I love this game. the mechanics are well-thought out, the art is stellar, the songs are incredible. Deserves more than a 5/5.

Feels and plays like a really polished game. Can see this going up on the Appstore right away! The only things that annoyed me a bit were that the beat seemed of by a small margin, which gave me the need to look at the bar all the time instead of feeling the beat.

Great job, you've made a lovely game!

A really nice, polished game. Love the idea, and execution. Very good music and overall sound effects. Great job!

Yet, I will pick out some things I didn't like:

What is the point of having separate missions and time trials? I would be much more happy if there were just the two tracks, each with medals you can earn.

I think the game was a bit too much zoomed in to see anything useful on the track. I was looking just at the minimap whenever I wanted to see the track.

Very long respawn time. Time trial games like these absolutely need one button restart.

Also, bumping into walls was very frustrating, in the way it kind of steered me into wrong direction. I would want (and expect) them to just slow me down!

Super good atmosphere but it was a bit difficult to play

You know a game is gonna be good if it has Hyper in its title.

I guess the most important part of a (50%) rhythm game is audio and you really nailed that. I has a nice untz beat to it. I'm also a sucker for vector-style graphics, you really went the extra mile with that, I love the design of the ship and the particles. There were a lot of nice details hidden here and there too, like being able to control the ship at the title screen, I only noticed that after the fourth or so time.

One thing I would maybe note is that the beat counter and the boost arrow keys felt too far removed from each other. The main difficulty when going for the boost was - for me at least - moving my eyes away from the beat counter and the road. Though I'd take that with a grain of salt, maybe it was only me.

So yeah, the gameplay is really unique, I keep trying to think of whether I've seen something similar before, but the best I can come up with is a part in Space Channel 5, but that was hardly a racing game. A great job on all fronts.

Really nice game with a slick, simplistic art style. Nice concept - the beat counter reminds me of Crypt of the Necrodancer (which is a good thing) - although the arrow key boost mechanic threw me off a little bit. The music was fitting, and it was nice to hear multiple tracks across the missions. Great game :D

This is damn good! Nice style, good music and the controls are neat.I have only one thing about it : the boost indicator is too far to be checkable while racing. I was wondering if moving closer to the player's eye focus or giving to arrows distinct colors would have been better for readability.

Anyway, are you going to continue working on it? It'd sure make nice game with more tracks!

Woow, really nice game! I'm impressed by the main menu though :P it's awesome. The gameplay was really fun, you nailed the music sync so you can just hit spacebar to the beat (only listening) and watch the road

Congrats on the entry

Great stuff, saw this on twitter and glad that I ran into it on the games page.

I think this could be taken further into a solid indie title, would be rad if there were some more interesting rhythm patterns and ai racers to compete against.

ultrabill 2018-04-24 01:14

I really love this game. It is hard but fun and fair. The player really needs to focus on the Boost bar and the rhythm bar, but also on the boost charge and the arrow sequence to get another boost.

It's nice to play a very polished game made in this short time :)

royerson 2018-04-24 01:50

Looks and sounds really great, and the basic game of going fast with drifty physics while hitting space to the beat is really fun. I don't really get the boost charging though. I ended up cheating by just press space and up/down together to the beat, but when I tried to play it like it expects I had to take my eyes off the track and it just made the whole thing unplayable.

sleepydev 2018-04-24 03:06

This was amazing! My only complaint is that bumping into walls tends to be very hard to come back from because instead of just slowing you down, they actively make it harder for you to get back on track at all. Either way, the tracks were great and it was lots of fun to play. Thanks for making such a great game.

hypersnow 2018-04-24 04:11

Thanks for playing!

@TwinGhosts There was a bug with the rhythm, it's fixed in the newest build.

@BoltKey Originally there were supposed to be AI racers in the missions, but I ran out of time. I uploaded a new build with camera fixes, but I'd definitely like to fix the other issues you noted in a post-jam version.

@Eiyeron @Royerson Looking back, I'd like to integrate the up/down presses into the beat somehow. Though I have another project, I wouldn't mind revisiting this one and adding such mechanics in the future.

Really enjoyed this entry! Thought it was extremely well polished, and loved both the music and the art. You really found your style and nailed it, was one of those that I wanted to get better at (and did, marginally). The minimap felt a little useless because it was just a smaller view of what you saw anyway, and I felt that the track could have been a different color/background than the... not-track? Also, not sure if you intended this, but you can button mash to get boosts. Maybe a reset on incorrect arrow key press? Overall, very solid entry, and enjoyed it a lot.

very challenging and very beautiful game, very polished and fun to play. great work dude

achebit 2018-04-24 11:54

Very cool!

With some more development this could be a really great release. Bring back the good ol Wipeout days!

palsina 2018-04-24 21:22

Really liked this one. I love the multitasking boost mechanic!

drevilbrain 2018-04-24 23:41

Really awesome even if the multitasking can be difficult. Makes for a really good challenge, especially on the hard versions of the levels.

niterich 2018-04-28 21:37

I'd really like to play this game, but I'm getting a really bad glitch. When I load the game, I get a load of command line errors, which I've seen before in Godot games, but which may cause the following: whenever I start a race, the screen zooms in extremely close to the track at random intervals and I can't play properly.

bunnybreaker 2018-04-29 10:44

Really nice concept. I think you have something that could easily be fleshed out if you wanted to.

puppetmaster 2018-04-30 19:44

A really great game you have implemented there and even with an innovative idea that works very well.

There is also a moment when you forget that you actually have a vehicle to drive. Glorious!! Partly you also have the feeling you have to shoot down some red stuff.

Keep it up!!
