This is a great experiment, I will take note of this service.

<3 I love my job

erikengineengineer 2022-04-04 22:01

Your cards are so beautiful! crazy good. would you recommend bubble.io after this experiment?

kurrik 2022-04-04 22:13

Great idea and execution. Reading through all the cards was really funny! The game could have been a little deeper - not sure if I missed something but I couldn't figure out what real strategy options I had in a fight. I seemed to win a lot of things by default.

velvetlobster 2022-04-04 23:50

bubble is great, however it is still a few features away to be recommended as a tool for game development, even those that do not require much action like this one.

steve-dragon 2022-04-05 03:23

That is such an awesome idea and the fact that you executed it is, frankly, astounding to me. The conceptual building behind the game is brilliant. It feels super breezy, but I can see all the tiny things that have gone into making this the way it is. The writing is so good! Whoever wrote the copy did such a wonderful job of capturing the very specific cheeky procrastinator feel.

It does take a bit to get to grips with the controls and the set-up, but once I got the hang of it I thought it was very interesting once it got going. Bubble.io is such a fun choice. Definitely looking forward to diving deeper into this at some point!

potatolain 2022-04-05 04:07

This was a really cool entry! Not 100% sure what I did, but I made $1700 and got 4th place. I loved the graphics and the card humor. Trying a new engine during ludum dare is always an adventure - I'm glad it went well for you! Thanks for a fun entry

bottini 2022-04-05 04:21

Amazing experience. I got a bit lost at the beginning, but it was not hard to figure out, at all. The design, soundtrack and overall idea are awesome. Congrats!

joscco 2022-04-05 07:18

I love the card art, the music has a great vibe and you really found a fitting and funny idea for this jam's theme! I was bit lost with the mechanics at the beginning too though :D

apandso 2022-04-05 09:37

Wow! Card art is 10/10! I wish I could just read all the cards for fun :) The theme and vibe are amazing! I'm not sure I get game mechanics though. I was lost what to do at first and figured out most of what was going on after a few battles. But it felt random - not sure how I can influence who wins. I wish card hp had a heat icon - it would help a bit to distinguish what means what. Great job!

tudydev 2022-04-05 09:53

I really liked the concept. The artwork is awesome, I really love it.

pandore 2022-04-05 10:10

Wow, I'm really impress :O Love your art style. I had a hard time understanding the mechanics but it's mostly because I'm tired ^^' Great entry !

xparker 2022-04-05 10:22

Really like the idea and art style. Add matching audio to it all and you have this game.

My issue with it: I'm not a "Card game" player at all.

katasunder 2022-04-05 10:42

Loving The style!!!

demorok 2022-04-05 10:58

Funny concept, i like it

otterfaelure 2022-04-05 11:10

The music is excellent. I feel like this was developed for mobile, thus explaining the size on my screen, but even then I feel like seeing the cards is, difficult.

The aesthetic is really cool, though, but I struggle to find the point... I seem to just be winning everything. That could just be balancing issues, though, which are really hard to sort out in a game jam.

Keep on bopping!

heho 2022-04-05 11:32

its just an amazing game. a little small, but the theme, graphics, music and gameplay fit together really well

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 13:07

@otterfaelure currently, the point is to win the ranks, which, although the easy fights (fight selector favors easier fights), going up the ranks is quite hard (perhaps too hard at the moment) perhaps that should be told more in the tutorial

fosf0 2022-04-05 13:45

I loved the concept and the art! very good! congratulations :)

koolruz 2022-04-05 14:51

I didn't quite understand the mechanics of how attacks worked, but this is really cool and impressive for a jam game - It feels very slick and polished! I *really* like the the asynchronous autobattler idea, and with more of a tutorial, I could see myself coming back to it on my phone!

yello 2022-04-05 15:31

graphics look great

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 15:47

@koolruz yes we do need some tutorial there, we kinda went on implementing mechanic after mechanic and had not much time for tutorials and balancing

snory 2022-04-05 16:07

+10 points to Gryffindor for Chewbacca! I liked the vibe of the game and as it was my first auto battler I have to say that I am interested to see more thanks to this entry. :)

Maybe, just maybe I found a bug - when the "powers" were balanced, the autobattler stopped. On both sides we had same amount of power/lifes so it would end up with draw.

siskan 2022-04-05 16:11

Graphics are fantastic. It even sounds just about as good. Overall one of the more unique experiences so far.

