Very cool concept, love the art and I think I melted my brain :D !

Plus the game is quite polished for such a short period congratulation!

I really enjoyed the game!! I found it fun and creative! I played in NIGHTMARE mode! Everything worked perfectly, and I also found the artwork adorable!! Congratulations on the game!

zubspace 2023-10-03 07:19

@dekajoo Thank you so much! Sorry for melting your brain  Yeah it gets frantic after a while. My map always looks like a mess after a few minutes..

@francisco-lucas Thanks for your message! I'm glad everything worked and Kudos for playing Nightmare mode! :crown:

anton4ik-dev 2023-10-03 19:49

Really good and funny I liked it so much thank you guys

posshydra 2023-10-03 19:52

very clever idea

shaked-lotan 2023-10-03 19:53

A really cute game! Took me some time to understand the concept of wall-ground-hole, but the tutorial did a pretty good job of it. Also, as I just got into Tetris a few weeks ago - I appreciate the Tetris reference :) If this was just a bit more polished, I think it might have been a great hit - great job!

sg-goennung 2023-10-03 19:54

Wow, creative idea and nice implementation. I like it, that the game is very polished and provides settings and different difficulty level.s

kiv 2023-10-03 19:54

I like this mixture of mechanics, overall it's really funny game!

thomas-volpato 2023-10-03 19:55

nice game, I miss only more levels =D

akitl 2023-10-03 19:57

fun idea, but when the phantome stop to seek me, not other one gone so , no new danger

doommustard 2023-10-03 19:58

I like it, the idea of placing blocks to limit the play space, but also that being the only way to defeat enemies is inspired, fits the theme really well.

minjutin 2023-10-03 20:00

I actually liked the tutorial more than the actual game, but I usually prefer having clear levels so that's not a surprise. An interesting idea! A fun fact: In Finnish, the mage's name Lima means "Slime"

squiggelsquirrel 2023-10-03 20:07

Very well implemented, but I did find the controls of mouse-wheel and right-click quite tricky to get the hang of. I think that left-click for raise/add and right-click for lower/delete would have been more intuitive and easier to get the hang of.

adam-konig 2023-10-03 20:14

Fun entry! Your tutorial was super helpful. Then when I got to the main game I wasn't sure if there was anything stopping me from just spamming the build/destroy button so I jsut went to town trying to block in as many enemies as possible. Really fun time great work!

zubspace 2023-10-03 20:43

@shaked-lotan Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, I love to combine old games with new mechanics. I had a lot more ideas, but unfortunately time runs by so fast..

@thomas-volpato Thank you! Oh yeah, different kinds of levels would definitely be fun! But I did not have time enough to experiment...

@minjutin Thanks! Yes the tutorial feels like a game of its own! Glad you enjoyed it. I usually don't make one, but I learned from my mistakes  Thanks for the finnish lesson! My partner has some finnish books about weaving and stuff and I think it's probably the funniest language you could think of, lol!

@squiggelsquirrel Thank you for the feedback. Yeah I thought about it, maybe it would have been easier to use. But it comes with other problems. Because many times you are able to raise the ground, but not lower it or vice versa, and it's hard to indicated that well. I also added the arrow-indicators very early on, so I just kept using right click for toggling.

@adam-konig Yeah, the main game came a bit short. Had so many ideas, like different level layouts, more enemies and pickups and stuff, but well, I always run out of time... Thanks for playing!

joymagine 2023-10-03 21:29

this game is really cool, at first i didnt realize u could kill the dudes i just tried to block em in..

the ghosts is cool.. iam thinking should be 2 different kinds of ghosts, common ones u can kill and then like other ones you cant kill

cool idea for a game

zubspace 2023-10-04 05:45

@joymagine Thank you for the feedback! I wanted to add a lot more monsters. but time was against it.. Before I added the ghost I realized, that you were able to cave yourself in, making you invulnerable. So I had to add a monster which can pass through walls. Two types of ghosts are definitely an interesting idea though!

benisu 2023-10-05 05:58

It's an interesting concept, but I think there's 2 things I would have liked. 1) is a little more explanation on when my block is going to be a wall and when it's going to be a hole, and 2) is for enemies to not spawn on a hole or in areas where it's impossible to place a block, because they either insta-die or just get stuck forever.

Nevertheless, again, it's an interesting idea, and I did have quite a bit of fun running around and strategizing placements!

anya-voinova 2023-10-06 14:51

I liked it) But it’s not convenient to run around and build platforms.

martin-bousquet 2023-10-06 23:56

The concept is good, I like that you quickly learn how to imprison or kill enemies with your blocks, but you also learn how to undo your actions. Good work.

simon-rahnasto 2023-10-07 19:33

I'm genuinely amazed by this "Tetris clone". I have never played a Tetris game that is so unlike Tetris, while still maintaining certain parts of it.

The gameplay was truly innovative, and what caught me off guard was the surprising amount of decisions to make during gameplay. The dynamics of filling, removing, and rotating added a layer of depth and made each move a thoughtful choice... that you had to make while under the stress of imminent death. It also fit the theme like a glove, both actions limit the space you are in, but have the ability to cancel each other out.

It's so funny that it's optimal to connect the blocks, just like in tetris, in order to more easily negate them with the opposite ability.

Being a fan of score attack games, I loved the fact that there is a number you can increase. I am a simple man, I see number, I make number go up.

Oh and here is my result:

Overall this game is a fantastic and innovative spin on Tetris, keeping the essence while making a completely different type of game. Kudos for creating such an engaging and fun experience!

zubspace 2023-10-07 20:06

@simon-rahnasto Wow, thanks for your great review! Your words explain the idea behind this game better than I every could. Kudos to the high score! You really did well! :trophy:

quoclon 2023-10-07 20:13

Nice. I loved the overall aesthetic, from the menu to gameplay. The puzzle solving grew in difficult gradually (via tutorial), though I found the Snake section a little too difficult (and I gave up, maybe too early). Nice work for a 48 hour game jam! Cheers :)

snesgaard 2023-10-14 16:53

Took me a while to realize you could kill enemies by placing blocks on them. Very innovate and fun game.

henk 2023-10-14 17:49

Fantastic idea, I feel like the game incentivizes you to do the _opposite_ of what you have to do in tetris: keep the blocks/holes spaced out from one another so you can recognize their shapes when you're given an opportunity to convert them back to flat land.

I think I found an exploit, though:

My strategy:

limitris_exploit.png

The ghosts move slowly enough that you can just kite them around in the middle :P.

lincolnsalles 2023-10-20 17:07

There is an innovation here, the mechanics are different, it mixes some genres. I worried about the ghosts but they disappear over time, good. I ended up dying at some point, but I found it interesting.
