The highest I delivered was 90, played on fair. Great entry! Solid variation on the match 3 genre, that brought a ton of extra challenge to the game. I'd definitely be curious to know how you're controlling the generation of dinos for the different difficulty levels.

cobear25 2023-05-02 12:42

@bloodyaugust It's very simple actually. For hard there are 6 different dino types, fair has 5, and easy has 4. And the generation is the same for each, it just creates a random board until there are no matches, then displays the visuals.

It is quite simple but I really loved the aesthetic!

patrick-abernathy 2023-05-02 20:42

This was really neat to play. I kind of like the fact you hit the delivery button so the board is not changing all the time. It adds a new layer of depth to the match 3 genre.

Simple but elegant. I agree that the the matching not happening till the even is a positive feature. Changes the type of game of a normal match-3 to something else. Good job :)

Delivered 97 dinos. Solid perfomance for Compo. At first felt dumb because I didn't get the rules but then enjoyed it a lot) Random generation plays against us very often, mb it would be cool to firstly analize cells and then generate required list. Mb this already done and I'm just a bad player :D

I love dinosaurs, so I had to play this game. I expected a typical match-3 game, but the twist with pressing the button was simple but a good variation from the genre. Also sleeping dinos graphics are so cute

Baby Dino Delivery by Cody Mace - Opera.jpg

A nice match-3 game that pushes it somewhat elegantly into the realm of the puzzle game. I wish the decision was taken further: maybe we could "deliver" at any points to progressively trigger falls and chain reactions at intentionally selected points, accumulate moves to spend in difficult situation, and move blocks in an intentional fashion without needing to match-3 when moving them. It feels like quite a few situations are unsolvable, and it's rather frustrating. I had fun though, and enjoyed my time with it a lot. The baby dinosaurs are absolutely adorable and the vibe is really cute.

Very cute art style. I also love that you can choose the difficulty or "refresh" the board when there is no possible match left.

Nice game!

Extremely cute graphics and cool sound design (silly sounds from your mouth? extremely cute). I like the limitation of movements paired with base difficulty - the game makes you think and carefully choose every move (so it is not grindy like many match 3 games I've played before). On the other hand I think the game would benefit from some wider explanation of the rules (I think I got them after a few minutes, so it is a minor issue). The biggest issue I saw here is that sometimes the game is unwinnable due to random generation of the levels.

I love the cute baby dinos. I did wish that the game over flag was not being unable to deliver babies but rather cause you ran out of moves. xD

floralvikings 2023-05-04 17:05

Nice! Played for a good 10 minutes without realizing

red-dino 2023-05-04 17:23

I'm in this game and I like it! I haven't played too many match-3 games and this one was really fun. :) The music was especially great.

weirdbitgames 2023-05-04 18:25

This is so cute and cool! I like the fancy music too, oh and the sound effects, did you make them yourself? I want to make a connect-3 style game but I couldn't think of a way to make it fit the theme "delivery", you did though, amazing!

ben-toosey 2023-05-04 19:17

Fun game, although sometimes I would simply get unlucky and there not be any way to fulfil a request... I really liked the audio and visuals too though, very cute

cobear25 2023-05-04 20:01

@weirdbitgames Thanks so much! Yeah, the sounds were all from my mouth except for the "extra move" sound which was made in garageband. I had originally planned for it to match the theme even more with a pterosaur swooping in to pick up and deliver the babies like a stork, but there just wasn't enough time to get that in.

cobear25 2023-05-04 20:02

@ben-toosey Thanks! And yeah, that's the biggest issue for sure. Once the rating is over I'll probably add some sort of mechanic to make it more fair. Like letting you shuffle the requirements or have lives.

perfectsquare 2023-05-04 20:14

Cute little dinos! I liked the wiggle animations, they gave the game a lot more personality. In terms of mechanics, it was great that you experiemented outside the standard match-3 formula. I found that the extra move mechanic added a lot of depth/strategy to trying to maximize your points while still deliverying the required dinos.

darchankaen 2023-05-16 17:30

Nice game, very cute art ans sound. And dinos is always win. =) Good job!

bluedandelion 2023-05-16 18:49

This game has a very cute astethic, I lke it :) Also great music.

milq 2023-05-16 21:01

Wow, awesome game, so much fun! And finally I find an upload to itch.io as it deserves! I, too, love matching colors and sizes, and that takes attention to detail. I love the game of matching three colors, the mood and theme is very good, have you thought about adding time? It would give it a very interesting touch. Very good game and spectacular to be done in 48 hours!

stevie257 2023-05-16 22:01

A really solid entry, it's like if Tetris was a connect 3 game. The mechanics also allow for a surprising amount of strategy. Great work!

papaver 2023-05-17 00:22

Nice entry! I like the 3-move twist. I got to 165 in Hard mode, and 276 in Fair mode.

Sometimes a goal seemed unreachable and also unclear: at some point I needed 3x 3 blue dinos, but there were only 8 blue dinos in my game. So I was wondering how to do that, but then I noticed that if two goals are the same, they both get crossed out after one match. A goal of matching 5 dinos seemed quite impossible most of the times.

Cool music!

haymakercoding 2023-05-17 00:55

cute game!

jordantanner 2023-05-17 04:45

This was really relaxing and enjoyable to play. Nice & simple polish for the dino animations and when dinos get "delivered." Really impressive compo entry, nice work!

python-b5 2023-05-17 06:38

I played on Hard, my best was 87 deliveries.

This is a cool twist on match-3 games! Felt super polished to play and I had a lot of fun with it. Nice work :)
