Pretty cool! After I figured out I could rapid fire by clicking like crazy, it was even more fun. I like the simple momentum mechanic, with the simple whirlpool and pirate obstacles. Some simple elements for some fun gameplay!
3 deliveries, haha. Those whirlpools kinda feel too strong, so you have to channel your inner kerbal space engineer to slingshot through those whirlpools. Once you have that, its pretty doable.
Overall, a tun little demo. Well done.
Nice game, obviously lacks a lot of polish, but has potential to be a small fun game. The pirates are way too accurate, you can't really dodge them, once you see them you accept you are going to get hit by them. The whirpools were very very strong, I don't think it should've reduced your hp once you are in it but also the pull is too strong to get out once you are too deep in it. The movement and the delivery part were fun so kudos on that. Nice Entry :)
Well I got stuck in the loop, so there's that. Pretty fun, needs polish
Control of the boat feels a little bit too floaty for me, but I understand that this is part of the design. A lot of the time I found myself being unable to get out of the Swirls because I don't have enough speed. I feel like some sort of speed boost action, that takes time to recharge, would help this game a lot. Other than that it was a nice little game, good job!
The swirls are just too... swirley? That part of the game could use some balancing. Great concept though, and I did like how the boat controls feel in general - it's thick, but it makes sense. That is, until another swirl devours you :)
Well done on completing your game. My favorite was the "swirl" pulling mechanic, it felt really realistic.
As others said the balancing of the game could really be improved. I feel the game would be enhanced with some music, more diverse fx and, most importantly some kind of game over screen (maybe with the high score?). I noticed we could go "out of bound".
I enjoyed the controls, as @annie-owl said, they are floaty, but it feels right for me.
Nice entry for a compo. Good job!
nice idea! I think some kind of indicator for enemies if they not in the screen will be useful here
I realy dig this entry core game loop. With a little polishing in thinks like a good background music, a end of game screen, and a little more of UI info like where are enemys coming or maybe the distance to the next dock it could become and even better experience.
I really liked it! by the way, I haven't seen similar games here yet. And nice pixelart!
Solid entry! Really liked it. :)
Nice little game. Swirls sometimes pull really hard but that's part of challenge. The scope is little but you managed to complete the game nevertheless.
Good work!
I think the other ships shouldn't be able to shoot you if you can't see them, it makes it a bit unfair. maybe they could have a higher firerate the sea should have less swirls or you should have more control over your boat, because it's almost impossible to dodge them
Nice game!
The concept is clear, the controls are cool, and the R to restart is something missing in most compo games, so it's great to see it here! I found the game really hard, especially the movements: it's really easy to get sucked in typhoons, and really hard to avoid any opponents bullets. Maybe adding a bit more power to the boat would make it funnier?
Great job and thanks for the game 💕
Really interesting and fun to play! Maybe it will be better if the player ship movement can follow the input direction. ^_^
Love a ship game and this was really great and arcadey! The ship controls were excellent and you really felt the weight of it. Though the shooting was a bit spammy for my liking. Also I think the maelstroms should be bigger, but start out weaker in force (stronger as you get closer). I think you're missing a trick not using the maelstroms as risky speed boosts (slingshot) as opposed to instadeath as they are now. Anyway that's all nitpicky rambling on my end. It was a great entry and I enjoyed playing.
