LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Shoal by Kerdelos 2022-04-05T13:46:52Z

The various ways you could lose fishes added to the fun of the gameplay and the waterfalls made it so you can't always stay at the bottom of the screen. Very nicely done for a short jam. More/longer levels could turn this into a very fine game. I liked the relaxing tune and the pixel had a nice feel and was well animated too!

Controls have a bit of a learning curve but it's quite enjoyable when you get the hang of it. Graphics are very nice, both the funny looking cat and level design as well as things like lighting. The soundtrack was both fitting and contrasting to the cat's vibe at the same time, I think that helped setting a certain mood which I liked. I hope that's making sense.

Spider Tower by Bdiebeak 2022-04-05T18:37:34Z

I like the feeling of a little game at home, the tune caught the same mood. Physics felt pretty good and it's vibrant and well presented graphically. My best score was 227, forgive me for not being able to save the spider. : (

Graphics are fantastic. It even sounds just about as good. Overall one of the more unique experiences so far.

Heaven Fallen by Lighty_the_Light 2022-04-05T16:01:25Z

It was confusing at first, but it quickly became one of the most fun games in this LD that I've tried so far! It'd be nice if you could check what the enemy blocks do so you can plan accordingly.

The graphics add a lot to the fun, it's enjoyable to watch. So good job on that (the sound too). The resource numbers could be a bit more contrasting to the background. I'm also personally not a fan of mixed pixel sizes, it makes some of the icons appear to be a bit sloppy than the others.

Jam Time! by bigassopper 2022-04-05T10:36:55Z

Fun game! While I appreciate the simplicity, sometimes I wished that I'd had more control over shooting direction. Not least because I spent a lot of time fleeing. I liked the customization possible with the buffs though and it made up for it in some ways.

Also, pretty pixel art! Very coherent and across the game too. Music was a very good match as well. Overall this game felt more or less finished, which is quite impressive in itself.

AIRTIME! by Manny Mallea 2022-04-05T13:31:48Z

Perfect soundtrack for this. Fun concept, fun to play. The scream is great and the graphics work really well for this

It might perhaps be more fun if the purple clouds swept you away to disrupt your plans rather than just being purely bad luck.

Trying to die as quickly as possible is actually also a bit fun. It could be a second game mode.

Baggy & Maggy by Revetoon 2022-04-05T12:43:11Z

I couldn't jump with W, nothing happened. Arrow keys did work, but felt a bit weird when also using the mouse. Other than that the physics felt really good.

I also couldn't figure out how to get the candle into the mug unfortunately (maybe there was another possible route which lets you drop it in from above, I arrived dragging it from the right), but I played long enough to say you've got a concept that works! It was fun for the most part. The achievements on the first level were perhaps a little bit too easy to find however.

Also very pretty pixel art (and lots of it!). The tune playing was also enjoyable and fitting. Overall you did well with the mood of the levels I experienced.

The British Are Coming! by Mog13 2022-04-05T10:18:42Z

Fun theme! Voices added a lot. : D Mechanics worked well for the most part. I could see this evolving.

Improvements: - It would have been good to have a quick button for sending all pirates. - Camera rotation felt weird.

Bugs (occasional): - Pirates became stuck both on their way to the treasure and on the pier on the way back, resulting in losses. - Dead pirates entered a tumbling state and rolled across the map until they fell into the water and fell for an eternity (actually a bit entertaining).

Live, Flame, Live! by SayuriNyooko 2022-04-05T13:17:08Z

I liked the setting and mood created by the sounds and graphics. I caught a glimpse of a wolf I think, such details add a lot for this type of game. I also liked that it somehow felt relaxing even though it was a battle against time!

Project Memory: Delay Extinction by RaXaH 2022-04-05T12:06:13Z

Really nice concept! It was engaging to play. Lots of variables made it interesting and I like the strategy elements. The song played was super and the graphics on point style and quality wise.

I'd like an easy way to keep track of how many turns remain of my rangers though, I ultimately lost because several disappeared at once while being low on funds. In the web version all graphics but the menu only displayed in the top left quarter of the screen. Everything was fine with the downloaded version.

Take what you've learnt here and figure Unity out a bit more until next time and you'll make something fun! I think it's really nice how you've seemingly used an actual painting on canvas for the background. I've wanted to try something like that myself. It has a nice and cosy feel too, as does the music!
