Buenardium

alexzoin 2022-10-04 00:34

Super fun! I really liked the theming. Not sure how you got postprocessing to work in webGL, I tried for way too long haha.

The player controller was a little shakey and floaty, but fun overall!

federico-delgado 2022-10-04 00:45

@alexzoin Hi! Thank you very much. We did our best with the controller, it was one of the most difficult parts for us. I hope we can do a little update to fix it once the jam is finished!

crimoudin 2022-10-04 01:03

Art was cool. The menu was interesting too. A little laggy for webGL though. Made it tough to play.

thomas-yanuziello 2022-10-04 01:05

Awesome menu system.

zhennaperks 2022-10-04 01:07

Love the visuals, although I died a lot and hearing the sad meows really got to me after a bit. Fun to play, I do wish it was a little easier to tell if I was too close to an obstacle and how long my sprint lasts.

Thanks for sharing!

krasimir-balchev 2022-10-04 01:08

Loved the menu! The platforming was fun as well but got stuck on edges quite often and as someone already mentioned, it did feel floaty, but the aesthetic is excellent

cosmonautical 2022-10-04 01:08

The OS portion of the game was my favourite, I thought it was really strong. Super cool to see those graphics in the browser The platforming could be tightened up a little bit though

alec 2022-10-04 01:10

Love the windows 95 aesthetic! The cat runners movement was very floaty, making it hard to do the jumps. Also it seemed like sometime a jump wouldn't register when I thought it would. I like that you guys included a leaderboard.

don-juan-javier 2022-10-04 01:40

Bringin back the 90s vibes! I love it. Pumpin music, visuals were really well done. Controls could use some polishing, specifically giving the player a better indication grounded state.

owinmowe 2022-10-04 02:10

TY all vm for the love and feedback!

yogurtthehorse 2022-10-04 02:20

Nice intro screen with retro vibes, hehe

Good game with amazing sound, though timer feels like "eh, we need to make 10 seconds game" :(

grif-in 2022-10-04 03:05

Love the retro vibes. The win95 desktop interface was cool. The movement in 3d was a bit sluggish. Cool concept, could be really fun with really fast/snappy controls.

lautilaj 2022-10-04 04:24

Muy buen juego!!! La musica esta de 10

chitoyuu 2022-10-04 08:28

Love the *AESTHETICS* and the very catchy music. The collision detection did feel a little bit flaky when it comes to those moving platforms. Often do I find myself stuck mid-air between them and the floor, unable to jump or move anywhere. Overall it still feels very polished though. Great job! It's also super cool that you released your sources, even if you didn't have to for the jam. Kudos for that!

graylure 2022-10-04 10:42

Visually, you guys captured the vaporwave aesthetic so well! I LOVE the menu, such a smart interactive way to start the game. The webGL version is hard to play due to the lag but overall very cute and ~ a e s t h e t i c ~

steamdr4gon 2022-10-04 11:22

The aesthetics and music are excellent. The platforming was a little finicky at times, especially long jumps, but doable. Overall very nice game.

shizuka 2022-10-04 11:35

beautiful game, great aesthetics, levels have cool challenges but the jumping and the collider of the platforms need a polish, several jumps i got stuck on the edge on some of the platforms but i like to play anyway, good entry in this ludum dare

dilox 2022-10-04 12:21

Such a nice game!

100th-coin 2022-10-04 14:23

I love the aesthetic! Vaporwave is some real eye candy! The animations look great, and I love the "death fizzle" shader effect! The music *slaps* and it perfectly fits the aesthetic! There's something magnificent with retro synths, and I love the heck out of it.

This game has a huge amount of developers! It must've been tricky managing all of that. Outstanding work!

Some of the jumps seemed really difficult, and I recorded myself playing the game so you can have even more feedback.

federico-delgado 2022-10-04 14:47

@100th-coin Wow! Thank you very much for all your feedback. I'm actually sorry about the dash thing, we didn't have enough time to make a proper tutorial for the players. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

zubi 2022-10-04 15:29

I'm playing a game designed after a pc desktop on my pc with a desktop, woah! What a cool game you guys made! I like the retro style that's presented! Very cool, nicely done. One spesfic feature I especially like is that I can drag the icons to different places, just like a real desktop computer. This small features make it feel all the more real. Good job to everyone who worked on it!! ✪ ω ✪

nicolasjl9 2022-10-04 16:54

Thanks to everyone for the love and the feedback! Hope you guys had as much fun playing as we had doing the game. ❤️❤️

honest-dan 2022-10-04 19:05

Really nice atmosphere and mood. Loved the desktop feel and the way you integrated help and credits into a desktop environment! Nice art and character too

I must admit I almost gave up. The most frustrating issues were the jumping (couldn't jump unless centre of your body was on the platform - seemed a bit unresponsive) and that you'd get stuck on edges of platforms. The spike timer on the platforms that switches spikes from top to bottom seemed too short - ended up jumping and dashing over them instead which felt a bit like I was cheesing it!

