Great art!

I'm in love with the game aesthetic!! Nice job!

Amazing pixel arts! Might be the best graphics so far! The white text is a bit obscure on the light background. Maybe adding strokes could help. Overall a great work!

Edit: Haven't discover that's your first game! That's way more astonishing!

Loved the art, especially the enemies. I was very pleased that you allow the player to fire as fast as they can press the key on their keyboard, just like my favorite shm'ups when I was a kid.

The player's fighter movement feels a bit clumsy. I think 2 things could be improved:

- it lacks a bit in visual responsiveness/indication of movement. If you simply added an extra pair of sprites for it: one representing the ship tilted, say, 30 degrees on one side, and the other sprite for the same amount of tilt in the *opposite* direction, and then you swapped to the proper "tilted" sprite when the player moves up or down, it would bring the graphics to a next level of polish already.

- it's not easy to move a small distance without going further than intended. I'm not sure if it would work better with a controller/joysticks or if the implementation is intentional, but in my keyboard experience it felt impossible to slowly drift into being lined up with an enemy.

Good job on distinguishing the audio cues for player damage taken and enemy death so effectively! I never mixed the 2 up even when they started heavily overlapping.

Great Shmup, really enjoyed the visuals

Cool arcade game. The art done perfect. The SFX work done on level. I had some fun playing it <3

Fun arcade game, great art. Love that you could destroy enemy bullets with your own. Would be awesome if there were different gun types/power ups though

chaoli 2023-10-06 15:18

Nice game! I love the art. Maybe making the clouds act as moving obstacles will be cool XD

I'm not sure I can find a web export on the referenced itchio page. Can this game be played in the browser?

Unfortunately, the itch.io page behind the HTML5 webgame link just offers a windows download... thats disappointing

Overall great work for your first entry! The graphics are great and especially the title screen. I liked the colour scheme being used in the game. Personally found it a bit hard to tell when you get hit by enemy's attack when you move around so much and trying to dodge. Perhaps some sort of visual could be added? For instance a red flash on the screen or the ship itself, or perhaps the ship flickering. Nevertheless great work, and I hope your team creates more games in the future!

PS: Title screen music was funky

The art all around is great, especially the color pallets. Not a big fan of being destroyed by cloud, especially when the enemy ship is on the edge of the map. Also it would have been great if the ship was faster than the bullet. Once an enemy shoots, its practically impossible to shoot that one back.

Really very cool graphics and enjoyable gameplay!)

Great entry guys! The pixel art is really cool and detailed, I really adore the menu screen, it looks so cool and majestic! The menu music is also good, very relaxing. But I think the movement speed of the player's ship is kinda slow compares to the enemies, which makes it difficult to land hits on enemies and dodge incoming bullet. And it'd be nice if you guys made the player's ship auto shoot instead, because my finger was tired from keep pressing the mouse in order to shoot bullets in a long period of time.

Other than that, you guys did a good job on the first entry of Ludum Dare! Cheers!

WOW those clouds are gorgeous! The rest of the sprites are great too, but the clouds are distractingly beautiful. The hitboxes on them are a little unforgiving - I was so confused on many deaths, eventually realizing I had clipped the very tiniest edge of one of them. Some grace on that would have kept me playing a bit longer! I found it somewhat difficult to kill enemies without either taking shots from them or ramming into them, mainly due to their near-constant firing. If there was a more discernable pattern to their shooting, especially with the first 20 or so enemies, the game would be much more accessible and fun. Clicking/hitting space repeatedly can be tiring on the fingers, so consider making a hold-to-fire option in the next update or next shooter you make if it's going to be as fast-paced as this one. Music seemed like it didn't fit the setting too well; I wanted some high-energy bangers going for my space shooting adventure! Good work for your first game!

jakubbala 2023-10-08 01:14

The difficulty doesnt ramp quickly enough for the mothership to be a problem, and also the cloud hitboxes seem to be a little busted because sometimes it seemed like I would die out of nowhere. I felt like you couldve also been a bit more inventive. Otherwise, the graphics were very pretty. Very aesthetic

boddiul 2023-10-10 22:47

Very cool graphics. Good use of the theme and nice implementation of a shoot 'em up game. Great work!

The music seemed too calm, which doesn't quite fit such an action-paced game.

It also doesn't seem very logical/obvious to die from colliding with clouds, but let's assume these futuristic space ships can't handle turbulence.

"HTML5 (web)" should be a web based distribution, not just a download page for windows

tonyslav 2023-10-16 22:19

A very cool idea, the gameplay is okay, but i liked it
