Cute and fun. Excellent pixel art. great work!
Really nice art style. I loved how it reminded me of some retro games like balloon fight. The is nice and small, but really fun too. Only thing that would complete this is a little background music. I have to come back to it and try to get all of the balloons, but good job!
I got Amazing Perfect! \o/ I wasn't safe though, just about to fall off the bottom of the screen when It ended haha. This is very fun and unique I enjoyed playing it a lot! :)
Cute but brutal! One mistake and its the end. I enjoyed how the clock arm played in to the game, it actually does affect how you've got to play as it circles around. I'd have liked some sort of recovery mechanic, maybe a very timing based way to catch more of a bounce from the balloons, just to have a way to recover from small mistakes.
Honestly this is a great concept. Not just gameplay-wise, but when you load into the game and grok the idea and what you need to do, a lot of things immediate click into place as you what you're going to do. You know you'll be playing around with jump heights as the clock rotates. You know you'll have to make sure you float back, etc. Idk, like my Balloon Time life flashed before my eyes after the first few pops lol. I think that revelation-effect was pretty interesting and got me hooked.
The first run was simple enough. I actually thought "interesting, this is probably the easiest pkenney game yet." But then I saw the score screen and realized the horror. HAVING TO HIT EVERY BALLOON CHANGES EVERYTHING!
Failed the 2nd attempt but got it on the 3rd: asdfasdf.png
The game seemed tuned juuust good enough because you had to learn a few execution tricks as well as better strategy. What stands out about the game is that as the balloons come up, you're doing a lot of calculations actually (this feeds into the grokkability of the game). You're predicting the positions of the balloons based on their color, predicting where you'll be when the heights are right, and then quickly coming up with a basic flight plan to handle that. This was VERY cool. Simple and effective mechanics that have depth when combined together.
Very fun game. I wonder what it would be like with harder levels when the clock spins even faster. I think those calculations would get very intense, even without changes to the balloons. Not to mention just being able to stay on the platform naturally. Spinning too fast of course, would force people to just jump in the air a lot and land when the platforms come around again, so it'd be a balance of speed.
This is pretty fun and well compo game. The idea is really fun, and the visuals is very sweet. Well done.
Fun game with cute art, well done! :)
Really cool idea! Collecting the balloon is satisfying. The movement could be challenging and a little bit tricky at first but it's pretty enjoyable. Really awesome compo entry of this LD
I got a 'Great!' That's good enough for me.
Really simple but effective game! I really dig the graphics and the art style. I think the bounce from the balloons could be way more forgiving or some ability to 'save' your run with a double jump would be nice.
The art is cute, and the gameplay mechanic is a unique spin on the theme. For me, I'd like something to make recovery possible - because as it stands dropping too far down when the hand is in the upper half is a a total death sentence
:D Cute, clever, fun! I love popping balloons--always a good time! The cloud with an umbrella seemed right, not sure why. The jumping controls were snapping and satisfying, the increasing difficulty with the ascending clock hand was great! Very challenging to meet the quotas, but not impossible! It seems to have deviated a bit from "10 seconds", but it's obvious how it got there. Nice game!
Cute design and very innovative idea! Nice entry!
I like pixels. :-)
This is a fabulous game. I love the graphics, I love the subtlety of the sound effects, I love how the difficulty curve is dictated by the clock position. Great job!
Fun game! Great entry for the comp Congratulations! It would be nice to have some way to recover, maybe bouncing higher if I can time my jump when colliding with the balloon.
Delightful.
The nuance of the difficulty curve as the hand spins around is really something interesting. I had to really fight the urge to get more aggressive about popping lower balloons when the hand is high at the end, as I get into a groove of being able to dip down pretty low. Interestingly, patience seems to be a much better approach for what *feels* like more of a panic game. You can often grab all the balloons in a wave if you pause and think before jumping.
I did find myself *really* craving a pkenney signature **_cOmBo mEtEr_**. I can pop all the balloons now, but can I score mega points by popping everything in a wave in one jump? I can only guess. The other thing I tried a few different times was timing jumps on the balloons to launch higher. I don't think the game _needs_ any more, but I thought there might be a mechanic I was missing.
Anyway, really enjoyed my time with this one, and as usual, it's a tight and challenging piece. Something about the tick tock sound just gives this game a unique feel. Neat entry, thanks for sharing!

@pkenney lol I came to your page to review your LD52 submission and ended up on this one, which I guess was the last compo. I'll check out the latest one next! xD