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 16:12

thanks @snory and for everyone that played so far ... we see the mechanics should really be better explained, I will add a few screenshots in the tutorial part

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 16:16

thanks for the comments on the mechanics @otterfaelure @apandso

@steve-dragon lets try doing something cool with bubble next ludum dare

@erikengineengineer not too sure, how was the performance in your end when playing?

guy-girmonsky 2022-04-05 16:25

This whole game is a vibe. Loved it. Took me a bit to understand what's going on, but once I did I was already hooked with the art and music. Cards are well written aswell!

cyzaine 2022-04-05 16:28

There is just a ton to love here, but the initial learning curve was tricky. So many symbols, and interaction points and what have you. It says something about your design and fun factor that I didn't mind poking around until I got over that hump!

As far as engagement goes... my team just keeps playing your game rather than rating other peoples game! Keep up the good work.

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 16:35

thanks for playing @cyzaine I am very happy your team liked it! BTW you can use the ranking to fight specific people by increasing the bet on a specific fight

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 12.55.46.png

then you increase the bet as far as 10k or something so you in one fight pull someone from the top

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 13.34.42.png

mlkvr 2022-04-05 16:36

Unique idea and very well polished website, I don't know if its because I'm a professional procrastinator myself or it's my pure luck I haven't defeated. Liar's abilities seem a bit op but maybe there is a rock-scissor-paper relationship between them that I haven't found it yet. Nevertheless good job everyone thanks for this refreshing entry!

pickyburrito49 2022-04-05 16:39

This game is super addicting. The soundtrack is super catchy and yet strikes that balance of not being dominating. The game mechanics are nice and I can see that you have the space for power ups and such not. Some fine tuning to catch all the little odds and ends that get cut during the jam (our 'cutting room floor' is littered with ideas) and this this would be perfect for a mobile game so I can procrastinate anywhere! Also what is this bubble.io that you built the game on?

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 16:42

Hi @pickyburrito49 thanks for playing  bubble.io is a nocode development platform with a very good database ... we were using it to develop all sorts of stuff and this is our first attempt of a game on it.

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 16:44

btw @pickyburrito49 as we were using bubble we focused on developing the system for the card game, so actually it is very easy to balance / create cards / edit how they work if you have ideas that can be done without changing any part of it

cyzaine 2022-04-05 16:47

victory!.png

@velvetlobster Perfect! That let me knock down my lazy pickyburrito team mate from his domination!

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 16:50

oh I see, we were trying to knock down Rodrigo during the dev process now i see you are unbeatable @cyzaine

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 16:52

wow you are now 2 times the second place if you all go beyond 200k we will add a card for your team :gift:

@cyzaine

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 13.51.12.png

gravityflip 2022-04-05 17:04

Art is really cool! I felt trendy just playing it!

pickyburrito49 2022-04-05 17:06

score.png Challenge accepted. @cyzaine and our team tried a combat card game mechanic in our first game jam game and this brings me back!

seppskit 2022-04-05 17:32

That's a fun idea. The graphics are also very good. Well done!

itzemii 2022-04-05 17:32

That's a cool game idea. And very polished complete implementation. Very unique experience. Sound does not feel like what a procrastinator does, but ok. Graphics/ style is great. It felt a bit complex to me, so I did not dive into all the depths of the game, which is probably has. Good job, impressive for a three day jam!

cyzaine 2022-04-05 17:41

Somni-victory.png

Yeesh! Aggy in our game Somnipathy would definitely play this game all night rather than sleep. HEre's a screen shot before Rodgrigo knocks me out again. Smooth move Nicky deleting their character so I can't challenge them!

andre-sadie 2022-04-05 17:58

I'll be honest, I didn't really understand the mechanics or strategy but still played it for quite a while. Not sure whats going on but the game seems to get stuck if you bet more than 10k and then I had to refresh and then give up to get out of the battle. The sound for hover over buttons kinda annoyed me. It sounds like its behind me that feels a bit weird.

