Rogue Thief Stealer Person by Lasty 2012-12-17T05:14:00
That's weird because Its written in C++ not C#/mono .. I Also built it on C:/Users/.../Desktop/LD25/ so I wonder if something else is going on at your end? :(

Thanks for the comments guys...
1: Lighting! Yes my first attempt at multiple lights GLSL shader
2: Yeah camera was annoying, no time to fix, (was going to have it rotate behind the player or something)
2: It's a feature not a bug to get caught and keep playing/winning :D
3: Yeah gameplay not that great, I had grand ideas of putting in switches/gates/doors/alarms/safes/chests, and better AI than a firefly from boulderdash :)
Zombies don't know what sine waves are... or do they? Aargh!
Would have loved to see what you come up with given more time.
Thanks for the comments and feedback :D
I realise it was a bit harsh to start the players with low hunger at first.. Probably should have bumped that up more... But If I had, they would have no immediate goal, and it would become a bit boring.
I should have made a better intro/tutorial screen, but.. ran out of time and lack of sleep so yeah. I tried to put some intro screens at the last minute, but I had no infrastructure in place for it, so it was poor planning on my part.
The physics, yes I couldn't quite get the player right.. I had simulated friction on the player, but he kept the same velocity when you stopped input. I couldn't get the friction right, somehow. I figured it was good enough and could tweak it later. Might use a library like Box2D next time.
As for coins on the overworld, I didn't even think of removing them all, facepalm ensues.
JoshuaBurr: Thanks for OSX feedback, I probably missed including a library or a framework in the app bundle. What version were you using? It was built for Mavericks 64bit.
The unhelpful error message is OSX's I think, not mine :( If you could click on "Report..." then copy the text there into a pastebin, I can try and fix it. (Then click don't send)
Cool idea. The graph/nodes and RGB really appealed to my computer scientist side :)
Was not immediately obvious what to do though. Maybe some tutorial popup text "click here to attack" could have worked. And maybe scale the inner nodes down a bit to speed up the initial game. (Or maybe I just rolled a bad seed)
Fun to beam those piggies up! Scored 5400, got lucky several times with groups huddled together on the edges of the map :)
Fantastic! The tutorial crab was a nice touch :)
The art style for the character was really good, especially the slide when you stopped. Would've been nice to see the finished version at a higher framerate.
Cool idea.. hamster simulator :D hehe
Controls could have done with some tweaking.. maybe an FOV adjustment. Left/Right went way too fast, up/down went way too slow.
Could have added shift to run/sprint .. took too long to cover ground.
Thanks for the feedback and comments! I have made Patch 1 which addresses most of these issues (Background tiles contrast, And some other bug fixes)
It should now be super obvious to see the weapons/pickups, and the monsters.
Thanks! The pros and cons of using HTML elements for GUI .. 1: no programming, 2: it stole the focus. Fixed that now (Patch2)
As for monster speeds, they were actually calculated by Box2D.. they all get applied the same force. The larger ones had more mass, and therefore went slower. Probably could have used a tweak, but oh well.
For more easter eggs, the graphics art folder is called "ProgrammerArt" :D
Very nice music, looked like a promising start :)
You really needed some on hit feedback.. I was confused for a while, the character is holding a gun, makes shooting sounds as if firing a gun, but only has melee attacks.
Very cool.. One of the more polished entries :D (Think my high score was 35 carrots before I got swarmed and cornered)
I like the ingenious way of introducing the controls via the help screens at the start (blocking until you press W and up)
Would have been nice to see all scarved snowmen drop scarves. I either got really unlucky dice rolls or they have a bit too low droprate.
There's never enough engineers!
Nicely executed, interesting idea. Could have done with a bit more feedback (but I understand time constraints in these jams). Took me a few goes to figure out what the hell I was doing.
Fantastic! I went through and played the in-progress links too.. nice to see how it evolves over time :)
PS. I rescued the kitties. (Wasn't sure if something was meant to happen or not)
Damnit I knew I should have double checked that. :( Missing .DLLs are in the .zip files now.
I Got more of a dungeon keeper and/or populous vibe from this than lemmings. Great use of the themes, great aesthetic, graphics.
Had a giggle at a few things, like accidentally throwing your own guy off the cliff.. then catching him just before he disappeared. phew!, saved him.
Then later on forgetting I had the wall spell on, and instead of picking him up, he just went splat!
Had an issue when I held onto a red guy for too long, I think my mana went into negative and took a very long time to recover. Could have used WASD/Arrow keys scrolling too.
Very well done entry, great use of the theme to tie in with puzzle elements (rotating gears) The aesthetic/mood was rather spooky (in a good way)
