I really like the idea and the kenny assets fit perfect. But i have no clue how to get the order and how to deliver.
Can you add how to play to the description page ?
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD51 → Is this your Order?

Hello, thank you for your feedback :) we already have noticed that it is not easy for new players to understand the different elements. we added a tutorial on itch.io to explain how to play. To retrieve an order you have to go near a restaurant (buildings with the red/white and green/white banner) and press space, if an order is available it gives it to you. Once the order is taken, you have to bring it to the corresponding person and press space.

Hi @vein, thank you for your feedback! Indeed, we would have liked to integrate the name of the restaurants in the sprites to more easily identify what is what. Is this what you would have liked? Right now, when a restaurant has no orders for you and you press space, it tells you its name. Example: "Big Donald: No orders for you."
Really nice looking game and smooth controlls but I couldn't understand what should I do.
This is a cool game and really hard, the core-idea is a very good fit for the theme and fun, but making the restaurant names clearer from the sprites would help a lot, maybe also make the human sprites a bit more distinctive. I got terrified when it said I needed to get the order to the guy with white shirt and brown hair
Nice game, have a little trouble remembering the names so usually I need to visit each person to find it )
The game looks really good. It would be handy to have a minimap though!
Thanks @capitals ! I understand that it's hard to find your way around and remember where the NPCs are. But I think that's part of the game and why it is difficult. That's what we wanted. The goal was for the player to rack their brains trying to remember where the NPCs are.
Hi @abdullah-firat. If you want to learn more about the game, I invite you to check the 6-image tutorial if you haven't already done so.
Long story short, you receive messages from restaurants (Big Donald, KCF, ...) telling you that they have an order for you. You then have to go to the restaurant in question (identifiable with a mocked-up front) and press space to get the order. The restaurant should give you a clue as to who to deliver to. You have to find that person and press space to give them their order. That's it!
Neat idea for a game, aesthetically it's really cute. I read the tutorial and understood what to do with finding people, got to work meeting and memorizing them, but I had no idea where the restaurants were - it might be a lot easier if there was only one restaurant and you only needed to remember the characters, and not both. Also - the game was too big for my laptop screen, I couldn't see the whole thing at once, no full-screen button, so I didn't see the orders coming in at all at first. That said I think there's something neat here and with a little polish it could be really great! Good job!
As the others have also said, for me it was also unclear where to get the food let alone remember who was who. Maybe it could have worked better in a smaller scale with a few persons and one restaurant. Then maybe on later levels add more persons once the player is familar with the mechanics and the first 3 or so characters.
This is a really cool idea and the art fits great, only thing is my memory is not great but it was fun!
The map was cool and fun to explore, but some of the collision boxes were a bit weird/unnecessary and this resulted in me losing a lot of time while trying to navigate around
Very hectic and tough game but it's sun to run around looking for orders! Nice job!
I liked being a courier. The graphics are great for a game made with jam. Too bad there is no music. It's cool that you made a completely small piece of the city, with bike paths and parks. This is where the difficulty lies - there is not enough minimap with the designation of restaurants. I also liked to look for clients not by names, but by signs. Cool idea.
Pretty game that fits the theme nicely. It would be great if all the places got some signs on them so you would know which is which without having to rely on color, which is far from obvious.
I screamed, I cried, and I failed to deliver almost everyone's food.
Pretty fun! The art style is really nice - I loved going around the town. The restaurant name spoofs were funny too. Memorizing the villager locations and names was one thing, but it was a little difficult to know which restaurants were which. I think it'd also be nice to have a smaller display (like maybe a phone screen or something) in the screen corner to help keep track of the orders that popped up previously. Thanks for uploading!
Hi everyone, @vein, @danielkozlov, @adriangray, @capitals, @amythyst, @spacecadet, @innocuousuk, @redneb, @flying-dog-fish, @organicpencil, @fuzzybut,
As several people have made the same remarks, I take the liberty of answering everyone in one message.
We notice that many of you have difficulties to memorize the location of the restaurants, it's a misconception from us. We didn't realize how difficult it was to locate the different restaurants. To address this issue, I'm currently working (slowly) on integrating the restaurants names in the sprites. Here is a quick look on the work in progress. Hope you like it.

Do you think it would help? We wish to continue having multiple restaurants on the same map. But, we will add indications at the beginning of the game like "Explore the city and find the 5 restaurants". Also, we will also associate one type of meal per restaurant, Big Donald = burger, KCF = fried chicken, Chuchichop = sushi and Gromino's = pizza. I don't know yet about Chef Michel's meal, any suggestions?
Thanks everyone for your feedback, we are reading everyone comments and taking notes for future updates! Please note, the features I mentioned will note be included in the Ludum Dare 51 version because it's note bug fixes but new content.
Hi @redneb, for information there is music in the background but the volume is very low. You can increase the volume of your browser if you want to listen to it.
Hi @justking144, could you tell me more about which collisions you found disturbing please? Thanks!
@martinboue I definitely think that could help! The graphics are a big improvement and associating one meal per restaurant makes sense. You might need to increase the time a bit in the beginning to notice the restaurants and people too. Playtest and see! And Chef Michel sounds fancy for takeaway, maybe salad or seafood or gourmet sandwiches. Or something French? ...Now I'm hungry.
@martinboue That signage looks great! Just what the game needed imo
@martinboue This is great!
@martinboue that will be much more helpful for sure 👏
@amythyst Chef Michel is a reference to Chef Michel Dumas: https://www.youtube.com/c/ChefMichelDumas It's a private joke between @martinboue and me ;)
Interesting concepth, but I found it very hard to find and memorize all the restaurants _and_ all the people in the little city. I think you could have given better directions at least to the restaurants.
There was a lot going on! Very hard to remember where everyone was, and especially hard to find people based on the colour of their clothing. The city was nicely designed though, it was nice to see what was in it. Nice entry!
Funky music but the volume is too low! Besides, it was hard to locate the restaurants and the customers, as already pointed out by others. Finally the collisions for the isometric graphics is not done correctly, see link: https://medium.com/@michaelwesthadley/modular-game-worlds-in-phaser-3-tilemaps-1-958fc7e6bbd6
Thanks for you feedback @magnus-lindh. You are right, the collision with the isometric view is not ideal. We had planned to be able to go behind a building or a lamp post, but we kept it simple and focused on the gameplay. This problem should be fixed in a future version when the game jam is over.
Thank you for you feedback @weine and @natpat. As you may have seen from the previous comments, we plan to integrate the names of the restaurants on the buildings. Here is a preview of the new map that will arrive after the game jam.

We are also thinking with @thewrath on how to reduce the pressure and not get overwhemed by the new orders coming from restaurants.
Nice little world you got there ! And good game mechanics matching the theme !
Great mechanics !! I had a harsh time to recognize restaurant but when I did it, it was great. Nice job!
