LD26 — Minimalism

Octopia by My Sweet Whomp 2013-04-29T21:54:00

Personally, I wasn't a fan of the art style, but I can tell you have talent and put a lot of effort into it! The ridiculousness of everything made me giggle a couple times also. That's definitely a beaver with a Star Fox glasses HUD on a T-Rex with a laser cannon, which, when fired, causes the T-Rex to flip his completely around, bend over, and blast whatever's in front of him.

I found the gameplay rather boring, however. =(

Game perhaps wasn't running properly on my PC, but it was a little slow and there was no sound.

Collisions tended to be odd. Random tiles were very haphazard. Game was extremely easy. Mood was great and I like the idea, but it could be better executed. Even in 48 hours. =)

Winning sound effect is obnoxious. Controls are painfully painful (and you know it!) and the death messages are great. And those terrible spikes are certainly squares. XD

Controls were a bit annoying and I got stuck on one level and had to restart the entire thing. Other than that, I really like the idea and had a lot of fun playing!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

No Name by Mr-Hide 2014-08-28T21:40:00

Intro screen with the level selection thing needs to be more clear. Use the arrow keys to select 1 or 2 then hit space I believe to choose that level.

I had a lot of fun jumping on Skeleton heads. Also took me a long time to figure out how to attack (Right Control?)

It's a basic-y platformer with killer skeletons! Art was neat. I would've liked to see some bonus pickups or something. Good job!

Really like the idea of this game! Would love to see a finished and polished version with more action!

Also, controls are slippery. Yuck. =(

Opened up the game, "Woah! Looks neat!... Now what..." had no idea what to do, came back to this page, found the controls, alright! Let's play.

Numbers by the planets had no meaning (that I could tell) hacked a few planets, figured out the red shield was probably the firewall, would get the win screen immediately followed by the fail screen almost every time. Finally got to level 2 and tried nearly everything but always got win screen + fail screen immediately afterwards.

Really hard to aim - controls in general feel really weird. A simple, but fun game otherwise.

Really fun game! I thoroughly enjoyed it! For a primary screenshot, though, definitely put a screenshot of mid-gameplay. I was expecting something entirely different. Also took me a while to figure out exactly how to "lock in" a color on a side.

Spacewatch by SleepyStudios 2014-08-28T01:53:00

Fun game! No audio, though on Windows 8 64bit. Took me a while to get good!

Nonomnia by robodylan 2014-08-26T02:44:00

Nothing telling me what to do or how to control my guy. Immediately got stuck in a pit. Repeat about 6 times. Came back looking for hints on how to play or get unstuck, something about a "high jump"? Couldn't figure out how to do it.

Engine is alright - collision detection is a little broken when moving left and you get caught between blocks. Needs some serious work, but the basics are there.

Keep working! Be sure to tell your player what they're doing in SOME way.

WorldWar of Connectidia by Goutye 2014-08-28T01:46:00

Tutorial was well made, but the game was so long that by the time I doing something besides killing bats over and over and over I forgot what I was doing. Good idea, though!

Phil and Charlie's Adventure by LesInk 2014-08-28T02:05:00

I really enjoyed this! Simple, effective, and I played through it like 5 times before I realized I was a giant idiot! Characters got me to like them and everything. Pleasantly surprised by my enjoyment of this game even in its simplicity.

Just Shoot Glowy Balls by ericdpitts 2014-08-28T01:26:00

I liked the mood of the game. Sort of an eery and otherworldliness about it. However, the gameplay lacks any depth. I enjoyed it, though!
