LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Rightful by jirrev 2022-10-08T17:38:29Z

Nice tower defense game! I liked the art style and a lot of the enemy designs.

I think there's some balancing that could still be done to improve the challenge of it. Even with very little information about the damage of towers or the rate of fire, it was pretty easy to maximize the economy and the damage to incoming units. My first game froze when I placed my 2nd watch tower. On my 2nd game, I placed a few more, but one of them sank into the water when it was trying to generate more terrain? Also, the world I got the 2nd time had a path at least 2x longer than my 1st playthrough, which is a pretty significant difference.

A solid game jam submission. I enjoyed it for a good couple of minutes. Good work!

Tenjutsu by deepnight 2022-10-06T23:27:12Z

Fun game! Nice art, pretty good controls and audio. The level with the two chainsaw guys got frustratingly hard for me. I was maybe getting a rhythm down for it, and then I hit Ctrl and R at the same time on accident, and lost all my progress. It was enjoyable up until then.

Really good submission!

Tried playing on itch.io with firefox browser. After pressing play from the main menu, I hear an alarm sound and some boot-up noises, but the screen goes black, and stays that way. Tried twice with the same result.

Blind Jump by TsFreddie 2022-10-07T01:27:45Z

Great work! The music and art are really nice. Also, the amount of puzzles and content you managed to make for the jam is impressive. I didn't make it to the end as I eventually got a bit fatigued in the push button levels, but it was decently fun until then. I think getting to interrupt the playback kind of nerfs the whole challenge, but it'd be hard to beat the current puzzles without it. Overall, I liked the idea and execution of the concept. Good job!

Starshock! by Coda Highland 2022-10-04T03:47:55Z

Nice concept. I did like the projection of where the danger zone will be. Although, the accuracy of it seemed to drop off a lot with distance from the asteroid.

As others mentioned, the difficulty is very steep and the mouse controls don't feel right. I barely made it 30 seconds after 4 games, as the enemies are so numerous. I can't enjoy the element of the game built for the theme because I'm getting hit by missiles or ships first.

Definitely some balancing needed, but this could be something pretty cool.

Pancake Simulator by alec 2022-10-08T05:20:43Z

This was a nice little game. The graphics were cute, as were the sfx and music, which together set a good mood.

The controls at times got in the way of me fully enjoying the relaxing element. They didn't respond the way I expected, and I still wasn't sure what I was doing wrong after a couple of tries. I also got a pancake in a weird spot where I couldn't interact with it anymore, so I had to start a new one. Overall, kind of minor, but I'd enjoy a version where some of these issues are smoothed out.

Overall, I enjoyed trying to make the perfect pancake. Thanks for this submission!

10 seconds order by shemoKam 2022-10-04T17:05:06Z

My first request was to make an iced latte and forgot what was in a latte, so I couldn't understand why the person wouldn't take the order. Since that was the first order, I thought the game was just broken. This needs a to show the player feedback of what's already in the cup, and what the recipe requires. Once I figured it out, I did about 4 more orders and felt I got the idea. Nice job submitting to the jam.

Crazy Frenzy by cavejohnson332 2022-10-06T03:49:35Z

Nice game! The graphics were nice, it had some personality and humor to it, plus the controls felt good.

The RNG is okay, but I think having a limit to prevent the same weapon from showing up twice in a row would help. Using the hammer also seemed like a death trap, so I just started running away when I got it and waited for the next weapon. Kiting the enemies around until I get a hand grenade or a catzooka seems like the winning strategy, until I died by my own grenade. It was worth it.

Decently fun, and I like being forced to use different weapons. Good work!

Boss Swap by Wilko 2022-10-04T19:50:03Z

This was pretty fun! The controls felt pretty smooth and worked close to how I expected for the style of game. Didn't beat normal mode as the "charging" boss was hard for me to dodge. There was a small audio bug when I died, the opponent charging sound kept playing on loop. Other than that, it was a neat concept and executed pretty well.

Nice submission!

