Cool minimal style, shame there's no sound. I checked out the sources too, pretty neat that it's written in straight C and OpenGL with just a few header-only libraries.

Nice little story, the character designs and dialogues were quite charming. Pretty good music too! I was also a bit confused as to what happened at the end but maybe it was meant to be ambiguous?
I liked the exploration and the atmosphere a lot. Nice japanese inspiration with the torii and the vending machines and all that :) I did feel it was a bit grindy and I also couldn't find the last chip needed for the last antenna upgrade anywhere so I couldn't explore the last few areas... But other than that, really solid game! Great job!
Absolutely love the art! I also found the air movement a bit too sluggish but managed to beat it on the second try. Thanks Todd :^)
Nice bait and switch you pulled there lol, I was wondering what I was doing wrong and took a look at the game page on my other screen and them BAM. Also cute art and punchy music.
Nice little meta-game. It really do be like that.
@jasontherand thank you, and sorry that you couldn't find the way down! There's a different sound for when you step on the tile that drops you to the next level, so you have to defeat the boss and then find a tile that sounds different and press spacebar or e when you're on it.
This game is so cool! The interactions between all the different attacks and the physics system make for some great "emergent" moments. I enjoy these kinds of fiddly games where changing one small thing can lead to huge differences in the result so I was sad that it stopped after a few levels, I want a sandbox mode!
Very cool game, I had half an idea to make a management game at the beginning so it's nice to see what somebody else did with the concept! The art is really well made and the sound is really effective in setting the mood. It feels a bit too hard with the random settlement spawns positions so close to each other and so few energy sources and it didn't look like there was a "splitter" transmitter, but maybe it's just that I'm bad at it.
Very cool game, the graphics and music and dialogue set a great mood and make the game seem much bigger than it is. I streamed this to my jam mates and they said it kinda reminds them of early Persona games. The battle system works well, it wasn't particularly difficult but still engaging. I also got stuck for a bit trying to find the next door but that only resulted me in grinding more and having less trouble with the boss so not such a bad thing, I guess? An absolute mood of a game, as the zoomers would say.
Really impressive graphics! The minigames were pretty fun too, great job.
Fun gameplay, very nice presentation. I was a bit confused about how the game worked at first, probably because it's flipped compared to how you normally play Tetris, but after a bit I got the hang of it. It is pretty unforgiving, I didn't quite figure out why I get more shapes to drop in some cases but I always end up with more than I can place after a while and I can't get a very high score! Good job overall though.
Very cute art! I wish the game had a bit of audio feedback for getting hit and hitting enemies or that the hitboxes were a bit more clear, because a lot of the time when I died it didn't really feel like I was doing something wrong. Neat little game though, I had fun with it.
Neat game, I like the music and the cute designs of the characters and the enemies! I played it by myself and it feels like there's some balancing issues, the sword is pretty OP and I could just stand on one side without moving to kill all the enemies, the shield let me stay completely still too and I think it did a little bit of damage, I imagine it's more useful when you're playing in multiplayer. The gun on the other hand was pretty weak and let you get surrounded by enemies easily.
Pretty cool game, the premise feels almost too real lol. I almost thought there was something wrong with the RNG when I noticed that most of the changes were from 32 to 64 bit ints but I realized it does make a lot of sense in the context. I like the aesthetics and the animation when the map changes. I did get stuck in small corridors a few times for several turns in a row, though I guess these things happen when you go full RNG in a game jam :)
Very dumb fun game lol, I love the little sounds the guy at the other end of the conveyor belt makes when you eat a plate.
Very cool art and mood! I made it on my second try, the tutorial is a nice addition but I still bungled the combat thing on my first try because I didn't actually look at it and thought you had to click on the health bar thingy rather than match the daggers. The sound effects are also pretty spoopy, I liked the sound design despite the lack of music. I have to praise the art again though, it looks like a commercial game. Great job!
