Nice little game, would be nice to have an indicator that you're doing damage to the spaceship. I had no clue if my bullets were doing anything at first.

Nice little game, would be nice to have an indicator that you're doing damage to the spaceship. I had no clue if my bullets were doing anything at first.
I think this might be unfinished based on the Itch description and the gameplay (nothing seems to happen if I die?), but even despite that I really like it: it feels great, very juicy, and I found myself playing it for a few minutes despite not having a goal just because it felt good. I really like the idea of a bullet-hell with only one huge persistent boss, too. Would love to see this game get fleshed out in the new Extra category!
Okay, so first things first, I love the naming. Very funny. Also don't feel bad about not having much time, this game is a solid entry. I enjoyed it a lot, and I feel that the combination of the art/sound with the fast paced dodge gameplay works well. I can't seem to complete the game though I did make it to when there were a bunch of rocks around the inevitable, died right after though. So sad. The theme is made to good use here as well, with the story being about delaying a ship. Overall, very cool, I found my blood pumping a surprising amount while playing.
I agree with the other commenters - I think the length will have to limit my rating, but I found the game enjoyable and I can tell you could have made something excellent if you'd had the time to.
Cute little game - maybe it would be neat if the firing was automatic, or maybe the player's ship could be immobile while firing as a drawback
I really enjoyed the camera shake and sound effect/visuals for the bullets. Had a really good feel to it all. I wish there was a score system so I could see how far I was getting, but overall a great game!
@Kazuren Thank you! Yeah, I had a sound effect in there but it was just too distracting and didn't really work well
@vgel Thank you! It's not unfinished, more like not it's full potential. I just didn't have alot of time during the weekend to work on it. I probably should've added a health bar to the boss, because the boss actually does explode after you do 200 damage XD
@circle Thank you so much! It's always great to hear someone loved your game  That's so sad! Yeah you died during the ending cutscene
@nathanoc Thank you! Yeah, I really had to cut the game short
@Yokin Thanks! Those are interesting ideas! I might implement them in an update ;)
@Nima Thanks! Yeah, I kinda forgot to add that
@eboatwright Ah, I see! Went back and was able to beat the boss after a few tries (I am pretty bad at bullet hell games :-) )
@vgel Awesome! Thanks for playing :)
Fun little game
@jesse-martin Thanks! :)
:) Short and sweet! This was very fun to play. The fast-paced feel was good, and it still wasn't too difficult to get through. The music is solid, and the sounds are good. It could obviously use a little more variety and length, but overall nice game!
@ukulelefury Thank you! Yeah, the music was made by Gruber. Make sure to check him out on YouTube! Yeah, I didn't have much time to work on the game, but I might come back and add more polish, and variety :)
Nice movement to the ship, it's always good to see some shmups in Ludum Dare. Nice particle effects on the shot and it's always good to hear Gruber's music :)
Really great game. Well executed!
Kudos for not using an engine. It's also nice to see a tate shmup.
My main complaint is the screenshake, it hurts readability. It's better to keep that for big explosions.
@extar Thank you! Yeah I worked hard on making alot of juicy effects  Yeah, Gruber's music is amazing!
@Miime Thank you! :smile:
@sentmoraap Thanks! Oh man, if I update this game I'll have to tone it down a bit
Nice! Movement feels really good, and I like the art/sound. You could almost just remove "space to shoot" and have the weapon fire automatically - there's really no reason to let up at all!
Cool game, its pretty fun, it has a lot of potential to be a mobile game if the shooting was automatic (as many people suggested above). Even though you didn't have a lot of time, its still a pretty nice game with good pixel art and great music. Good Job!
Nice 8 bit vibe !
( And very nice choice of music! )
And kudos for not using a third-party game engine : it's always cool to see that some of us are still capable of writing native programs :D
@saintchristopher777 Thank you! Yeah, I've had someone else say that. I think I will probably add that if I update this game
@moooks Thanks! Yeah, that would be interesting! Yup! The music was made by Gruber (who you can find on YouTube )
@ace17 Thanks! Yeah, I love Gruber's PICO-8 music :) Thanks you! Yeah I've worked alot on my project structure in Rust, and *really* thanks to not-fl3 on Github for making Macroquad
Very nice shoot-em-up game.
I realllly love the music and the concept of shooting the enemy ship to progress in the game. Graphics all fit nicely to your game.
Maybe make the items you are to dodge a bit bigger or possibly make the background dimmer. They are competing with each other visually and are a little painful to the eyes. Possibly add an epilepsy warning on your game due to it being very light/dark intensive Maybe include a health bar for the ship you are shooting or a score so it gives you the feeling like you are getting somewhere even though inevitably you aren't lol
Overall really liked this one and I hope you get that last play in soon!
Scoreboard and more visual feedback and polish. Still real fun old school arcadey feel with responsive controls and crisp clean look and feel.
Hey fellow rustacean :crab:
the enemy bullets were a bit hard to see, otherwise nicely done!
Very short game but you did say you did not have a lot of time to make it so I won't judge that too heavily. I really liked the graphics and audio but I think you could have added a bit more variety and tried to fit the theme a little better than just naming the ship "the inevitable". Good entry and it appears you achieved what you set out to do so good job
had a lot of fun playing, nice game
The feel was nailed and the game looked and sounded nice. My biggest issue was with the faster star background. They moved at a similar pace to the enemy bullets, so they became much harder to see. On top of that the patterns weren't that varied. For the time it was made though, good job.
I am utterly awful at this. However, it is a great game. The controls feel tight, the music is perfect and the graphics are really good. I did find it a bit difficult to distinguish the mines/bullets and feel like they could have been a bit more obvious (just a colour that stands out more would be enough).
Overall, great work especially considering you had such little time.
It takes almost 5 times to beat the ship. The fighting feedbacks feel good.
@vixenmink Thank you! Yeah, if I update this game I'll add more variety, more polish, more attacks for the enemy and fix up a few things  Yeah the music was made by Gruber who you can find on YouTube. He makes really great music, and plays piano really well
@marvalgames Thank you! Yeah, if I update this game, I'm gonna fix alot of things
@kuviman Ayy! :crab: :crab: Thanks! Yeah, I'm gonna make those sprites bigger
@cakts Thank you! Yeah, I'm definitely gonna polish up the intro screen, and add more attacks for the boss and probably a little more backstory
@poppy-entertainment Thank you! :smile:
@LoHii Thank you! Ohh yeah that probably caused alot of problems with people :grimacing: oops lol. I'll definitely make them a little dimmer and slower in the update
@human-writes-code Thank you! Yeah, I know alot of people that aren't great with bullet hells  Yeah, I'm going to make the stars a little dimmer, and the projectiles a little bigger in the update
@zyang Thanks! Good job for finishing
Good game! I like the controls, they are responsive and the music and graphics are very good. The game is very fun! And the name of the game couldn't be more appropriate to the theme! LOL!
@milq Thank you so much! I'm very glad you liked it
Cool game! It somehow made me feel like I was playing a rythm game with that funky beat in the background. Nice work! :D
@koningmathijs Thank you! Yeah Gruber makes awesome music!
I agree with @human-writes-code that the stars in the background were very confusing with the bullets from the enemy and player. Other than that, was actually really fun! Controls are great. Short but fun! Which is understandable for a game jam game. Well done!
@ratface Yeah, I'm going to change that in an update  Thank you!