I stuck with it, but didn't make your scoreboard!

nyxkn 2022-10-04 22:51

Really good game! I always love these desktop emulations. So much character and atmosphere! The game itself was really pretty. I loved the character animations. Very convincing! The jump felt a bit clunky sometimes. When I'd jump on the normal ground I could chain jumps easily; but for some reason when jumping on the platforms I couldn't jump again right away and felt a bit clunky. One of the platform jumps with the timed spikes was impossible for me because of this reason and I couldn't progress. The visuals are really really good and I loved the music too. Overall very solid entry and with a bit of quality of life improvements it could be very engaging.

yoko-san 2022-10-04 23:17

Nice game! like the artstyle and the gameplay but precise jumping is very hard :-/

kuboxxxxx 2022-10-04 23:21

A very fun and great looking game, I love the Vaporwave aestethics! Music is great makes the whole experience better. The only thing I would improve slightly is jump mechanics cause it's sometimes hard to time them or they are just slightly more difficult, but it was fun to play!

defrag 2022-10-05 02:01

The older computer OS setting was a flavorful touch. The clippy-style tutorial giving me types right when they were relevant was also great. The gameplay itself was a little on the unforgiving side; my tip would be to implement some kind of drop shadow anytime a player ever has to do a jump puzzle. It can be just too hard trying to judge a landing spot when looking from a non-cardinal direction if you don't have that cue. Overall, great project.

BTW, how the heck did you guys manage to coordinate efforts on a team so big? I only worked with one other person and that was tough! Kudos just for gathering so many minds into one idea for a 72-hour game jam!

artofluba 2022-10-05 02:56

The meta concept is really good! Didn't spend too long in kittenwave.exe though (initially) as I was hoping to get some viruses by clicking random old-PC desktop stuff... hehe

sofignedova 2022-10-05 04:26

Damn mood.. It's something. I am very immersed in the game because of the picture and music!

evedoll 2022-10-05 05:56

The aesthetics of this game were done so well. The old OS desktop was already clever, but the vaporwavey/old school Tron VR aesthetic of the computer hardware stages really took it to the next level both vibe & nostalgia wise. And clippy! I loved the clippy tutorial and thought it was really well timed with the stage design. Though in my first play through I did miss a couple of his tips just focused on the stage.

I'm not really good at these sort of games but enjoyed the flow with a lot of the sections after I got used to the floaty jumps. On my first play through I jump dashed over a lot of the red platforms you could land on so when I got to the section when they were moving back and forth it took me awhile to realize I could land on them as I had started thinking red=don't touch and instead thought I was just really messing up the jump-dash timing.

Overall I thought it was a really solid game especially done with such a huge team! I've been on several huge teams in the past and I know how hard it can be to coordinate across so many people especially in a game jam setting where communication can easily break down. So I was really impressed with how polished and cohesive of a game you guys were able to put out!

castitatis 2022-10-05 08:08

The polish of the game is really impressive. I love the asthetics of the game.

fuzzybut 2022-10-06 15:52

Nice job! I'm not sure if it was just my screen or not, but it was a little difficult to tell where the voids were in the track. It also seemed like I kept catching on the platforms a lot. The graphics and colors are impressive!

amythyst 2022-10-06 18:01

Really enjoyed the graphics, sound and overall aesthetic. I had trouble seeing the pits to jump over - they blended in with the dark road on my computer - so I didn't know why I was dying. I also kinda wish I was moving faster but the game was already a bit tricky to control. Nice job!

snappypath 2022-10-07 10:49

It's very cool that with such a big team it was possible to make the game in such a short time. Good Job

apostle 2022-10-07 10:50

Could have used vector2.normalize, to avoid bug with moving faster diaganoly. Still nice one. A lot of work was made!!!

ping78 2022-10-07 22:15

Nice game. I love the menu especialy the start button. The character is really well made. Nice vaporwave asthetics and cool audio. Well done.

mrbamboo 2022-10-09 13:50

Oh wow ! I laught so much when I see the computer crash after putting the program into the trash 🤣

rosymaple 2022-10-10 09:02

Love the game, love the art, I was even able to get in top 10 after messing with it a bit!

Here are a list of a few bugs I ran in to * Sometimes it will buffer dash if you dash in quick succession which feels really bad * It felt like your jump could be eaten by dashing or maybe it wouldn't go off if you had a jump buffered, I'm not sure but it made jumping feel a bit weird * some times you land just right on a platform edge so you don't get your jump back nor can you walk on the platform * sometimes you re spawn 2 or 3 times at the checkpoint after dying, which creates a rubber banding like feeling * If you use the exit button to reset to menu music starts overlapping and buttons become less responsive * It seems like you can try to start the game multiple times if you rapidly click on the actual game icon which causes weirdness

The only other thing I felt was weird is the spikes, the spikes that come through the floor are incredibly unforgiving, I almost quit the first time I had to deal with them after attempting for 4 minutes

Overall though its a great game and it really sucked me in!

federico-delgado 2022-10-11 12:51

Hi @rosymaple thank you for all the feedback! We are aware of some of the bugs you reported (such as spikes being incredibly fast, collisions dragging the player and the jump being a little bit floaty for a platformer)

But you found bugs that we didn't even know that could be reproduced, so thank you so much for the QA :)

sheol 2022-10-15 03:01

OOO I really love the vaporwave-y aesthetics of the game! Also the sounds are nice and the game was somehow relaxing for me haha. The jumping bits were a bit difficult but overall it's a great game! I love the hidden easter egg with the BSOD haha.