Interesting game, it feels unfinished unfortunately and the download version was a bit buggy. I tried to play the browser version too but I'm not good enough with russian to read the answer text in the limited time :)
I liked the art a lot and how you tried to breach some heavy themes, the game has a great mood going for it. You should develop this further!
@alexsolonnikovp4 yes I did, the text is in english and it doesn't have the bugs that Juss mentioned from what I've seen, but on my first playthrough I think I solved all of the puzzles but one of them (the one in the first room by the fish bowl, if I recall correctly) would reset after the 10 seconds were over, when I solved it it would show that I got 6 notes but they'd be back to 5 after the 10 seconds and it kept looping, with all the other puzzles locked except that one. After a while I closed the game and retried, on my second playthrough it went to the ending before getting all of the notes.
Thank you for playing and all the nice comments!
@alaah I think not having any time to read the item descriptions is the intended experience, it makes the game that much more stressful and chaotic if you don't exactly know what it is you're selling, and it fits with the lore of you being a friend that the other guys called in just to help out but ended up manning the booth by himself for three days. The chaos is (mostly) intended.
Also @chitoyuu F# is the shit yo, I wish you could use it in Unity too.
Wow, this game's really well made for being a compo entry! A solid game with nice graphics and music. I liked how the tutorial was explained through those NPCs at the beginning. I'm not very good at this kinda game so I'm not gonna try to optimize my times but I had a fun time with it.
VERY well made game, great job! One of my initial ideas was a city builder so it's very cool to see the idea brought to life with a much better polish and implementation than I could've done!
Only complaint is that I couldn't quite figure out a proportion of housing to farms, the planet ended up littered with farms because I couldn't produce enough biomatter and at some points the biomatter meter remained at 0 even though the clones were doing nothing other than producing biomatter.
Progression is also a bit slow, right now I'm at the last planet and I've reached the building limit and it still looks like it's gonna take a while for it to produce enough fuel to finish the game, while I'm just sitting back and listening to the music.
But other than that, amazing artwork and UI and good music. This almost looks and plays like a commercial release.
Nice visual style and cool music. Also really cool that it's made in a custom engine. Had a bit of trouble understanding the gameplay at first and then figuring out that those cylindrical holes in the ground were gears. Gameplay's a bit janky in general but it does its job. By the way, is the title referencing the movie of the same name?
Great job especially for being your first LD game and a compo entry! I had a bit of trouble figuring out where to go to finish, I think I'd killed all the enemies at some point but ran out of blood because I couldn't find the exit, I stumbled upon it on another try but I had left a lot of enemies alive :P Also I don't think I noticed the ammo counter, and I think it'd be nice if you could maybe convert a little bit of blood to ammo when you're out before injecting, when I ran out of bullets most of the time I'd be overwhelmed by the enemies because they'd drain my blood faster than I could get it back knifing them. Solid game though overall, I had a good time!
@chitoyuu I just uploaded a new version that should fix the enemy bullets issue, it's in the HCBT-linux-20231004.zip file
Also there is no sound because we didn't have time to put it in lol
@chitoyuu thank you for giving it another try, glad you liked it! I had to spend a lot of time looking at Touhou's spell cards and I really gained a new appreciation for them.
Yeah I thought about adding music and sounds after, but I don't know if it'd be fair since that'd change the experience a lot. ed also had very little time to make music (he had to leave after the first day) and while they're good tracks we weren't sure whether to put them in because don't really fit the mood of the game...
Thank you for playing!
@steffo I noticed that the changes we made to make the character's and the enemy bullets' hitboxes to make them smaller in the last hour got lost in some git merge conflicts so I think I'll fix it tomorrow. Thanks for reporting this!
And yeah we wanted to put a restart button but we literally ran out of time to add anything by the end (including sounds). It is technically a feature, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to add...
@decentsauce we definitely didn't test spamming the button instead of holding it down. I'll try to fix it but in the meantime we'll add that to the instructions, thanks!
I always like games with an OS-like interface and this was a nice take on the theme! I found the controls were a bit confusing when you're supposed to attack, it took me a few tries to figure out that you have to go all the way to the top and press enter. Still, good job!
