@kwuwky Thanks! Yeah, I assumed discover ability would be pretty hard for folks on this one! Can you tell me, what was _most_ confusing for you? Finding what/where the issue was, or actually performing the mini-game to fix the issue? (I suspect both might be a bit hard to figure out!)
The rainy window, old radio and cluttered workbench give this a nice repair-shop feel. I like the choice to make fixing old things the whole game. A small visual hint for the first repair could help introduce the interactions without giving everything away.
If you have a moment, I'd appreciate a rating on my latest game, [Robot Workshop](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/60/trashfight).
Wow, what a lovely game! We came up with a similar idea for a game in our concept phase, but ended up doing something else. But this is exactly what I imagined for a concept like this! Absolutely loved it, the execution was done so well! One of the reasons we didn't go for a game like this, is because we struggled to come up with fun mechanics for taking stuff apart, and you guys came up with such fun and unique gameplay! Holding something in place while the glue dries and turning the screwdrivers in the right way was the perfect little minigame it needed. And on top of that a lot of personality in the environment, the sounds and animations. And a perfect scope and playtime length! This is the first game of the jam I've rated 5 stars, great job guys!!
(For a moment, when the radio started bugging and the bird flew at the window, I was worried it was about to turn into an unexpected horror game π )
Maybe I been playing too many horror games this month, but this seems like it could make a really good horror game. Love all the little details: the birds, the radio breaking, the little yellow outlines to help the player out. GGs.
I enjoyed the minigames the notes were funny to read and I had a great time playing, wasn't sure how to not strip the flat head screws and took me a min to see the rag but overall nice job!
Interesting idea! Maybe the drawers could be a little different to distinguish them from the background? I was confused at first about the red numbers too. I eventually figured out that they were subtracting from the score, but at first I wondered if maybe they were subtracting health and the goal was to "kill" the problem by removing its health, haha. Good atmosphere!
Nice game! I like minigames for different tools. And i like the idea of fixing radio after hitting it twice.
Such an adorable game! π
I absolutely love every aspect of it: all the light sighs main character makes while repairing, the fact that the radio keeps breaking, the sad little bird, that picks from the bushes after bumping into the window π
For some reason I haven't been able to get the hang of flathead screwdriver - I kept stripping all the screws with it. But that didn't stop from fixing all of the things the game thrown at me! π
@annie-owl @ty-victorson Ah, thanks, I should've added one more overlay indicator for the flathead, I guess (it was the first minigame I added)! The idea--from much frustrated personal experience...--is that if you don't have the flathead centered in the screwhead, it can slip out the ends, and while you're twisting, the screw tip can slip one way or the other, so you have to keep dragging a bit to reposition it.
I think I spent more time trying to see which tools would "turn off" the radio by any means necessary than fixing things. The screwdrivers seem tricky to master - even putting the yellow one away seems oddly tricky. Interestingly done though!
I think I'm a bad guy who repairs stuff, used hammer quite a lot :) But it was fun! Liked the game and how you covered the theme!
That was fun! Liked the little notes, but I felt like it could use a little more hints because I couldn't get all of the stuff to work π π
This is perfection, I thought about doing this and something similar became a side minigame in our game. Thanks for making a proper repair game. The graphics are lovely and the mechanics are packaged well. The atmosphere is so good. Using the tools and the graphical representation of what you are aiming and such didn't always feel perfect so that could be something to fine tune and improve. Other than that, slowly make it more complex and add story and such. Amazing work. GG
I managed to beat the game. I didn't quite understand how the screwdriver works, I kept getting red numbers all the time. I think the greatest flaw is that the use of tools is confusing and that it is not intuitive which tool to use for any given appliance in some cases, for example, I have no idea what the green thing was. The hand-holding with the yellow outlines does not help much. Yes, whoever published that manual needs to be fired indeed. Other than that the music, the graphics and the soviet/eastern bloc feel and the crow in the background are pretty cool.
