pretty cool !

troy-korns 2023-10-03 12:27

Loved the idea and random events to gain resources. Resource creation interaction worked well and I appreciated the timer on the objects as they build. My only complaint is that when you hit "restart", your number of available workers was stuck at 0 for the next run so I couldn't do anything.

bergeronimo 2023-10-03 12:30

I like that this one gives you a tutorial and guides you through what you're supposed to do early. A lot of games forget that onboarding the player is important. Once you get into the game, the music and the narrative elements are nice. I think the game crashed after I lost due to dehydration when I tried to restart.

zerohalogen 2023-10-03 12:36

really nice game, but there is a little balance problem: you can have just a few crew members (like 5 or something), build enough resource buildings, and then just click NO in every question, and finish the game

fernando-tonon-de-rossi 2023-10-03 12:39

Very nice puzzle!

abadhabit 2023-10-03 12:42

Fun and nice idea. The start was a little rough / confusing with the timing. Ecnountered a minor big when new crew didnt join the ship even thuogh i accepted them and had the space. The game ended successfull on 164 days, i think something got mixed up when restarting. Loved the chill music and different builing desing / challenge. Wlell done! Very nice Crew chat function :)

nathmate 2023-10-04 09:57

Nice concept and well executed.

The ship design, comm chatter background sounds and general vibe felt like Homeworld homages. Also got some Battlestar Galactica vibes, and of course there was Mr Khan. Were the XO and comms officer portraits of members of the team, by any chance?

**Bugs**

I did manage to sequence break the tutorial by building things other than two hab block immediately. And it seems the game state is not properly reset on restart, I immediately get "-1 days to dehydration" and "-2 available housing" if I lose from dehydration with 5 housing spots, for instance. The tutorial doesn't actually seem to be skipped if you pick "skip tutorial", you still get the prompt to build habs after building vertical farms. I also got the "rescue governor" event twice in a row (the first time I declined).

**Balance**

I agree with @zerohalogen that it's a bit too easy, past the initial stabilisation of resources. If you want to pursue the game further having resources dependencies (food requires water, etc.) would be cool, and of course more events and event chains as FTL and Papers Please have would lead to a nicely fleshed out game.

rincs 2023-10-06 09:25

I really enjoyed that and I hope that the post-jam built has more exciting events! And I hope that you guys make the map working somehow.

2023-10-06 16:47

Nice game. I lost nearly all my crews and reached 999 resources at the last day.

bradjste 2023-10-06 17:24

Fun idea and well executed. I enjoyed the art and music a lot!

Nice game, first run was challenging since I don't really know the difficulty and how strict the game could be, but i ended up max all resources, so as every one mentioned it has balancing issue (which is a hard thing to do within a short development duration since balancing requires a lot of play through to get it right).

I enjoy the art, very fitting to the vibe. Audio is also a plus.

The randomness could use a bit more polished, such as using a shuffled queue of events (similar to 7-bag random generator of Tetris) to ensure different type of events in-a-row instead of just picking a random event from the events pool.

I believe this game has potential, and team should focus on replay-ability next. GL and thanks for the game.

Really like this game idea! At first time I even don't know we can rotate (only in the middle of the game I saw the info on the top-left side Haha.

likirus 2023-10-07 09:44

Very nice game and well polished (maybe with the exception that the restart button does not seem to work). I got a bit screwed by the random events and only got events where I lost crew until I had none left ( I had like 500 of each resources and was desperatly waiting for a "get more crew" event ). Maybe you could have done the events with a Rimworld-style storyteller in mind that keeps things a bit more balanced (i.e. crew join events are more likely when the crew is low and vice versa ), but maybe that would have been a bit out of scope for a game jam submission. Nevertheless, one of the best game I have played so far. Good job!

terminalgoat 2023-10-07 09:47

Gotta love the atmosphere, especially the music which fits with the game so well and kind of brings some chill vibes, incredibly done in just 48 hours. All aspects of this game are executed and polished so well and i think this game really has some great potential in the future if there is more post-jam development on it, feeling like a pretty much completed game. Love it!

