The game doesn't seem load for me. I get "downloading","running", and then just a black screen (with fullscreen button). Tried two browsers, same result.

Oh, that sounds odd. May I ask what browser(s) and OS you are using?
Windows, tried Chrome and Opera. But now I started up Firefox and it works there. So if you can replicate it, maybe put a note there for others.
The locking is a really frustrating bug. Tried it maybe 5 times, always was careful, but always got locked anyway. No restart button meant I had to reload the whole page and wait for the game to load. Other than the only issue was getting stuck on corners. The graphics and music are nice, and the idea is interesting.
Was really wondering what the ending will be, especially with my scribbling on paper the first few tries. Maybe try to make a post-jam version that addresses that blocking issue.
It's interesting! I liked the general concept, but some of the collision was a bit weird. In particular, I had some issues walking around bushes or walls (the hero didn't "slide" along obstacles), and her overall collision circle seemed a bit too big. Anyway, it was fun! Groupies are the worst!
I like the look of it and the concept, but getting totally stuck and not being able to break free got a bit tiring. Worth developing
I liked the idea that the player has to invest themselves physically in the game! The controls are a bit unresponsive though.
Humorous idea. I loved the concept of being asked to ACTUALLY sign an autograph before continuing. Controls were rough, and I got stuck between fans on the third? level.
Was a cool idea and I really liked the idea of asking the player to use pen and paper. I did find quite a few places where the fan would cause you to not be able to progress because of the collisions. It might be a good idea to turn off the collision after you sign for a fan.
A lot of people made games where you'd have increasingly more enemies. Meanwhile I want to interpret "The more you have, the worse it is", as if we're talking about something that is usually good, but is bad in our game (since it makes more sense and is more original). In your game I see exactly that, there are fans that are usually a good thing, but now they get in your way.
Pros&Cons: - + Graphics, Goal, mechanics and narrative all fit Idol theme. It's clear that game isn't just some random pieces put together. - + Nice basic stealth game mechanics. - + Fans had different look directions/movements and I feel it could add some more of those for variety. - - Sometimes fans would block a path after you sign autograph.
I thought it was a neet idea. I like the idea of having to actually sign something, but there was no real reason to actually do it. I did most of the time. My experience was slightly hampered by the fact that after you sign an autograph sometimes the fans just sit there in the path and you can't move past. If they ran away from you clearing the field, or you could move through satisfied autographees it wouldn't be quite so bad. I had to restart the game several times. I never actually made it to the end because of this. Nice job overall, though!
Nice idea!
I was stuck with some fans but it was fun :)
This was an interesting idea! I had a little trouble with collisions around some of the objects, but all in all this was pretty fun. Was this a team project, though? Or are the songs outside assets? I'm not sure how to rate audio because of that.
Keep up the great work!
Pretty funny idea! First time I've seen a non-puzzle game require writing things down :P The controls were a bit finicky (you can't hold down two directions at once and still move, even non-diagonally, which is frustrating), and there were some collision detection issues - I would get stuck on geometry a fair amount, and I couldn't get past the 3rd level since most of the time the fans would box me in (usually right at the beginning) and trap me. Still a pretty interesting game, nice work.
Great idea but the collisions gave me a hard time. Sometimes when you get caught by the groupies you get completely stuck :/
Anyway, nice humoristic game, congratulations!
Nice idea. And 'You will also need a pen and some scrap paper' for me was like - okay. I don't want to search for it, so don't play it now. But I did, and understood at the end it was a joke. Maybe a a high cost (If you lack ratings)
Character control should be improve. The music should not restart when new level starts. Character should have some power to deal with when being surrounded by the fans.
It was really hard to control the character around edges and around groupies. Since that's the core mechanic of your game, it feels really rough.
I ended up getting stuck between some groupies which meant I could no longer play. The movement in general was a bit clunky in my opinion. I really love the concept though and it fits great with the theme. I also thought the music was a bit jarring how it restarts after a delay at the start of each level.
Hi, I can't pass the third one, can't find the way out ^^! Really like the music and cute graphics and pop star concept, although it took me a while realized that road and tree and stuff I can't pass and can. Overall, a cute game ^^
I really like the concept, and it's a fun puzzle game. The autograph idea is cool, although I didn't get that you were actually supposed to sign it for a while. One way to fix the getting stuck issue would be to have smaller groupies, or, perhaps more effectively to remove the collider after you've signed the autograph. Nice game.
Great concept, a refreshing idea. The graphics and sound were simple but they had a bubbly feeling that was nice.
What bugged me the most was getting locked with no way to keep going, even after giving the fans autographs. Having to reload the game to restart or just sit waiting until time had passed was not ideal. An in game menu with a restart button would be a much needed addition.
Overall nice game, great work :)
I really liked the feel of your game, when I realized the lines were the direction the groupies were looking I had a lot of fun avoiding being seen (felt like metal gear solid haha, wish I had a box to put on my head)
The controls were a bit rough, but you made up for it
すごいですね〜!
About as stressful as my own game with all the people roaming about. 😛 I liked that the music had that digital "voice" to it so that I could get a sense of what her music sounds like. Was a bit unfortunate that the music restarts with each level so that I never got to hear very much of it during normal gameplay (but I did stop to listen to it for as long as was possible until I lost!).
Unfortunately I was unable to finish the game because I kept getting stuck between characters and walls and I didn't get the prompt to give them my autograph so that I could escape either. :( Tried many times but I just couldn't do it!
I wasn't completely sure if I was supposed to sign every autograph or if I was just supposed to try and avoid all the fans… Which is it? 😛
Update: just read the above comment and tried MGS'ing my way through the levels! That worked a lot better. Now I feel silly for not realising this myself. Of course the next issue was being fast enough, haha. Unfortunately I kept getting stuck. I guess it would've been nice if the fans' collision was turned off after they'd had their autographs signed.
Funny game. I like the kyaaaas and the little faces! And I'll admit: I did not sign an IRL paper. c;
General ======= Not entirely sure how to put this, but the lock-in that is actually sort of intentional as a penalty for getting noticed by to many groupies. I do off course agree that getting locked in for up to a whole minute is way to harsh (especially since there is no reload level button). My only reason for not fixing this post jam is that I could not think of a fix small enough to be acceptable as a during-voting-patch (the missing reload button has no excuse though).
Here are some other features that did not make it: - Dodging - Cover actually providing cover (breaking line of tight for groupies) - 4 directional sprites - Groupies with patrol routes - Groupies following each other
Specific ========
@saramartins In retrospect, I should just have added a reload level button as a post-jam "bug fix".
@chronosv2 A mate of mine jumped in and wiped together some stuff before actually playing anything. My spouse made the Victory and Game Over tunes. So perhaps not a "team project", but definitely original music.
@muffty I'm a bit curious to what your home looks like if you have trouble finding a bit of paper ;) But, yes, you don't _really_ need the paper. Originally this was just a way of compensating for an additional minigame that never got implemented.
@fangzhangmnm & @schu The original track is actually a lot longer than the minute you are able to hear it. The only reason for restart has to do with how background music is implemented, since it's loaded in the scene (Godot lingo for level) and not as an auto load (Godot lingo the known universe).
@wizebin & @ava-skog Reading your comments after all the others made me realize something. Perhaps it is not clear enouth that this is indeed a stealth game. The player is supposed to sneak past groupies, not just try to out run them. This could definitely be communicated better. And yes, an expanded version of this game should definitely have a cardboard box.
