Great entry! very nice art and audio!

retrisma 2022-04-05 15:05

This RTS-style game was well-thought out and simple enough to learn quickly. You use your areas either to defend from invaders or expand your resources. I felt that the map was too large for the screen size, though, and all of the units, towers, and even the planets were too small to keep track of well. One planet even goes off the screen (in the web version) sometimes and you lose track and control of it. Great game, I would just prefer if the map was revamped to be a little easier to navigate and see what's going on.

lambbrainz 2022-04-05 15:11

Navigation is a little odd and I think the game could use a bit more balancing (how much mass you get, how many enemies per wave, etc)

Other than that, the art looks fantastic. The logo and earth design remind me of Kurzgesagt. Looking forward to what you make in your next jam!

pepnou 2022-04-05 15:13

Awesome ! Music and sfx are great, the game is well explained AND fun. Maybe more upgrades in the future ?

Great entry :)

trashbag 2022-04-05 15:14

I really appreciate the tutorial, the game made sense afterwards and the management o a solar system for an RTS is a cool concept! Only big downside is that for a slower paced game like this, the music gets loops really quickly. And the music isn't too good, which normally wouldn't be a critical point for me but it's really loud and there's no balance audio adjustment or muting between SFX and Music.

cody-holt 2022-04-05 15:20

I really enjoyed playing this one. I think the mining was a bit tedious having to click on all of them then the asteroids. I would have liked if I could have made destroyable little ships to go mine or bring back the asteroids for me. Selecting all of the spawners and set a rally point for them to go after spawn would have been awesome too. Something so I could play longer without it feeling too tedious, but still inevitably be overrun.

kurrik 2022-04-05 15:23

This was fun! I wound up liking the mechanic of having to reposition my fleet as the planets orbited.

matt-e 2022-04-05 15:24

I love RTS! Very ambitious for a jam but it was a lot of fun. I lasted until wave 11. Here are some of my thoughts on improvements. 1. The outer mining bases cannot be selected when they reach the bottom of the screen. Presumably a resolution thing. 2. Nothing is there to stop you rushing out all the mining bases at the begining. Is the ai suppose to attack them? For me they just ignored them which meant there was nothing to punish me for being greedy. 3. Way too easy/slow ramp up for anyone who played an rts. A hard mode would be fun. 4. artillery on the outer mining bases feels useless? (unless I'm missing something.)

Great game though 🙂

arqitech 2022-04-05 15:30

@timetravelhamster Thanks for your kind words.

inappropriatename 2022-04-05 16:24

Great entry! Made it to wave 14, Only improvements i could think of is as mentioned before, if the outer planets were brought a little closer so you could be zoomed in a bit more, or even another zoom level between far and close would round this off well! otherwise, Great Job!

cagibi 2022-04-05 17:56

Very cool, I agree on the music being a bit repetitive, but the rest of the game is very impressive for the jam.

anaxie-studio 2022-04-06 11:18

Neat little game!

I would have liked more control over zoom levels, or an "extra step" in-between the current zoom options. I find that the very first view you start with was the nicest, but I couldn't seem to get back to it. I liked the detail of being able to pick which asteroid to mine (and it added to the dread of running out of resources since they get less lol), although the mining stations would probably benefit from having a clearer way to tell when they are done mining and ready to be replenished. Stacking guns on the moon and planets feels good, and I like that there are multiple choices for things to build. I ran out of things pretty quickly and only had inceptors left to build, but the inceptors are cool too.

I also like that you can try to beat your times. I lasted 6 minutes and got to wave 8 on my second try.

Good job on the game, and also on the Itch page!

arqitech 2022-04-06 11:33

@anaxie-studio Thank you very much for the helpful feedback! I agree that the zooming needs some tweaking. I would have added more enemies and resources if I had the time

Thanks for posting your scores

arqitech 2022-04-06 13:38

@matt-e Thanks for commenting! :smiley:

I really like your ideas, I might post a full version of the game sometime with some of your ideas.

arqitech 2022-04-06 14:04

Thanks everyone for your feedback!

