It was a bit difficult to figure out, but the gameplay is unusual
A very original game, the modeling process during forging was really satisfying to handle. There were just a few times when I’d drop weapons near the smelter they’d fall into the void, but aside from that, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the movement and music are cool!
I've always wanted to forge things. In fact I have a 110 lbs anvil I bought at harbor freight with the hopes of one day banging some leaf springs into some blades. So I'm glad to have this cool game to allow me to scratch the itch until that one day comes. I've got the kaowool, sounds I need to get some satanite next. I did struggle with knowing when to push e vs f.
The mechanics took a little while to get used to, but forging weapons felt great.
I really like the calm music, the orc and how you can shape the weapons, reminds me of Bladesong.
Good game!
The game has a great concept, but it feels quite unfinished, especially when it comes to basic instructions and UI layout. The quest scroll on the left blocks the interaction buttons underneath, and the game doesn't clearly explain the order of tasks or the workflow. Hope to see a more polished version next time!
The metal shaping mechanics are something I've longed for and are genuinely well done!! However, walking (etc) controls feel quite janky I kept having issues with the physics / objects would just fall through the floor which kinda unfortunately made it incompletable(?) (I would also like a way to pinch into the sides of a block made by the [1] tool to thin out the thing) -- Amazing work nonetheless!!
I find this game pretty cool, though i just ended up spamming everything i could, as i didn't understand if im doing anything right or wrong. I find it pretty similar other games i forgot names of, but still, it was a fun experience
I think I ran out of metal trying everything out!
It took me a lot of attempts to figure out how everything worked, thanks for the information on the description (even tough it is quite enough). Probably having only one button for interaction would have been more intuitive. Also, it took me a while to understand that I was supposed to use the mouse x) But that may just be a me problem.
The idea is pretty cool, a polish version of this entry could make for a good game.
The mood is well put together, I had a great time trying it!
The mechanics took a little while to get used to, but forging weapons felt great.
I really enjoyed the concept of fulfilling specific commissions, trying to translate a drawing into a usable blade was such a unique goal. The atmosphere you've created around the blacksmith's shop gives the game a wonderfully industrious feel!
I really need a guide for this game.
I like that the tools change the shape of the blade rather than just filling a crafting meter. Widening, sharpening and punching the metal leaves room for some very questionable swords. A first commission that walks through the stations could help introduce the E/F interactions.
If you have a moment, I'd appreciate a rating on my latest game, [Robot Workshop](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/60/trashfight).
Fun idea, but it needs more purpose
The game is good, and the blacksmith concept is really charming. Crafting and forging feel satisfying, and the setup has a lot of personality. The main thing missing is a sense of meaning. There’s no real story or goal pulling you forward, so after a while it’s hard to tell why you’re doing what you’re doing. A bit of narrative, or even a simple progression goal, would go a long way. Definitely worth playing, and I’d love to see where the developer takes it.
Entertaining smithing in a cozy atmosphere. Maybe the commissions needed to be exact but I was a bit sad I couldn't return any of my creations for a tiny bit of coin.
Well done!
Shaping the metal with the hammer, fuller and puncher is a really original mechanic, and the commissions with design drawings give it a nice goal. The calm music and the orc blacksmith set a cozy mood. Items falling through the floor near the smelter hurt a bit, but the forging itself is great. Really cool entry.
Lil bit rough around the edges, I think putting a little more focus on mouse controls would make it a bit more intuitive. But regardless, I love what you put together here, and I'd love to see a bigger version of this game.
A very charming game. Thanks for the chance to play as an orc blacksmith. It would be interesting to see how the forge develops further.
Cool concept, love playing as an orc blacksmith. But man it's hard to make swords! I couldn't get more iron for some reason and I also managed to drop a sword I made down through the environment and it was gone forever :(
It would be great if there were a tutorial for beginners—it’s actually quite challenging. Maybe it’s just my perfectionism, but by the time the iron cools down, I’ve never managed to get it into the shape required by the order.
Beatifull game, amazing 3d artwork. It's screaming to be first person imho, even for it's a little hard to walk room as is. The smith variance is really unique for a 72 hours game, totally amazing.
The sword forging itself is really creative, but the game needs much clearer feedback and guidance. Even just showing me what I’m actually interacting with when I press E would help.
Great game! The commission scrolls with weapon sketches make a charming goal, and the warm, torch-lit low-poly workshop looks lovely. Congratulations for the game!
Fun game! I managed to fulfill all the customer requests, I got 138 gold for it, not sure if that also scales how true-to-form it is. I think I took some liberties with the bronze and silver requests, but I nailed the gold one, that one was perfect. This one was the first attempt on the silver one (not sure why it's bronze as well, clearly there were mistakes made):
But yeah, very cool! It's fun racing against the clock until it cools down to get the right shape (but I also found the reheating, I thought that was nice and intuitive in the stove). The little blacksmith shop itself feels very cozy, I like how everything looks. The medieval tune fits perfectly as well. Very well done, great job!
:) This was fun! I really like your shaping mechanic. It felt right, and you could do all the important bits. The game-loop is designed well too. But I did keep dropping things through the world by accident! Nice models!
Surprisingly deep smithing mechanics you got there :) Very fun to play around the with tools and trying to match the shape of the commissions. I might not have followed the required designs all to close though 🙈 but that didn't stop me melting some more ores and create new swords :) Very cool game, congrats! :)
Really cool little game! I had a lot of fun with the smithing mechanic, it took a while to figure out the different modes/controls, but I loved how expressive the sword shapes can be!
Cool game, but I thought there would be more than 3 commissions unless I'm missing something. Enjoyed the sounds and atmosphere. Would be cool if you got a percentage on how well you matched to the original commission and a cool animation or something played but that's for future work.
A really interesting set of smithing mechanics, it was a little counter intuitive at first and could probably use some more feedback onthe 1-3 stuff UI maybe. It took some back and forth reading the instructions and playing to figure it out, but ultimately this is really fun kinda reminds me of the smithing system in Vintage Story to an extent, it was a challenge getting the order right and not to let it cool too fast.
