It reminds me of Snake, but I like the idea I can block them and also get stuck on their "corpses"

I like the concept and the quick nature of the rounds.
cool concept, I got stuck a few times and had to restart the game (as a black box would hinder movement)
Good job on your first LDjam entry, and you can only go up from here :) For the next project, I'd recommend getting a dedicated artist so you can focus on gameplay mechanics so you don't have to compromise time to create assets.
REALLY strong idea, lots of fun. Music was really solid, what tracker did you use? Sound effects were way too loud, getting hit by an enemy was hell on my speakers
I like the game. It has potential. What if you have to build a Pentagram with the blocks spawned from the enemy?
If a block isn't attached to other, they get destroyed after a minute. And the game is win or lose. You will succeed or die trying. I like it, it has potential. Good job!
@feedlipe thx, maybe I'll create something somewhat like this or remake this
@darthnumbers Yes, I found out that when you get stuck in a wall and an enemy starts attacking. Sry!
@royale-with-steez Next time my friend will be making the art (hopefully) and I will be coding. Thanks for playing!
The real problem is that whenever you are too close to the enemy you kill, you get trapped in the wall. Most of the time can't even shoot out of it to defend yourself.
@zinkler yes i know. I came up with a fix to this after submission hour.
Good job! the game is what you expect from a first timer, but that's not a bad thing! Many first timers quit before the end of the compo/jam, but not you. You made it through the JAM! Congratz.
@willisika Thx, I'll be sure to check out your game too!
This game is pretty fun to play. It may fit the theme, even though the way I interpret the theme is that the more *you* have, the worse it is. Your game seems to only mean a large number of enemies. The audio is good, except when I got attacked, it kinda hurts my ears (with the echoes). The graphics could be done to make the game look more appealing (plus point for having lavalamps though <3 ). It's pretty innovative with the walls and getting stuck. Another suggestion is that you can make the movement feels more smooth, maybe by making it moves faster or zooming the game in, because it seems a bit slow in my opinion.
@kyle-pham Thx for the feedback! (SPOILER ALERT!: I'm not sure if I can update this after submission hour (This is my first Ludum dare), but I did come up with a fix for getting stuck in walls because it's actually a bug I couldn't fix, but people don't really know). Also, I do agree with the sound for being attacked. Maybe game maker has a play audio until finished script. I'm no artist and hopefully my friend will be doing the art next time.
Some sound issues but for your first ld game this is super good. Way to go from here. Wish you good luck!
Our first Ludum Dare too, a great moment !
@reality-blind @fluffi I'll be sure to play your guy's games too! Also be sure to rate the game! It would be really helpful. Thx for the feedback!
Great little game you have here. I enjoyed the simple graphics and its addictive nature. It could use some polishing around the edges and maybe some more features to keep it interesting but overall very good
Check out my game if you would like! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/virus-detected
Thx for the feedback! I see you are on CSdoesCS's stream. I'll be sure to check out your game!
I am intrigued by your description. Can you release a Linux or web build?
@shinyogre I will try!
As we all know, finishing a Ludum Dare is no easy task! Congratulations on your first jam, and may you have many more to come!
Congratulations on your first LD. This is my first one too. If you can get rid of the bugs, this game would be quite playable. It's smart to keep it simple for your first entry. I had no issues with sound, or much of anything else, just getting stuck on those black boxes.
It's a solid concept, but...
* Did you intend to let the player get stuck in the wall? If so, perhaps you should just kill the player immediately when that happens (with some feedback to let them know how they died). Personally, I would have pushed the player out of the wall and let them continue playing. * The effects on the bullets were uninspiring and not "juicy". Also consider upping the pace of play by making them on-hit-kill and then spawning more enemies to balance that out. * The bullets don't emit from the center of the player character sprite. * The player character sprite doesn't rotate with the mouse. I think it ought to. * I didn't notice much of a change in difficulty when walls were added, except that I had to make sure I wasn't too close to enemies when I killed them. As long as I did that, the game actually got easier because the enemies couldn't chase me as effectively. Implement path finding to enable the enemies to move around the walls. * What determines the orientation of the walls that appear? I think the player ought to have some indirect control over that. This would make the game more strategic.
Interesting concept, congratulations on your first LD! I did get stuck multiple times on the walls, but I had already read the description so I knew about the bug.
It would be useful to have a Health Bar so you can check your own health. I didn't understand the rule for the orientation of spawning the walls, the enemies also got stuck there and I couldn't kill them. Some control over spawning could help. The sound was cool, it fit with the action. Overall it's a great prototype, not the best of the games of course, but for someone who has never done this it's a great first start. Don't let anything unmotivate you, first time and alone it's bound to be a very simple game with simple looks. But you did finish it, so be proud of that. Congratulations :)
@saramartins Thanks for the feedback! :D
Hey Dogsquat! I recently played your game and in case you're interested in my playthrough, have a look here: https://youtu.be/BgkQxnrr8sU
Great fun! I feel that it would have done better without a timer but instead with a health bar.
Please, what is the music name??? This is gonna me crazy xD
