LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Wormhunter by Thorig 2014-04-30T20:23:00

Very nice graphics, congratulations. The gameplay feels like a boss battle, perhaps the game needs something else to complement the worm fight. Nevertheless a great entry to the jam, well done!

The Creature of the Depths Must Feed his Sheep by TheColorMan 2014-04-29T17:24:00

Very cool!

I found the controls a little bit awkward, but may be it's me!

Rage against the Rectangles by tankete 2014-04-29T13:05:00

As Juan Martínez (my real name, no joke); I'm amused! :)

Submarine (treasure hunting) by reidrac 2014-04-28T21:58:00

@longshorts: thanks, I'm happy you like the graphics :)

@Tuism: I didn't have time to get too deep into the enemies AI. At least they accelerate and turn the same way the player submarine does. I no way perfect, but... I couldn't do more! :) Thanks for your comment! Very appreciated!

Submarine (treasure hunting) by reidrac 2014-04-29T12:15:00

InfectionTeam: you're probably right! This is the first time I implement that kind of movement (tried to make it feel like it is underwater).

Thanks everybody for the feedback :)

Submarine (treasure hunting) by reidrac 2014-04-30T05:54:00

Green Lightning: it's a good idea, also the enemy submarines shouldn't go through the mines. I didn't have too much time to work on these details!

Thanks for you comment!

Beneath The Memories by StuffBySpencer 2014-04-29T12:03:00

Very cool, I love the audio (very "Thomas Was Alone"). It sets the mood perfectly. Awesome!

Hanoka by Wolve 2014-04-29T17:51:00

I love this game, but it's not fair you used 3rd party music even if audio it's not rated :(

Siren Song by mark.goetz 2014-04-29T11:53:00

Amazing art and good gameplay design. very solid entry, congratulations!

Under My Skin by codevinsky 2014-04-29T16:59:00

Interesting game! I can't get pass the 2 Level, the game gets stuck on "press space to continue" after the "Influenza" message box.

I've notices lots of webgl errors in the js console (just in case it helps: WebGL: INVALID_VALUE: vertexAttribPointer: index out of range ). I don't know if it is related!

Save your tribe! by FrameMatt 2014-04-29T11:47:00

Very cool! :) I love the graphics, well done!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

The Lion's Song by LeafThief 2014-08-31T09:22:00

Th 32-bit version plays just fine in Linux, although to me is better to start the game in a window... jumping straight to fullscreen may not work ;)

Window mode and filter graphics x3 is perfect!

Other than that, excellent graphics and interesting story. Well done!

NECLiD by 0x0961h 2014-08-26T16:29:00

Really impressive for 48 hours. The graphics, the music, amazing... well done!

Arktrail by DaanVanYperen 2014-08-25T09:26:00

My favourite entry so far!

Did you do some sound effects with your mouth? :D

DUAL Adventure by reidrac 2014-08-25T07:17:00

I couldn't adjust properly the jumps :( I'm glad you like the graphics.

There's a short and a long jump, but in practice is a little bit to difficult to use and you may end hitting your head with the ceiling.

DUAL Adventure by reidrac 2014-08-25T10:10:00

Posva: I was playing with the idea of a "pink" world and a "blue" world. You're "a pink", and hence the contact with blue things hurt you. Going down the pit I was expecting to include enemies and kind of explain via conversation with NPC that the blue world was leaking into the pink world and eventually you find a way to correct the situation and then "become a hero".

Well, obviously it was ridiculously ambitious for a 48 hours challenge, but overall I got pretty far. I didn't have a specific plan for some of it (eg, what is the interaction with the enemies?), or how to play the "dual" idea of two worlds and the problems of them "connecting", and what is more important: why?

I'm glad you all seem to like the graphics. That means I'm improving my skills :)

DUAL Adventure by reidrac 2014-08-25T10:12:00

joppiesaus: ha! the update loop is independent on the draw loop, but the updates run on 80 updates per second. That's really interesting, I would have expected it to work just fine!

Could it be an issue with requestAnimationFrame implementation in your browser? Thanks for the feedback!

DUAL Adventure by reidrac 2014-08-27T14:26:00

KevinZuhn: thanks for the feedback! I totally agree with all your points.

The game engine supports checkpoints, but at the end I didn't use them because it would have been too easy. The jump needs adjustments (eg, being more forgiving when jumping from the edge of a platform, issues with collisions, etc), and I couldn't implement a proper camera allowing the player to look up and down.

The game is not finished so I tried to make it a little bit of a challenge so people could play it for some minutes. It is scary when you must jump into the void not knowing if there's water waiting for you at the bottom, isn't it? ;)

Ports Ahoy! The Age of Trade by Literal Games 2014-08-26T16:15:00

Really fun to play, excellent game!

Multidimensional Bull Slaughter by Jani Nykänen 2014-08-25T16:09:00

I won't ask!

Hop Hop Planet by SnoutUp 2014-08-25T19:18:00

Very nice :)

I found the mechanics a little bit slow, but other than that this is a very solid entry.
