I took me way too long to get the reference in the graphics
It seems like sometimes you can also get 0 units of resource? This is a bit confusing when you occasionally here no sound after clicking. I feel like the mechanic doesn't really work that well because: - You always have to pump is you are below 91, so you are just smashing that button - before you reach 91 often times red alredy blew up - If you reach 91, most of the time red is far below 90. So if red eventually reaches >90, the value is basically a uniform distribution on 91-100, so the current exact value of red doesn't really matter
I don't know how one can solve this, allowing a player to pump after they have stopped for a round would just resolve in the player pumping while their score is below the opponents one
@oadt After I've submitted, I heard comments like "100 is a bit too high" and recently I kinda agree but it would not be fair to change it after submission. So, yeah.
Getting 0 resource might be a bug I couldn't be able to catch, sorry about that.
After 90, red rolls for a risk assessment. So it won't always be the same, it depends on the current state of the game. Even for identical states, sometimes red stops but sometimes it decides to go aggressive and end up exploding or getting even more resources.
Thanks for the review!
Nice take on Blackjack here. I do think there are a lot of avenues left unexplored by your entry to make it a bit more... engaging. As it was, I think it missed the fun factor for me. But you had a complete entry in 48 hours, with nice sounds and graphics, and that on its own is quite an accomplishment. Well done! :tada:
@bloodyaugust thank you for your kind words, exploring more avenues is actually a good idea! Phaser3 was brand new for me, my main aim was to finish anything with Phaser3 and I kinda used Compo for this aim :grimacing:
This cover image gives me mild trypophobia triggers. :'(
Nice little press your luck game : ) Would need some things to spice it up but all in all a cool take on the theme with potential to build on!
graphics look a little bit... sussy. Besides that congrats on the game!
This game is stress, I love it, early game is just mindless pumping tho, late game is the question "should I push my luck or no?"
Simple yet addictive! Truly, it awakens all my capitalist and competitive interests! Honestly, a two-player version would be interesting and seems like it could be easily implemented. I'm eager to play it with a friend with whom I am competitive! Great game!
That's gambling  It's pretty much blackjack in disguise  Not the most entertaining game for my like, but I can see this having its own place for people that like to try their luck.
Nice push your luck style game. The audio pings are really good. Takes a bit too long to get to the "end game".
- First I thought it's 100 collective resources, but then it turns out to be separate, then I spam pump for a minute, red gets exactly 100 and my only option is to match or explode, so I explode. - I didn't feel any agency, like my input doesn't matter and I have no choices to make and it's just random if I win or not. Looking at the comments people seem to differ, maybe it depends on understanding probability, for me it's a simple question of, if vale is under (desired_value - (max_increment-min_increment)/2) you pump, otherwise you don't, only one choice made before the game even starts (which technically you learn by playing the game, so not necessarily on your first playthrough).
Clean graphics. The game feels a bit bland, just spamming the pump button until you reach the 90. After that it's pretty much a gamble. Felt a bit like black jack (which has obviously a lot more strategy involved) just hitting card after card hoping the dealer busts. Nicely done anyway.
@ellaris red getting 100 on your first try is pure bad luck unfortunately. your input actually does matter; if you got 90+, next pump might explode you or get you a bit closer to 100, which is the limit. same thing applies to the red and red takes the risk or not, heuristically, after 90+.
90+ is a bit too high tho, I agree on that. I will adjust it after the event.
@dhargan I'm not convinced, I think the game can easily be solved using mathematics, and I believe the magic number is 95. I feel like its like watching a coin flipped 100 times to see the ratio of heads to tails, can be interesting to look at, but flipping the coin is pretty boring, and you know if you flip it enough times you will get 50:50.
Nice simple game. I agree with others that 100 is a bit high, would be better with only 1 or two clicks before you have to decide to stop or not.
A good simple idea. One thing I didn't understand is that whenever I click on stop the red always passes me, even if it's much lower
I tried it a bit of times and finally got to beat that red company! Screenshot_2023-10-12_21-45-13.png
