Well done !!

blaster391 2021-04-26 22:30

I really like the bubble trail effect on the weapon projectiles.

The core loop was pretty fun, however the difficulty didn't appear to ramp up all that much (I made it to about 230m before I stopped). It would be cool to have more or faster sharks as you get lower :)

ipodtouch0218 2021-04-26 22:31

Only small thing I've noticed is that the despawn range for the harpoons is shorter than the render distance of the fishes, forcing you to wait for them to approach. Fun little game nonetheless!

saeedprez 2021-04-26 22:43

@blaster391 Thanks! The sharks health increase based on depth, starting with 2 shots to kill them and slowly increasing. Being a game jam I didn't want to make it too difficult.

saeedprez 2021-04-26 22:45

@ipodtouch0218 The harpoon range is by design, being in deep water there is a lot of drag so their velocity wears of pretty quickly. I've made the sharks visible from further distance so you can spot them and plan ahead 😊 Thanks for playing.

Fun arcade game! I especially like that biting-animation  The part that is most interesting in the gameplay is that they appear in the distance and you have to move 360 degrees to see what's coming.

The only thing I'd change is the interval between the harpoon-trowing. Now you can basicly spam the harpoons to kill the fish.

love the 3D art. the combat was accurate. the game felt familiar and comfortable. good job!

bauke-regnerus 2021-04-27 09:58

Simple game, the graphics are really polished.

f1refoks 2021-04-27 16:19

Looks awesome, models and animation 5/5

mamon 2021-04-27 16:21

Liked how you implemented controls tutorial in main menu. Underwater projectiles are super cool! Have you tried 1st person POV? Could be more realistic and scary :D

"Since I’ve started learning Blender recently" I expected to see a donut on a table somewhere in the game after reading that ;)

Simple and polished. The first shark that did sneak up on me scared me :)

Crunchy game over sound too! The shooting sound got a bit repetetive after a while.

peace-of-cake-games 2021-04-27 16:28

*Really* big improvement since the in-progress version! The graphics are spot-on, and the audio is perfect for the underwater environment.

That "little fishy" pulled a dirty move and snuck up behind me while I was shooting someone else.... smart "little fishy".

One thing that would be interesting to see in a post-jam version is when you hit certain intervals (every 100 meters?) the sharks stop spawning temporarily and you have to do a boss fight against a kraken or something.

Pro: Water, Diver and shoots look great!

Cons: Fish model and eating of the diver could be improved. :)

thevinter 2021-04-27 16:41

Nice little game, it certainly is polished and the models are nice. Some more variation would've been neat as well as a difficulty ramp up, it's pretty easy as of now :P

larsdu 2021-04-28 03:58

Entertaining and looks good.

betovf 2021-04-28 07:50

Nice graphics and atmosphere! I would add a cooldown interval for the harpoon as others have said.

andrewkennedy 2021-04-29 16:28

Glad to see you fixed the gun aiming - that went a long way towards making the game feel interactive. I kept getting blinders on by trying to shoot the sharks in the distance, and failed to notice the ones sneaking up behind me.

I think overall, the pacing feels a little slow. Maybe some variation in the shark approach patterns and sizes could have helped that.

Overall, pretty solid game loop, and cute graphics. The small bubbles really gave you the reference for feeling that you were falling. I've played a lot of diving games where the descent feels static, because there's nothing to reference for movement.

Nice work!

I love the graphics(especially the diver), and the gameplay was so fun.

The game has also a great atmosphere.

Very good and fun game. Good job.

brendev 2021-05-01 17:26

Great work on the atmosphere, good job!

love the graphics! Agree with some of the other comments, some variation in the fish/sharks would be cool, and maybe a slight darkening of the water as you go deeper. To be honest, I may have not gotten deep enough to notice that :. It did take me a few restarts to get the keyboard working for some reason, but on try 3 I was gold. Took a bit to get used to moving around to find more fish to shoot XD. I noticed even though we could see the fish a while off, they didn't take damage until they were closer (or at least the health bar didn't show up until then. The sounds were great! would love to have some light music in the background. Nice work!!

Nice game! Gameplay and controls are clear, sounds help a lot to create an interesting submarine mood, good visuals. Maybe I would like to see some visual/sound feedback to feel my progression in the depth (darker, more pressure, etc) but maybe I didn't play enough? Also, use the 3D sound to know, as player, where are the enemies. But it's great and I enjoyed playing it!

offdutyextractors 2021-05-02 11:54

Very pretty models. Gameplay is very basic and gets boring pretty quick. Variety in enemies or attacks would make the game much more interesting.

timo-gass 2021-05-03 18:57

Great game! I love the amtosphere. It just feels underwater :D

Anyways I gave up after 250m.. xD Some more enemies and different abilities and I would have rated it even higher!
