Cool will take a look in a bit
Looks and feels pretty smooth but i do have some feddback to give you. The camera to me was the biggest downside as it was constantly turning to the rotation of the player which meant i had to continually drag my mouse to see. Also i was running away from the demons only to realize that when i stopped they didnt kill me? Good game overall, it definetely lacks polish but thats because of the limited amount of time. I believe its worth working on it a little more and making a post-jam version. Last bit of advice is dont get judged in humor since your game doesnt have any (unless i missed anything).
Could use some polishing maybe if you had more time. But very good job.
come check out my game if you like https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/virus-detected
Really cool idea, but the execution just isn't great. Moving feels weird, aiming is hard, and minimal animations make it difficult to tell what's going on.
@stratoskakalis hi thanks for the feed back. Yeah its definitely lacking pollish and there's a lot needs tweaking. like the demons don't get close enough on their own to do damage. Was fine before I added character meshes but now the collisions are smaller. With the camera, originally wanted a fixed view like a top-down shooter but based on some feedback I made it track behind and felt it was more interesting and dynamic. Again I can tweak it so if you change the view it'll wait some time before switching to follow mode. I'll work on these issues and upload a post jam version soon
@avitt cool I'm looking forward to playing the post-jam one when it comes out ;)
Interesting concept, however the controls were a little bit difficult, with the constant turning. Aiming is also hard.
I didn't feel a real danger as I started to pursue the demons and they kept backing running away from me, I just taunted them all over the map.
But given the time you had I think it was a good end result that will definitely benefit from the time you can put on improvements :)
Nice game my dude! As more people here said, it lacks polish, but I guess thats inevitable for a game thats made in a few days. At first I killed people, but at one point I just kept running to survive, while there were more and more enemies :P A great entry!
I don't have much to say other than the jump animation is EPIC. You could have made a rad vaporwave game with these plastic men models!
saramartins pretty much summed up my thoughts excactly. Fun game but needs some polish. I'll definately try the post jam version.
Hi! The good point is that your jump animation is rly cool :) The needs improvement point, maybe some balancing, the controls aren't rly intuitive (I mean the aim). The scenario is an important part, I suggest you to find some 3D artist that can help you to start.
But the most important thing is that you have participated, finished a game and probably your next game will be even better. I liked it. Good job. :)
Camera feels weird, other than that - nice little shooter game.
@explorer try the post jam, made some improvements to the camera system and added an aiming ability with right click.
Nice job on the animations on the player and the baddies. I played the Post-Jam version, so I think a lot of the complaints people had above were resolved.
A few things I think I could see as points of improvement: - Add a timer. If one of the goals is survival, maybe a timer could help identify how long you've survived, otherwise there's no incentive to stay alive long. - Add walls around the edges so that you can't fall off. I got cornered once at low health and fell and there's no reset for falling off the world map. - Turn down the specularity on the material for the ground - it's very shiny, and grass isn't usually that shiny :P
Otherwise, nice job! For doing something during the Jam, this is a lot of work to get done - so I'm pretty impressed!
Feel free to check out our game, as we too are struggling to get the necessary votes in this last day.
Hey, I just tested both versions and I liked the animations and graphics, I just thing that if the character look and shoot at the same direction that the mouse is pointing the game would feel better.
Anyway good job.
Haha good job! I think there should be some timeout for the jump animation, and I'm not sure what's with the camera but it seems like it controls from a weird angle/location. I just tried to stay alive hahaha =)
Good job on completing a playable game!
Most of the feedback I was going to give has already been addressed on the Post Jam version.
The "aim mode" works well, and I think it would be nice on a survivor horror game. You would just need to make the game darker and put some spooky music on the background with the "aim mode" being the default.
Another way would be to leave the top view, but make the character shoot always to the front of the screen, so the player can aim with the mouse while moving away from the demons. I think this would be best for an action game.
Anyway, good job on the limited timeframe! :D
An interesting project. Sometimes controls seem weird, but I assume that with more time you could do something fully playable. I had fun playing ++