Your comments are really helpful, since I might post a full version of the game sometime and I'll be able to implement your cool ideas :rocket:

My music needs some work, I just didn't have enough time to make it good. :musical_note:

@cody-holt I agree the mining gets old pretty soon, so I might add an advanced mining base that would mine on its own.

@pepnou I would like to add more upgrades.

@lambbrainz and @inappropriatename Yep, I should fix the thing where it zooms too much.

zoohair 2022-04-06 14:13

i love the art of the game and color palette chosen. It reminds me of the flash games that i used to play when i was a child.

mhorth 2022-04-06 23:29

I'm really impressed at how much you have in this game! Unit selection and movement systems are no small task and they feel quite polished! The all the sound effects are so bassy, I didn't even mind when aliens were attacking because it made an awesome soundtrack! Nice job!

jessekaz 2022-04-07 05:49

Love the mechanic of having limited resources, so no matter how well you do, loss is inevitable. Very well done, and a very enjoyable game to play.

Only thing I found annoying is that scrolling to zoom was way too coarse, so I just stayed zoomed out the entire game and it was annoying to select things. Making the zoom much more granular would be nice.

fatiguedfox 2022-04-07 14:19

Sweet idea. Having to work around the planet orbits to fight off the wave is interesting. Navigation was a little tricky tho, the aliens were also a little hard to watch. The art style is really cool, and sfx give some nice feedback with the weapons!

zimny11 2022-04-08 15:17

I like it a lot. The in-game mechanics are fun. Art style is nice. Music is fine too, but a bit repetitive (but I know there is only so much you can do in a few hours). I did not feel like artillery on planets are useful, due to their orbits (they rarely came into contact with enemies). Besides that, really impressive!

arqitech 2022-04-08 16:44

@zoohair, @mhorth, @fatiguedfox, thanks a lot for your kind words

@jessekaz I agree that the zooming should be more granular

@zimny11 The artillery on the other planets isn't that useful. I had planned for the aliens to attack your mining bases, but I didn't have enough time. In that situation, the artillery would have been good though. :rocket:

zimny11 2022-04-08 16:55

@arqitech That makes sense and I get it, there is always something pland, that is missing, because of time limit :)

ribout-horace 2022-04-09 16:18

A nice little strategic games! It's a little quikly but when the logic clicks in, the game loop work a little

simba 2022-04-09 16:50

I had a good amount of fun playing your game, and for a jam game it felt very complete! I did notice a few bugs, such as one of the planets going offscreen so I couldn't build there. I also felt the game was a bit easy, and the music was repetitive. Despite that, the good far outweighs any negatives here. Very innovate tower defense, well done!

itooh 2022-04-09 19:24

It's an interesting approach to tower-defense. It might need a bit of balancing: most of the time the defenses placed on other planets are useless. Maybe the planet need to be closer from one each other, or rotate faster, or maybe slow down or block the enemies? I don't know, but the idea of using their orbit to protect one single planet has potential. I also like how the resource management works, asking the player to always be attentive. There's a lot of nice little touch to the game, it's a pretty solid entry. Well done!

arqitech 2022-04-10 09:34

Thank you @ribout-horace, @itooh and @simba for your kind words!

@simba, thanks for your feedback, one of the planets does go off screen and I will fix that if I make a full version of the game

@itooh, thanks a lot for your helpful feedback! If I make a full version of the game, I will make it so that aliens attack your mining bases. In that situation, the guns on the other planets would become more useful

ardorugus 2022-04-11 07:56

Aliens and planets with some weird but addictive music, hard to play but cool and promising defensive action. Thanks for the entry!

burnsdesigns 2022-04-14 12:05

Lots of complexity and systems for a game jam! Thats impressive to build all that in a short time. The tutorial was a good idea, because I would have been lost without it. Even with it still took me a few deaths to grasp the gameplay loop.

Nicely done!

chybby 2022-04-20 15:50

Made it to wave 19 but then ran out of asteroids to mine and died. Fun little RTS.

Found an exploit with the asteroid miners, if you right click 'pick asteroid' when it's disabled it gets reenabled and you can have one miner mining multiple asteroids.

Also found it really hard to see what was going on even in full screen. The first zoom level was too zoomed in and I couldn't figure out how to pan around the map without constantly zooming out and in again.
