Well well well, that was awesome :D It only lacks a background music IMO :p I enjoyed the game, the graphisms are cool, the sounds very effective, the gameplay funny and the stress present ^^ I loved it ! Thanks !

my favorite entry so far, I like the concept and the mining is satisfing yet addictive! maybe the only bad thing is that it didnt match the theme completely but it's fine for me!

I found this game very hard! But for some reason kept playing it for maybe an hour. When I first started I didn't realize you can destroy the block below and to the left of you with good positioning, but once I realized that it became a very tactical game, where a slow and steady approach was rewarded, and each run was different depending on spawns and bomb placements.

The visuals and sound was very good, except for the white noise of the bomb fuse that seemed a bit off.

Even though I didn't complete this game I still enjoyed my time with it, thank you.

@blaster391 I agree about the bomb noise. I also wanted to do a better bomb fuse animation and have bombs throwable, but it was not meant to be. Perhaps in a post-compo version.

Hi! I also find this game too hard. It was very tricky to jump over the crabs. On the other hand, I loved the character animation, the bomb explosion and the graphics and sound in general. If you tweak it a bit, you can go on with this game. Who knows, if you tweak it in the wrong direction, it might be the new FlappyBird? :D

Very nice game! I liked all the sound effects. The explosion particle effect is also very nice! Super concept very fun to play! Congratulation for this great job!

The first thing that stood out for me was how good the character looked. Loved his little hat as he jumped, animation was spot on for that character.

The choice of soundfx for picking and breaking blocks was satisfying and gave me the feeling I get when I pop bubble wrap! :D

Good was fun, very difficult without a lucky bomb as those crabs would just appear, HOWEVER very cool concept and I'm sure if it wasn't in a tight time limit this could be really expanded and worked upon!

I look forward to any future development and good job!

Good work on this one. Really complete game, with nice graphics and sounds (except some volume issues). Wasn't too easy, just hard enough. Multiple game mechanics to "worry" about, I really liked it.

Graphics and sounds are fitting and consistent. The gameplay is fun and challenging in a right manner. Great Work!

Small sidenote: X and Z are really inconveniently placed on german keyboards.

REALLY fun game. Made me swear on multiple occasions. If the transition between death and the new game was shorter, you would reduce the frustration from deaths.

Nice fun game! There is something really pleasant in the controls. I don't know why, but I really liked moving and picking... The gameplay is simple but works fine, challenge is good. Just one thing: the randomness of bomb droping is sometimes unfair, sometimes just annoying: I hated waiting that all bombs explode...

This game is very fun! I do agree about the difficulty. I think one of two things would have reduced the frustration level Either:

1. Give HP or Lives 2. Make crabs stun you when hit, and kill you if hit again while stunned 3. Make crabs harmless for the first second or so after revealing them so if you reveal a crab it doesn't immediately kill you, OR 4. Allow swinging your pickaxe to temporarily stun crabs, and touching a stunned crab (by failing to jump over it, say) is harmless.

Any one of those would drop the frustration level (for me, at least) a great deal; if you did more than one, it might make the game a bit too easy, but that could be compensated for by adding additional challenges, or simply adding additional content to work towards.

Regardless, this is pulled off quite well for a compo entry, as @rplnt said it feels very complete. I know you had mechanics you wanted to include that you didn't get around to, but it doesn't show - with some compo games, you can 'see' the holes left by the missing mechanics, but that's not the case here. Good job!

I had great time with this game. The graphics are nice. Only downside is, that the crabs always kill me. :) I played with xbox controller, it worked fine.

@philomory The crabs are indeed harmless for the first 1.5 seconds after you reveal them (unless there is a bug), but I definitely need some visual feedback on that. Maybe a sleeping crab that wakes up. Thanks for the excellent feedback.

I played a lot! It's very fun. I got a bit frustrated after deaths, it would be nice to have a powerup or a health bar so you don't die at the first contact with crabs for example. But overall it's great! just keep working on this game!

Great game! Sometimes it was hard finding the exits and the crabs sometimes got me before I had a chance to react. I definitely think that your pixel art has improved compared to your previous entries. I would like to see this game expanded with more enemies, powerups, and things to buy with the money that you've collected.

I found this game a bit frustrating. The randomness of the enemy and bomb placements meant that success often came down to luck. I got stuck on level 3 for some time, then breezed through the next levels on my first try. One time I ended up at the bottom of the level, with all rocks destroyed following a bomb chain reaction, yet the door was floating above me halfway up the level unable to be reached (or any option to restart the level).

Also, what are these crabs made out of? I think most players would assume you could at least stun the crabs with a swing of your pick but they didn't even budge. Maybe some offensive upgrades that could be purchased with the gold you gather would be a good idea (as there is little reason to actually collect gold at the moment).

The graphics were definitely very nice and the sound effects all fit. I think some retro background music would fit very well too. It was an OK use of the theme, more of a small place than a small world. Having the UP arrow also activate jump would be a useful addition for keyboard users.

The little shake of the block and the particle effects make the mining feels very good! I really like the idea of finding your way to the exit without being able to mine the upper blocks. I just find it really hard when a wild crabby appears and you nearly haven't a chance to escape from him. Overall a great game! Had fun!

Cool game, but the crabs that kill you in 1 hit are really annoying, it would be better if you give a player a health bar or hearts and then only 5 or 6 hits would kill the player. Maybe you should reduce their hitboxes too, because its kind of hard to jump over them. Also I noticed that you can push the bombs but it's so slow that I just didn't have the patience to do it. Anyway very nice pixel art on the main character and the animation is beautiful!
