job!

Absolutely love this game! Really fun mechanics, nice to have upgrades, satisfying to convert followers, and the general style of the game is just brilliant. The music right at the end is fantastic too. Great Game!

I like the idea a lot, and the progression is nice. It was a bit hard to kind of get an idea of when you're doing good or bad though, and I'm sure the gameplay could be expanded to be a bit more exciting. It's cool that it is kind of a simulation.

The sound design is fun as well!

Very fun game to play, nice original idea. Maybe it's too easy right now, but i'm sure you can make that game way better easily then i'd want to play again! good job

Hah, this was fun! I got near the end and one little jerk was hiding in a Hobbit Hole in New Zealand, but I hunted that little guy down and nailed the game. Good stuff, well done :)

Excellent use of the theme, I'd considered trying something similar but couldn't think of a Ludum Dare friendly way to do it and just went with something easier.

The game plays really well, almost a bit like a clicker game. Amusingly, it feels like you've created a game about creating world peace that plays like starting a zombie apocalypse, given the conversion mechanics! Upgrades felt good and it felt like there were a lot of ways that I could have approached the scenario to try and do things more efficiently.

Nice game and concept. I enjoyed playing it. Great job!

hjalte 2017-05-16 19:53

I like the use of theme in this entry. It was fun to convince people that you're peaceful. One thing that was a bit weird was the difficulty. It got really easy towards the end, but I can forgive that :). Good job!

Interesting game. Graphics could be better but for me that's only one thing to upgrade in this game :)

orquigames 2017-05-16 20:11

Goob game! interesting!

feips 2017-05-16 20:13

I like the idea of convincing people to be peaceful. Good Job

ptsnoop 2017-05-16 20:20

Nice game. Not too challenging, but it's surprisingly satisfying just painting the world blue.

chrras 2017-05-16 20:26

Thats a really nice concept, and really satisfying! Good job! Could be a bit harder and with more features, but it's definitely nice.

If you have the opportunity, please rate our game too, it's also under 20 ratings: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/shrunk-down :)

acuity 2017-05-16 20:44

This is pretty cool! The upgrade system is neat, and I like the music that it has, although it doesn't seem to loop.

Please rate my game, too! I'm barely under 20 ratings still! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/spike-spire

tygrak 2017-05-16 20:49

Yay I did it! I like the concept. Maybe, the other nations could have their own leaders and then it could become a cool strategy game.

Overall I like it, its fun and thats the most important thing! Good job.

An all around solid entry for a Compo entry. It's short, but effectively simple, and fun to play. I love the sound effects, the little guitar riff when you purchase an item, the little sound effects when converting people. This was a lot of fun, and I think a lot of the humour comes from the prospect of making conversion to peace this simple. It would be interesting to see this premise taken to other planets, maybe. But generally it was a short but satisfyingly good playthrough.

risingoat 2017-05-16 20:56

The mechanic is simple, but really engaging. In addition, it's really cool to play a game based on making the world a peaceful place. I think it wouldbe even better with subscenarios and even more upgrades. The walls were a funny idea, although I didn't need them to win.

If you have time (and at ealstone available friend) consider trying mine: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/this-hell-is-too-small-for-us-all

Thanks!

Love this entry ! An end-game message or something like that would have been nice. I really enjoy the music and the gameplay. Great job :)

risingoat 2017-05-16 21:03

Actually, I have played a second time and I think that you could make awesome modes by limiting upgrades. I played using only walls and speed upgrades and the game changes a lot, still being funny. Limiting the player to diferent combinations of upgrades can generate a lot of replayability.

occultone 2017-05-16 23:08

I Played this on Livestream today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YtyZ8Rudok

I feel like this game would be a great platform to really "Say something". Either for or against the one-world philosophy of the UN. Great job, I really enjoyed this.

boorik 2017-05-16 23:58

Great game. Nice work