Frozen Forest by seanjordan 2022-10-05T03:56:39Z

Nice art style and gameplay idea. It was simple and effective. It took me a while to get the hang of what I needed to do, so I died often at first, and needing to reload the page was annoying.

Some more feedback for the player would go a long way. I did notice there was a puff of smoke when a log would run out in the fire, so that was helpful. However, having a better sense when a fire is about to run out for good from a distance would be nice. It was also not clear at first that I needed 4 logs to build the campfire, so F was "not working" for a while. Collecting the logs was somehow more difficult than I felt it should be, too.

I did eventually make it to the end, which felt like it was just the right amount of distance. Good job on your submission!

Colibri by andy593 2022-10-05T02:37:31Z

Nice intro! As other mentioned, the movement was slow, and there were things that were not intuitive about the visuals, like what was an obstacle and what was going to hurt the bird. I did beat it, but I was hoping for more of a finale given how long it took, and the quality of the intro. The art and music was pleasant throughout. Good work to the team!

10 Seconds Arcanoid by min4uk 2022-10-06T03:08:39Z

Nice game. Similar to other players on web, the game lacked a score board or a lose condition. Also balls got stuck in corners. I agree with others that having the balls collide is an interesting addition, but it leads to weird cases (like really slow or stationary balls) that don't work well with the type of game. I think the most fun moment for me was figuring out how fast I could get a ball to fly by hitting it with the side of the pen.

Sasha Jump by Amythyst 2022-10-08T21:23:26Z

The art of this game is great! It's impressive for one-person to have made all of this. The puzzle and gameplay was well designed around the theme, too. I did run into a few issues while playing, one that required me to restart to beam up, but it looks like you've put out fixes.

Great jam submission!

Dice Caster by mauvegrover 2022-10-04T03:33:29Z

Neat concept. There's something to rolling die and matching sigils/symbols that I find fun. Dragging the die felt like they weighed a metric ton, though. The play area also felt very constricted. A lot of screen space wasn't interactable and was devoted to showing enemies. Their position or proximity didn't seem to matter, though.

As others mentioned, the description was helpful. Nice submission!

Tattooz by Juels 2022-10-03T16:19:52Z

This was fun! I was expecting a lot of "try to do a thing in 10 seconds" type games, but I enjoyed this take on it. The art is cute. Pieces are fun to trace (though some more than others), and overall the difficulty and enjoyment balanced itself out over several drawings. I liked getting to see all of my drawings in the end, too. Nice touch!

Thank you @monarkia, @enjl, @42xiao, @chartle, @amythyst, @ludovicapiro, @min4uk, @darkmax14, @puyo, @defrag, @sanemsky, @kler, @rtdmfn, @boxedmeatrevolution, @lachlan-james, @notan-lemon, @coda-highland, and @dreamerflow (I hope I got everyone)! I appreciate all the feedback and agree with all of it. I was working on an update, but ended up not making it in time for this jam, as I ended up joining another one . I will probably keep pursuing it in the future, though. Thanks again!

Cthulhu's Piano Panic by ThomasTheGameEngine 2022-10-05T03:37:29Z

Enjoyed the music, though only for a while. It would have been nice if it changed as you killed the musicians and new ones came in to replace them. The art was and controls were pretty good, too.

The shooting of the enemies did not feel satisfying to me. The flash that they took damage was nice, but it kind of felt like I was shooting rubber bullets. I ran into some bugs with certain enemies looking like they were taking damage, but never dying. Sometimes they would be sideways or upside down (is that intentional)?

That was fun. Nice submission.

Loop Arena by LorandusBianchi 2022-10-06T02:53:22Z

Nice game! It had some fun to it, plus the graphics and sounds are cute, too (good work with the mouth noises).

Played the web version on ldjam and I'm not sure it matches with the screenshots. I don't see a health bar, and it doesn't seem like I can die, no matter how much I let the slimes touch me. Not sure if that's a bug or an intentional change of game design. Also, I'd prefer if holding the mouse kept firing the gun, rather than having to click every time.

Good work on this!
