LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Chicken farm by Hadik 2022-10-08T22:17:53Z

Really cute, really had fun with it! I was wondering if there's any kind of end game - I pretty much was staying at a stable point the whole time and just kind of stopped after awhile. I also found that even when I had 50+ chickens the 2 food and water feeders I bought at the beginning were enough to sustain them, so I was never worried about underfeeding or needing a well. I agree being able to buy things to harvest more eggs would be great. With a little polish you could release this, great job!

Bunny is going places by kuro 2022-10-08T22:37:31Z

Aw cute, love the art and music, really impressive work for compo!

ShortDay Survive by rayriver 2022-10-07T04:14:02Z

Pretty fun! I somehow managed to get knocked out of the arena into the black void, and could pretty much just sit there and shoot fireballs and mostly not die. Was a little more challenging when I didn't do that. Nice job!

Office, Time loop and The End of the World by zimennik 2022-10-08T06:30:29Z

Very cute, as they said, a silly Outer Wilds. I wish your character didn't side so much because I often missed my target which cost me time. I also struggled to fix the phone because it wasn't quite obvious to where to use the duct tape. I did finish it, it was cute, nice job!

Impending Doom of a Thousand Kitties by RalfZ 2022-10-07T04:31:09Z

Ahhhh so cute! Had fun with this, I wish it was easier to switch between the food and hand (right click to grab the kitty maybe?) The art and sound and everything worked well together and it's a fun little game loop, great job!

Tenjutsu by deepnight 2022-10-06T05:34:48Z

Wow this is a lot of fun, though difficult (in a good way). Addictive gameplay and really great polish. Awesome job!

Ten Second First Dates by Rose 2022-10-06T17:51:23Z

Really enjoyed this! It was really clever to distill the conversation to little symbols you need to match, it really captures the feel of dating and choosing what to say! Art, music, overall presentation was really nice and exceptionally polished. Great job!

Purfect Thyming by gswong 2022-10-05T06:18:37Z

Super cute, loved the art and music, and the mechanic of using the music for timing! I was also able to figure out how to collect from your in-game descriptions so props for that. Biggest thing is I wish there was a goal (like make 10 potions by a certain time). But I know how stuff like that gets cut when jamming. Great job!

Shutter Chaos by ColeSlaughter 2022-10-05T06:38:23Z

Love it! The muppet looking characters were so fun and the class quotes with my pictures at the end were hilarious! Great jam game!

Eleventh Second by Jeremy Ryan 2022-10-10T00:35:38Z

Very nice, this felt really good to play, the art and music feel are all very polished. Really enjoyed that you chose a more "chill" feel so the game is almost "zen" like. Not beat it yet lol but I get a little further each time. Really enjoyable game!

Assault on Hartblood Hotel by kiririn51 2022-10-05T07:53:21Z

Wow, old school RPG, I LOVE this! Aesthetics were good. The music in particular was Absolutely FANTASTIC.

I was able to figure out the battle mechanics easy enough, and the curse mechanic was a pretty great twist that changed how I'd typically play (gotta kill things fast!), though I never felt like I was strongly affected or in danger. Also the game did get a bit long and grindy, the map was probably a little big for the amount of content that was there,

I really liked the dialog, I did wish I had a little better sense of the actual plot, but I enjoyed the vibe and banter nonetheless.

Overall really impressive for 72 hours, Jam games are never perfectly balanced and I think all these things could be polished up and lead to a really fun final product. Great job!

Bleeding vampire by Adnihilis 2022-10-05T04:59:04Z

Nice idea for the theme! I wish there was more feedback - in particular a health bar - so I knew how I was doing and if I should go fight things or keep going. The time I beat it I did so by running through to the end. I think a smaller map with more distinct levels might have been better to navigate. Good work

Bleeding vampire by Adnihilis 2022-10-05T18:25:35Z

@sticmac I see! Yup it's there on itch, so disregard that comment. It looks like maybe the game isn't scaling right in the LD embed and your health bar is scrolled off the screen. Are you working in Unity? Getting screen sizing stuff is really annoying. You can check your game in the preview window by setting the size to match the embed size and seeing how it looks.

Dark Points by anstabo 2022-10-07T09:20:11Z

This is SO SO good, one of my favorites so far. Beautiful and creepy. I unfortunately didn't have time finish it (you say 15-30, but it's more like an hour or more if you get stuck finding stuff!), I wish you had a save feature, this game is long enough to warrant one.

I'm also super curious to know the technical setup behind the scanning effect shader. How did you keep that performant? (even in WebGL it played decently well!)

Hopefully I'll get back to it again and finish it, but fantastic job.

Blink by JUSTCAMH 2022-10-06T07:30:16Z

Overall I love the game! Really enjoy these cryptic exploration games and the mood, art and music were fantastic. I'd love a full length game that feels like this.

