This game is too challenging!! Very innovative though! I tried several times but couldn't go too far. Nice one, mate!

I really like this concept. I agree that it's a bit too challenging as-is, but I was motivated to keep at it. More cues (visual or otherwise) for the key changes would be welcome. I bet this idea would be very interesting if carried over to a gamepad control scheme, too!
This game is really difficult. It is innovative in terms of playing with diifferent keys, but it makes it way too challenging. I kept dying because I couldn't assimilate what the new keys were quickly enough to escape de red enemies. Having to look from the screen to the keyboard was not ideal.
I don't know how you can tone down the difficulty, but it would make it even more engaging, and with some art it could be a good game. Congratulations though in such an innovative idea :)
old school gameplay =) This game is fun to play with controller
Unfortunately I'm getting just a black screen with music.
@thorneto It's a GameMaker.exe so if you have any anti-virus software a black screen can happen.
I have to agree with the others on the difficulty. Maybe one way around it would be to provide a difficulty option? Where the easier difficulty doesn't change the key buttons, or something. But yes, definitely an innovative control scheme, but one that was maybe overly difficult.
I can not help but look down the keyboard to find the certain key,but The enemys constantly come to me. how about only use WASD or →←↑↓ but Adjust their order,In this way I can keep my eyes on the screen. And thank for your work.
I think there's too many enemies at a time, as I found myself constantly wanting to look away from the screen and then just suddenly dead.
Wow! This game took the theme to a whole-nother level. The idea of the controls changing once you use them is an ambitious idea and one I think you should explore more because there's definitely something there. Makes it hard when the game feels like it also relies on skills with dodging enemies and collecting keys. I would suggest to start maybe with each direction mapped to two keys that alternate between uses. Meaning, W becomes Up Arrow when you let go of W and vice-versa. This way the player can get used to the idea of change and there's less information being given to them. I would just have to get into a rhythm and remember what I pressed last :D This is especially true when I have to look at a specific location to see what button they are now, find it on my keyboard, oh and also make sure I don't get hurt by an enemy. :D But seriously, there's something here that with a little more polish can make it more fun
My head hurts! I made it to 8 keys that felt good.
It is a nice concept.. But once I got T to move forward as well as to the left... And V to move down and Right... It was seeming like a little glitch...
Ouch! Double take of the game name! I'm with an AZERTY keyboard, so it was very hard to play for me because at first time I've switched the key map to QWERTY - bad idea XD Really hard, even with the good keymap, I didn't managed to get a lot of keys, but good take of the theme :D
I agree with @prodigalson about an increasing difficulty, seems to always work well
Also, something that might solve both the "looking at your keyboard" issue as well as supporting other keyboard layouts is displaying the physical keyboard in the game and highlighting each active key with the appropriate arrow. Because I'm on vacation and have an excess of creativity I felt like sketching, so here ya'll go :ok_woman:

lol this game. Difficulty ramp is a bit weird and there's too many keys for it to feel like a reasonable accomplishment, but the actual idea is quite funny. I don't mind when a key is used for two values, but I would do a check to make sure it isn't simultaneously on up/down or left/right because it can mess you up in a jam there.
Decent idea though, better than I expected.
For some reason this gave me the vibes of being a submarine commander or such, giving complex orders to move the vessel by a certain vector or such. idk why
Super tense game.