The art, sound and feel of the whole thing is amazing though and it seems like you have a solid framework.

ghatazorg 2022-04-05 18:12

Procrastination was my first idea about the theme x) I love this project ! Graphics and game experience are successful

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 18:14

@andre-sadie I think the best way to describe is to say that it is another take on the pets auto battler type of fight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6L8mHuTerQ

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 18:15

wow! we will get a special card for your team @cyzaine :art:

adele-illustration 2022-04-05 18:19

Oh how i loved this game! Super fun concept, really funny cards and overall super innovative and fun! I didnt really understand what I was doing (some more explanations on how cards work would have been cool) but I won a few rounds so I'm happy with that. great job!!

xedur 2022-04-05 18:30

I played a few rounds and I'm not sure how well this fits the theme as I don't know what the inevitable was that was supposed to be delayed.

The art style was clean and minimal, and made me think this was intended for a phone. A card battler is fun nonetheless!

The thing that impressed me the most, however, is if you really bought a domain, set up hosting and made a multiplayer auto battler over the weekend for LD. That's impressive.

effe 2022-04-05 18:48

cmon guys! i just ate one dessert..... its not fair LOL @cyzaine

back.JPG

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 19:07

@xedur oh it was delay being fired  oh domain setup is as quick as

"hey, fireme.club is available"

"setup domain in bubble.io is seriously one input, like this"

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 16.03.24.png

we changed the name of the game to fireme.club after starting, it was supposed to be something with procrastinator.club but not only was taken but also a lot ... longer and full of consonants (english is not our first language so that was not such a friendly  name to use)

it took us longer to figure out the name than to set it up actually

btw I consider bubble.io to be a few features away from being a decent game dev platform, I would love to have more devs knocking on their doors asking for game dev features

nyanpierre 2022-04-05 19:26

I didn't understand everything but the idea is really cool! the humor of the game works really well and the graphics too (special mention to the dancing dog)

gramsinator 2022-04-05 19:31

The world and narrative is great !

Music and sound feel is nice and everything. It just feels non interactive, I dont really understand what I am doing mostly, bad icon design i think, the whole arrow thing is unclear, seems like automatic combat with fast forward ? But then why is there several "skills" on the side ? I'm lost.

Also tutorial is wall of text. So no learning curve, which is sad.

I did enjoy the game tho, but pretty much only because of narrative and fun drawings. Music was also quite enjoyable.

gtogrmri 2022-04-05 19:50

This is a seriously well-made game! The graphics are extremely polished, and the audio is very nice. The battling system was a little confusing - there seems to be so much going on everywhere! Though I did enjoy the automatic battling, and I liked seeing the different stats on the different cards. I really liked the theme of the game. A very unique twist to the theme of this game jam!

effe 2022-04-05 19:51

oh, thanks for playing, @nyanpierre! try to play again. :) i hope you like it and dont be fired!! lol choose a card and battle with another person trying not to be fire too. may the beste procrastinator win

and thanks for the compliment! is a tribute to the mutt caramel dog, very common (and loved) in Brasil.

cactusdan 2022-04-05 20:48

Making an online game for ludum dare is super freaking cool. I couldn't really get the hang of what I was doing but I'm also not used to auto-battlers so I'm sure I'd get it with enough time. The graphics and music were very neat.