Very cool game loop with some fun moments, events were a bit iffy but I understand why.

The balance was reasonably good but I think fixing degenerate strategies (running skeleton crew and never having resource issues) is paramount. The midgame was great where I was desperately balancing resources off eachother, but eventually I found stable equilibrium and smashed through the rest of the game.

I think there needs to be more ways for things to go wrong, more incentive to carry extra crew and probably some limitations on how much you can stockpile. The game is also paced a bit too slowly. Potentially turn based or at least a shorter timer would be much better I think, most of my gameplay time was spent waiting unfortunately. Oh yeah and it would be nice to color code resource icons to help identify them faster.

Great art and concept, solid execution too the actual interaction between systems etc. works great! No bugs!

Overall very cool idea, huge scope pulled off pretty well but needed a little more time to cook, great stuff!

digital-bacon 2023-10-07 11:29

Neat game. Love the graphics (especially the crew portraits), and the variation in events. Well done!

jeff-kerman 2023-10-07 16:04

Great game, I loved the ambience with the space chatter and music. I found some minor bugs with the gameplay but overall very nice.

equalenergy 2023-10-08 02:42

Once I realized this was pixel art, I felt astonished, super great gameplay, except I died of dehydration. Note to self: if ever assigned space captain immediately refuse apparently I suck at keeping people alive!

mehul 2023-10-08 04:09

Got some of that ftl vibe. Fun loop, and art was great. My crew died of starvation.

woona 2023-10-08 06:55

Awesome! I really loved the art style and the music. It fits the space theme very well.

While managing resources and pushing your luck with more crew is quite fun, I wish that the game was more challenging. I was able to maintain huge stockpiles of all resources without any difficulty and even reached the maximum of 999. Maybe, I was just very lucky with events, I can't say for sure.

Some kind of a final challenge after 200 days would make it more fun, too. As of right now, the game ends without any climax.

Still, it's a great game. Thanks a lot for making it!

kyle-farwell 2023-10-10 00:51

Fun concept, well polished and tied together with fantastic music and art. Very well done :)

lincolnsalles 2023-10-10 18:25

The music is very calming and fits well with the space. I would prefer that somehow the tutorial was in real time without the system of going through the dialogues, which is always a bit tedious. But the graphics are well done and fit well within the theme. I even survived a considerable time. I would like the game not to stop when we have messages to read, interruptions disrupt the flow of the game, I think. It's a good idea without a doubt, a good entry.

metzkermeister 2023-10-10 18:58

tfw you recieve null crew... Very well polished game, great music and visuals. Gamplay is really crips too, sadly it is too easy in its current state. The initial crew is enough to build a self sufficient economie and from that point on you simply reject any new crew and wait for victory.

egormnc 2023-10-14 14:07

The game is interesting, it was quite nice to play it, keep working on it and everything will be cool

natano 2023-10-14 14:17

Beautiful game, it reminds me of a mix of village games (mobile), survival games (like 60 seconds or fallout shelter) and tetris, one of the best combinations haha. I have to talk about the design, I loved the story, the art interacts very well with the game, it's challenging but not too much, everything is very well done. I see affection, dedication and great programming in this game, congratulations!

tucan 2023-10-15 04:35

This game feels really polished! The music is really enjoyable, the graphics are great, the UI looks clean and easy to understand and the mechanics are really good too! I really like the concept and the way the team executed the idea of managing your limited resources and space while unexpected events happen! I think I found a little bug the first time I died where I could not build anything, after reloading the game I was able to play smoothly! This team managed to get this level of polishing during a jam timeline, that is amazing! I wonder what you guys could get done with a little bit more time! Good Job!

saralizzieb 2023-10-18 02:00

Solid concept, plays really nice and I really like this take on the theme! The music is also great, congrats!!

voxel 2023-10-19 03:30

The presentation is very nice, I especially like the character portraits. I had to play without audio so I've not voted there, but I had a nice time regardless and think this is a good candidate for post-jam improvements
