You only have the source code linked. Do you want us to compile the game ourselves?
@s3rl @billnotic sorry this is my first time submitting and didn't understand what I needed to upload. The GDevelop project folder and the games installer are both in the OverHordeFiles.rar archive. Next time I'll make sure to submit a web version as well so people won't have to install.
@stephanttm I think you might be able to do that even after submission ends so long as you don't edit your code but I don't know for sure.
I enjoyed this game! I like how you threw in rogue lite elements in such a short time. Once I figured out how to place blocking boxes (and not shoot my own base) I really started to get the hang of it. Good Job!
This is a nice submission for your first time!
With GDevelop, you could also export for web and allow people to play it right on the game's itch.io page.
I wish there was a web link (you might still be able to add one, not sure 100%) but overall a nice game! It was fun once I figured out how to play. Great job
Nice entry, good job! Extra points for daring to use a different engine than Unity :id:
PS: I'm tweeting about the games I play from this jam, here is this one: https://twitter.com/TheAntonSem/status/1511062560954589187
Fun game! Web build worked great, though the resolution was a little small and difficult to see. If you could fix that, it'd be a large improvement
I liked the game a lot. The shooting by using the mouse to aim is excellent. Thanks for taking the time to make the game
An interesting little game, characters remind me of puffin forest youtuber's characters. Really well done!
I liked the little waddle walking animation. Also the music slapped hard. This was a fun little game.
A fun little game! I like the in game instructions, but I want to mention to anyone playing out that scrap and upgrades persist between runs. I didn't realize this at first and was kinda confused until I paid more attention.
This was a nice little game. The combat mechanics are simple but satisfying, and it is especially satisfying to upgrade the firing speed all three levels; each level gives a substantive improvement.
Interestingly, it seems like I do worse when I try to use the build mechanics than when I simply build nothing and kill enemies as they spawn. The Cover building does seem potentially powerful when used correctly, but when I build them it seems I obstruct my own movement significantly enough that I do worse overall.
I do think the building UI makes the building mechanics slightly worse, as you have to be somewhat precise with where you place them, and there's no indication that you're currently trying to build somewhere invalid. Moreover, aiming the direction of the building is strangely awkward--I think it's because, if I have the building facing in the correct direction but not in the exact spot I want it, then repositioning will change the angle.
Perhaps it would be better if buildings could be positioned with the mouse, given that the mouse would solve most of the precision problems. However, I'm not sure how the angle would be computed in that case. In any case, I think better placement UI could be a major improvement to the building mechanics.
The game was still very fun to play through and unlock all the upgrades in even though I couldn't master the building mechanics. It was neat to try different strategies and to figure out that I'm best at just plain combat. So overall, very nice job.
I'm an obvious fan of screen shakes with guns. I used them in my game as well. I think you could have used the screen shake whenever the gun was fired and then had some different visual effect when something was hit.
The gameplay itself is fairly simple and easy to get into, which is great! The simple visual style was also endearing.
Pretty complete game! Really enjoyed it overall, just wished to be able to see the enemies coming from a bit more far away, it got a bit hard to try and face all of them
At first I was losing because I was shooting the generator myself :D dont know if that is supposed to be a feature. I really liked the controls, the graphics style is a bit all over the place imo but its ok, sound and effects are nice. A big plus is the upgrade system, that can take some time to implement so kudos for that. Very nice entry!
Nice shooter game. I like the mix of building and shooting, but I think the game should be paused then building or there should be a break in incoming enemies sometimes, so that player has time to build. Anyway, nice job with the game.