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 21:03

hey @cyzaine there is a little homage to your entry now in the store, we hope you like it

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 18.01.11.png

cyzaine 2022-04-05 21:26

@velvetlobster You guys are too much. I cant wait to share it with the rest of my team~

zacharypinkham 2022-04-05 21:38

Very cool little concept! I love the aesthetic and there's a whole lot of potential in this to grow it further. I'll admit that I didn't fully understand how the battling worked so it was hard to parse a strategy (other than running away when the Grinch came in hahaha), but it was still a fun time. Great work!

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 21:49

thanks for playing @zacharypinkham

ok we do need a better tutorial and balancing ... basically you can choose the traits that you will lead into battle and which cards to hold, and which to sell (when you throw away you are actually selling its stamina, the "water" sign) .... as people will battle you cards even when you are away, you can be "fired" even if you are not playing directly if your cards get out of stamina.

yes the choosing of attributes only makes sense for cards that have a lot of attributes like this one

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 18.45.41.png

dj-depressive 2022-04-05 21:54

Hahaha, fun to see someone else who interpreted the theme with getting fired being inevitable. Although our games are really different! This entire game is an impressive feat! Loved the art-style and the music was on point. If I'm honest I wasn't quite able to follow what was happening when I battled someone but I won which was fun :sunglasses:

velvetlobster 2022-04-05 21:56

each trait has an attack, health and an attack debuf

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 18.50.50.png

debufs apply first, so you wanna have debuffer traits before the attack ones ... if you think you have a considerable chance of winning you can increase the bet

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 18.51.35.png Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 18.52.33.png

if you actively started the battle you have a huge advantage for your traits will attack first always. a fast way to go to the top is to pick someone on top of you in the ranks and bet real high, you have a lot more chance of winning if you actively challenge them, like this:

Captura de Tela 2022-04-05 às 18.55.40.png

sodoj 2022-04-05 23:33

This is just amazing.

kazuonomura 2022-04-05 23:39

Loved it! I really enjoyed the idea as whole. The song is so relaxing I could play it for hours without getting annoyed. AMAZING ARTS! Seriously, the best part. Cards look fun and interesting. In terms of gameplay, I couldn't get the strategies that are possible, I didn't understant how I could improve my chances of winning, though I did make some money. Great game!

dps2004 2022-04-05 23:50

grinch op pls nerf

jitspoe 2022-04-05 23:51

Really impressive entry -- so much art and so many mechanics. Wish I had more time to play and really wrap my head around everything that was going on.

apphons6 2022-04-06 00:41

Fun art, great game with a lot of content, nice music and very funny!

jason200101 2022-04-06 01:31

This game has consumed my life and it's only been out for a couple hours please help.

I will say that the Evil Attribute is too powerful though. And the limitations don't do much when you can just edit them out. Still fun!

matt-rice 2022-04-06 02:15

Really fun game! And I loved the style and music! The battle area and text could have been a little larger but I love card battlers and you nailed it!

velvetlobster 2022-04-06 03:46

thanks for playing folks =), @matt-rice yes I do agree that it could be bigger, but we did not want to change things after the 2nd day with a thousand things to do in terms of core mechanics lol I am glad you enjoyed it @jason200101 those numbers are easily adjustable, evil is indeed very powerful, but not if you attack first

tanner-shelton 2022-04-06 07:36

Great job on the art on this game! I really liked the retro vibe. I really felt immersed in the universe.

tigerj 2022-04-06 14:22

So.. after streaming this I think some of my community members had to take the top spot. It was just that much fun for everyone to checkout. I love the art and animations as well as the game style and concept. Plus I was able to bust out my favorite drink cooler I've had for 23 years. Procrastinate Now! Here is a link to your game being streamed: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1447965941?t=01h09m40s IMG_1343.jpg

velvetlobster 2022-04-06 14:25

@tigerj if you manage to knock out the current top player @cyzaine we will get a special card made for you

tigerj 2022-04-06 14:42

@velvetlobster after my meetings today I may have to do this.

kemsou 2022-04-06 15:54

That's an amazing entry! You even bought a domain name for it, incredible! I love the multiplayer aspect and the humor, but without tutorialization, it was a bit hard to understand what I was doing or what would be a good strategy.