With the QR codes, part of me loves the innovation and the feeling of discovery, but part of me feels they were at odds with the blink timer mechanic. I was hesitant to scan codes because it takes awhile and I didn't know how long I would have. This seems like it'd work better in a game that was more relaxed.

My other thing was the platforming, I'm admittingly not great but I got extremely stuck in room -1-B (where you have to blink jump up those platforms) and gave up. I want to play more but I don't know if I can get past this!

I'll give it another try at some point, or watch a playthrough if I can't get gud. Awesome job guys!

Helltender by otasun 2022-10-05T07:17:10Z

Really fun! It's probably a little complex for how quick you gotta be, (or maybe I'm just bad), but I really enjoyed the mechanic. Art, music and overall aesthetic were also great. Overall great job!

Fleeting Seasons by Bytomancer 2022-10-06T03:34:12Z

Neat idea, but not sure if I'm doing it right - were the trees supposed to disappear when I "destroyed" them? It didn't seem like the button was doing anything.

CONJR Rapid Text-to-Image by walaber 2022-10-06T03:45:43Z

This is ridiculous and I can't stop playing it. Awesome job.

Decem Secundis by JPiggs 2022-10-05T04:43:41Z

Some enjoyable stuff here, I liked the character design and I liked alternating between platforming to grab gear and surviving the wave, and I played for several waves. It did seem like a lot of waves I could easily just stay in a corner and avoid the snakes, so I agree about increasing difficulty. The controls weren't the most responsive, but I'm on a laptop trackpad so might be me. Cool idea though, nice job!

The Curse of Household Chaos by LightBoat 2022-10-06T02:53:41Z

This game is a little too me irl haha. Really cute and nicely polished game. I liked the difficulty curve. It did feel a little tedious to run back and forth to the shed, though I know that's part of the difficulty balance. Maybe if you could drop the tool instead of it automatically going back? Dude needs to invest in a toolbelt lol. Overall Great job!

DecaDare by Caladrius 2022-10-05T04:19:05Z

Haha really had fun with this! Enjoyed all the little game, the absurd presentation was great! If I had a critique I'd prefer it if it didn't repeat a game in a session if I beat it (had one round where I did the punching game four times!) because I wanted to see all your games! Other than that great job, congrats!

Cat.exe by Alpha Wolf Studios 2022-10-06T18:01:06Z

Really enjoyed the graphics, sound and overall aesthetic. I had trouble seeing the pits to jump over - they blended in with the dark road on my computer - so I didn't know why I was dying. I also kinda wish I was moving faster but the game was already a bit tricky to control. Nice job!

Terminal Velocity by mhorth 2022-10-05T05:57:01Z

Had fun! Lots of nice polish here, really digging all the aesthetic touches and the leaderboard! One thing is it would've been nice if instead of the game slowing you down so much when you hit a wall it just knocked you back a little bit. The game got significantly less fun when I was slow, and since I'm bad at action games I hit the walls a lot. Great job!

This Date Blows! by crow_seeds 2022-10-05T05:28:41Z

Haha love the concept, and the way it was introduced with the intro! Funny dialog, though I think audio levels may need a bit more work (I know that's part of the challenge). Overall really creative game!

Also your date looks familiar, think I tried to someone like her in another game, it didn't go very well then either lol...

Toot-al Darkness by woahitsjeff 2022-10-06T02:42:51Z

Played the original for the sake of rating. I giggled. Really enjoy this concept. You've done a good job of taking feedback and making updates, that's how good games get made!

I did seem to have an issue where I couldn't find the skull items (I found plenty of batteries) not sure if I was being dumb or if there was an issue. I got an error that my graphics driver has an issue with d3d12, not sure if that's somehow related.

Overall, nice job.

Speed Dating for Misfits by itsBoats 2022-10-06T17:45:16Z

Cute funny game! I did find with only 10 seconds it was a bit hard to read and make choices in time, and I'd randomly click things to see what happened. They might should be fewer and/or shorter. The random blackjack game was funny. Great job!

Birdwatching by Iguanana 2022-10-07T04:20:38Z

Cute, I learned some bird stuff. I admit to not being a big fan of the music, it was fairly repetitive, and I would've loved something more zen. Maybe hearing the bird calls when you get an answer right would be cool too. Nice job.

Within by Waysneighborgo2 2022-10-05T05:08:59Z

Really like the idea - unfortunately the controls were a bit frustrating, and I never could make it very far. I think if I had more control of what direction I'd pop out and where I was landing this could be a really fun little platformer!

