LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

thanks, I hate it! by thristhart 2017-12-10T02:17:19Z

I liked the game. Very true to the theme, started to lag a bit once i broke 200 with all the things to do. I really liked how it forces you to multitask, and multitask well. You soon learn to listen for simon, click buttons only when flashing, and zero in on answers only in trivia. I don't understand the pictures one, and didn't get farther than that.

All that said, only improvements I can think of other than fix lag are add some sort of very minor story, and to maybe have some powerups to freeze panels in higher levels. (if you want to keep with the theme, maybe frozen panels then go double the speed to catch up)

But even if you don't add those, its a good game as is. :)

One Final Task by HuvaaKoodia 2017-12-09T20:42:56Z

I really liked this game. The only real criticisms are it needs a reset button, and it needs to be longer. :D

i can think of a few improvements otherwise. 1. add a level editor. user created levels are always fun. 2. maybe add a level solver, too. Have the AI actually try it with you, maybe a version where you have to actually beat the AI at a puzzle (and maybe that AI doesn't know a thing about it) 3. maybe add a final puzzle where you beat the AI at its job, winning your job back.

The last level was well put together. It took me quite a few tries to beat, but once i understood the pattern, it was fun! Each new component was introduced rather well. Easy, but forces you to learn what each part does. No real complaints, other than wanting more! :D

CARnage by Rolle 2017-12-10T05:54:27Z

So this doesn't really feel like my kind of game, but the idea is amazing! The only two racers I ended up truly enjoying are Crash Team Racing, and the Sonic Riders games. Still, for what i played, I'm pretty impressed.

The music is a good choice, the controls are pretty spot on, and the race itself is hard enough to be a good game. The game seems very polished, and that's a big plus. Animated blood is great!

All that said, the screams seemed a bit long in my opinion, (but that makes it more fun) That's really my only true complaint.

improvements: 1. add more racetracks 2. add different kinds of people that each die in different ways. (different splats? Aliens?) 3. multiplayer! 4. add more cars, more wheels, etc 5. make the boost areas a different color, maybe? I usually see green or red, depending on the game. And along those lines, maybe have different levels of boost, each with a different color. 6. if the focus ever is removed from the game window, it would be better for the game to pause. that way you wont lose your place

Woods and Wolverines by Juhani Koskinen 2017-12-09T20:03:00Z

I liked how the game worked, even if it isn't obvious that you pick up improved weapons.

The music and intro worked very well, but the rest of the game didn't seem to match the mood. The enemies were rather easy (until you got to birds), and it was also too easy to get to a point with the moose battle where he constantly was able to hurt you with reckless abandon. (just stay at the bottom)

It wasn't too easy to shoot as you only get to shoot where you're facing, so you had to move towards the enemy to shoot them, and most of them are faster than you are. That means you can't hide or avoid the enemies, you can only use the map to your advantage, as they wont go around trees. Even that wouldn't work with birds, however.

Overall it was pretty fun, though I'm not sure how much replay value there is. Once i got to birds, and nothing seeming to work with them killing me, I stopped playing. Good idea, its just too easy to die i think.

Gas or Pass by Kobi Hawk 2017-12-05T03:21:21Z

I liked the idea of this. More fuel = slower and you have to try and balance between fuel and speed. I found the controls were a bit too fast for me, but acceleration was A+. I got confused a few times with why the game just seemed to pause. Only game over after you hit escape?

Quirks aside, though, its actually a pretty cool game. Good time-waster, even if its short. :)

Kitten Keeper by Draklaw 2017-12-09T21:11:46Z

I rather enjoyed this game. It showed me that too many cats can mean the cats are unhappy, especially if they don't get what they want/need.

It seems that even if you give them what they want, or what they want is nearby, they won't always go to it, even if its uncrowded. However, I find that's somewhat realistic, as they don't always know about it if it's behind a wall or whatever. The only thing they will instantly go for is the medicine, no matter what. Because of this, once you get more and more cats, you can set up things kind of in a spaced way, and after about 50 cats, the rest is just buying more of what most of the cats need. you no longer need to move them.

A few ways I can see to improve this game: 1. Add different kinds of cats that want different things 2. cats like affection, maybe add people to pet and care for the cats 3. add different foods, different beds, upgrades to every item 4. add a way to clean up dead cats, and make it so cats will avoid an area with a dead cat 5. add different houses, different areas for the cats

Overall a great game. I'll probably play again. :)

Dodge the Death Coins by JustMars 2017-12-10T02:37:05Z

I liked this idea. Simple premise, simple game. Games like this where controls are explained in process of playing are usually very successful, and I think this one was too.

It would have been better if in the going straight forward area with regular controls, the pieces you pass become translucent, so we know which way to go, but other than that, no real complaints!

There are a lot of ways this can be improved. more levels, timers, color customization, powerups, different things to avoid, things to collect, etc. But the basic idea of the game is there. Well-played. :)