It is still really original, polished and fun, great job

velvetlobster 2022-04-06 16:01

thanks @kemsou

vixenmink 2022-04-06 19:14

At first I was confused on where I could find the game since the "Downloads and Links" area was empty. There is a lot of information to take in on how to play the game but after I attacked a few times and read the other person's stats, it was a bit easier to play the game. A few times I went to find a new loafer only to realize I was stuck in a battle sequence without any of the moves attacking.

Perks: + I like the card variety and their respective moves you can add for your strat. + Keeping the cards to a limited palette made me feel like it could be an actual card game. + Music was delightfully repetitive and I will most likely be doing that dance for the next few days thinking of your game.

Suggestions: - Maybe add another link to your game at the very bottom of your description. - Add a max bet limit warning and message somewhere on the play screen. - Disable advancing the game if you do bid too high

The Somnipathy card is kick ass btw. Thanks for making such an enjoyable game :) It helped me procrastinate what I inevitably have to go take care of.

<3

gabriel-dias-oliveira-de-almeida 2022-04-06 19:17

I am so glad to play this game, thank you so much for making this and I am more glad that Brazilians did this! Congratulations for the amazing job guys! Hope you can make more games like this!

roronoacherry 2022-04-06 20:28

Super cool graphics and music!! I like the fast gameplay and procrastinate, oc!

velvetlobster 2022-04-06 20:38

thanks for the detailed feedback @vixenmink

oh I have no idea what makes things break if you go beyond that lolol

so I basically gave up for now so not to break anything else

thanks for playing @gabriel-dias-oliveira-de-almeida and @roronoacherry

leiv-erik 2022-04-06 20:52

Nice game! Not sure i 100% understand the combat system, but i got a grinch and it did work! :D

Liked the artwork and it fit the theme nicely :)

bios3008 2022-04-06 21:40

There have give great work! Nice Game!

sofignedova 2022-04-06 23:01

Great idea! A fresh look at the topic! Great style! I got an incredible pleasure!

Dancing dog with a boy funny video stole my heart ahaha

papabirb 2022-04-06 23:21

I didn't really understand much of what I was doing enough to strategize; sort of seemed like "click fight to win", lol. But the music was SUPER bopping, I really liked the music!

peterfiftyfour 2022-04-07 10:07

Who did the music? It's great!

velvetlobster 2022-04-07 11:10

thanks for playing @papabirb and @peterfiftyfour and @sofignedova and @bios3008 @leiv-erik

it feels like click fight to win because you started the fight when you click it, but for the person who is in the other side that is a defeat (all fights are against real people) so that also means your cards are available online to be fought against and easily won (initiating the fight gives you the advantage, so the thing is not wether you win or loose an initiated battle, rather how much you bet you will win)

so it feels like you are winning easily because you are starting the battles, but for other people that are initiating battles against you that will also be the case so you might get fired because of them

boaheck-artgent 2022-04-07 12:49

Great work, I don't quite understand what's happening but what I do understand is that my toilet beats everything and that makes me happy. The design and audio are really great and the Concept is perfect for the theme, well done!

keichits 2022-04-07 14:21

Very complete and polished game the graphics are awesome. It's very impressive for a 72h game. Congrats, I really enjoyed it.

velvetlobster 2022-04-07 15:17

thanks @boaheck-artgent and @keichits for playing

lcrabbit 2022-04-07 20:35

I really loved the idea, it was so polished. I have ot admit that I couldn't stop watching the dog dancing on the left side of the screen. Something that I really liked was how you managed to balance it!

vidarn 2022-04-08 10:52

Cool game! The art and sound was super nice and it felt like a solid experience! The online competitive nature of the game and the collection aspect made it really addictive.