Is this your Order? by martinboue 2022-10-05T06:54:11Z

Neat idea for a game, aesthetically it's really cute. I read the tutorial and understood what to do with finding people, got to work meeting and memorizing them, but I had no idea where the restaurants were - it might be a lot easier if there was only one restaurant and you only needed to remember the characters, and not both. Also - the game was too big for my laptop screen, I couldn't see the whole thing at once, no full-screen button, so I didn't see the orders coming in at all at first. That said I think there's something neat here and with a little polish it could be really great! Good job!

Is this your Order? by martinboue 2022-10-06T06:48:22Z

@martinboue I definitely think that could help! The graphics are a big improvement and associating one meal per restaurant makes sense. You might need to increase the time a bit in the beginning to notice the restaurants and people too. Playtest and see! And Chef Michel sounds fancy for takeaway, maybe salad or seafood or gourmet sandwiches. Or something French? ...Now I'm hungry.

Web-Cleaner by Heming Ruan 2022-10-05T07:10:40Z

Really liked the concept, great art and music. It wasn't clear to me if I was dying because I wasn't resting or I was getting the wrong answer. Also purchasing things didn't seem to work? Or maybe I was looking at the wrong thing? Either way, had fun, great job.

Machine! by KITmani 2022-10-05T05:02:09Z

Got a 404 error on the WebGL Version!

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-04T18:00:45Z

Ahh, thanks @adnihilis and @jpiggs for finding that bug! Not sure if this counts as "game breaking" enough to fix for the jam, but I will be working on a Post Jam version and for sure fix it there. And thanks for the compliments on the graphics! I had fun doing them :)

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-05T03:44:36Z

Thanks @kitkii! Glad you liked it, I absolutely agree on more puzzles, that was the original plan, but y'know, time. I plan on doing all those things (and maybe more) in a post jam release, so stay tuned!

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-05T06:22:47Z

Ha @coleslaughter you caught it, once I came up with the idea referencing Chrono Trigger was the obvious thing, and the character aesthetic is based on that! Thanks for the nice words!

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-05T06:25:49Z

@fireslash Ah good catch. Oh, maybe the teleport issue is a feature, like you and the npc let out a horrific scream as you fuse together... hee.

Hopefully I can expand the idea to give you more to do in each time period so you have less waiting - with possibly giving you some more control of when you shift at some point. Thanks for the comments!

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-05T18:19:47Z

@krishna-kamarga Thanks! I actually want to do a post mortem to talk about the systems I built, but I used Ink (https://www.inklestudios.com/ink/) to do dialog. I customized the integration which made it easy to add and change dialog as the game progressed, or to do dialog for the same character in different time periods.

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-06T03:08:50Z

@aristurtle thanks for the compliments! Sorry you hit those bugs! The collision bug is fixed on the itch page now, unfortunately I haven't been able to repro your other issue - it should be fine to walk around and talk to others first, and I've not been able to bug it out doing so. If I figure it out I'll let you know, thanks!

@mhorth thanks! The animation is mostly just scale and positional changes (scaling up y, then moving y position up while scaling y back down, then also scaling x down to 0 to make the sprite disappear). Glad you liked it!

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-06T05:51:00Z

@aristurtle I found and fixed the bug you mentioned where the communicator wasn't working in the beginning. It was a weird bug where if you spoke to the store clerk before pressing q it would never trigger and break the game. Thanks for finding it!

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-08T22:20:54Z

@kiririn51 Thanks! With the pixel size I assume you mean mostly the UI (dialog boxes and the sidebar), because yeah I didn't get a chance to get those sized right. The sprites and backgrounds should be consistent though.

@maaack Thanks! Yes as mentioned the bug should be fixed on the latest update, let me know if you see otherwise!

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-16T00:15:04Z

@tattomoosa Uh oh! I hadn't heard of anything like that happening, do you mind describing what happened? How far in the game did you make it? Were you able to advance the text boxes? Did you press Q to talk to the tech?

Wanderhythm by zhelding 2022-10-06T06:04:49Z

Had fun playing this, seems like writing music with 10 second sections would be tricky because how that'd be a weird time signature or bpm, but this flowed really naturally! Really impressed how all the sections sounded together! I wish there was an end screen, maybe getting a grade based on my score or something, and a button to replay, which would make it feel more finished. But still, great job, you should be proud!

Every Ten Seconds Counts by Maaack 2022-10-05T04:49:09Z

I enjoyed this! So cool to see some interactive fiction with an "AI" element! Took a couple tries but I did make it out! If you continue on it I'd love to see some atmospheric art and sound. I also had trouble picturing the layout of things in my head, so a map or something would be nice. Great job!

Dragon Slayer Ultra by retrosaurdev 2022-10-06T07:45:05Z

Man at first I thought this was just a troll game and almost didn't play further, glad I explored further left! This definitely has that ragey quality of "I want to be the guy"-esque games, but was still fun, great job!