anaxie-studio 2022-04-08 13:47

Love the art style, and the music is sick! It's really cool to be able to face other players and I've seen some familiar faces around :)

It was a little hard to understand at first, but apart from that it's a neat concept. It looks professional and I'm impressed by the amount of content. Cards are funny too. Great job, guys!

effe 2022-04-08 17:00

@lcrabbit thanks for playing!!! the dancing dog and guy was really really fun to do. LOL :) im glad you liked!

cyzaine 2022-04-08 19:55

@velvetlobster Much like us Aggy seems to be losing sleep over fireme.club too fireme-hi.png

(going into our next bug fix build unless you'd rather it not. It does contain the whole dance. No worries either way!)

iguanana 2022-04-09 00:48

Very neat! I love the music and the guy/dog dancing animation. I do think I ran into a bug in a battle where thee battle never showed that attacks or progressed. Great job overall though! Loved the idea.

kylazaur 2022-04-09 11:20

Great entry you've got here, I had no idea what was going on for the most part (due to me being impatient and skipping over some of the text) but nevertheless, had a fun time with this

thegamerasd 2022-04-09 15:42

Cool game, the artstyle is nice and I like the concept!

yusovv 2022-04-09 21:00

4 days later, I returned to you in the game to refresh my emotions. I want to emphasize that you make a good variety of cards, it's really cool. Excellent project

okamit 2022-04-10 02:04

I can really FEEL this! Great idea and concept, and it's very stylish, I spent a few minutes just staring at the guy and his dog due to the pure style of the animation. It inspired me, and made me feel some kind of nostalgia taking me back to a fictional 90's that probably only exists within my mind. Anyways, the feeling was really nice and I would love to se the aesthetics used again for new concepts, because they are great.

Good luck and well done!

sarah 2022-04-10 05:12

So i'm really bad at this, however it's a really interesting idea! I could see myself getting better at it if I actually spent a bit more time. The overall look of it is interesting and I like it!

Overall it looks pretty polished and well done, nice job!

trexxak 2022-04-10 19:24

Very ambitious and thought out auto-battler! The animation on the side with accompanying music cracked me up :D

velvetlobster 2022-04-11 11:38

thank you all for playing @trexxak @okamit

@yusovv, thanks for getting back to it

We plan on releasing it as an app on mobile just to see how people receive it. We will be changing the cards and powers based on the LDJam feedback tho

velvetlobster 2022-04-11 11:39

oh @cyzaine that is so lovely, you guys are awesome :love_letter:

As a (pro)crastrinator I could relate to the theme.

I like the graphical style and humor in the presentation of the cards. The rotoscoped(?) guy dancin' along the bopping music was also a nice touch.

Don't think I figured out the mechanics/game logic in a deeper level, but I'd probably get the hang of it if I'd go and pick more fights.

Stylistically it's well put-together. Keep on jamming!

Great jam game, the art style really shines with the different procrastination strategies. While not totally intuitive on the second-to-second gameplay, the card battler does fit the whole package with the impressive addition of the rankings and ladder.

Fun game, awesome visuals and music. Was a bit confused at first, but took the time to look at the tutorial and then I was crushing it! Great entry and good luck!

Excellent entry, I really should give more time into this one as there is probably a lot of things to try there. Good job from all of you!

Super nice game!! The graphics remind me a bit of NewYorker style/ Monopoly which is super good, they're super funny. I love the music, perfect choice! I thought the grinch is the strongest, but I guess the toilet is quite good too. I really like the dancing dude with his dog, low fps, but it looks ok. I had a lot of fun!! Well done!!

I love the art style and the music here. Humor is also top-notch, and the game feels well polished. Like the vibing man and dog, this absolutely was a cool entry. Loved it!

That was quite fun! Great art and nice concept. It felt a bit too complicated for me, even after 15 mins I was still a bit lost on some of the mechanics.

Thanks for the game!

Very funny concept! I included it in my Ludum Dare compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/dNThIjw08MI
