Fun game! It was hard to play this on my 60% keyboard (which lacks real arrow keys). That being said, a great risk/reward system and I felt genuinely excited to get upgrades, and wish I could've seen more of the game (I think I got out-scaled hard as the enemies stopped dying). Props to your artist, that's a lot of sprites to draw in 3 days.

Great game! I also like the graphics :)

Nice game. Cool idea, the combat is fun but each round could be shorter. It just feels like it takes a bit too long to get the next upgrade. I really like that art style!

First play I thought the combat didn't feel so good, I died quickly, as I upgraded things I actually quite enjoyed the combat. I liked the feeling of getting overpowered. After I upgraded the ranged dmg and lowered the cooldown I started killing things very fast, rarely I needed to pull out the melee or use the special attack. Eventually I was one-shotting everything with either, it felt good.

Authentic graphics in the game, and I also like the gameplay, I want to play this game

That was actually a lot of fun! The risk-reward consideration is nice. Upgrades in general are nice.

It took me a while to figure out the melee combat, hitboxes are a bit weird (you can use that to your advantage). Also, difficulty at the beginning is quite high, and the fact that you have to restart when you die can be frustrating. At some point I got lost about my upgrades, as they are nowhere displayed (I think?)

Still, overall, really nice game!

@cobaltjt Yeah, there is no way to display your stats yet, I didn't have time to do it :c

Really enjoyed sprites of monsters, gun feels very op

Pretty fun overall. Wish there was more enemy diversity but I like pirates so that made up for it

sleepymenace 2023-10-07 12:24

The individual rounds are a little bit too long with the current enemy diversity. Having a couple more varieties would make it feel more engaging, I think. Otherwise, solid concept - having to choose between making combat easier immediately or as a reward later. Well done!

Great entry! Pretty addictive, too!

I got heavily swarmed on my first few tries but then I found a nice little cheese with the sword. I upgraded the melee damage a couple of times so I would one-shot all the enemies and then just pump attack speed. I could simply stand in one place on the lower side of the ship and kill all enemies by swinging upwards as that hits both left and right. Nothing could touch me at that point anymore.

I eventually bought the bigger ship but that seems to be bugged? In the next level there was no booty and no ship. greedy_joey.PNG

@juutis wow man, we're very impressed about you beating the game. We really didn't think anyone will be able to buy this ship, so I decided to use this time to polish other things. Take it as an absolute victory!

zaphire 2023-10-09 14:02

Cool concept! enjoyed the fighting on the ships

This was surprisingly fun! It didn't look like much to start, but I want to point out a few design points that I think were really smart.

The cost of the upgrades seemed like a lot to start, but you started increasing the value of the barrels, which makes you feel like you can get there sooner.

The two types of weapon allowed for variation in strategy, and I always felt like I was finding ways to improve.

I think the time on the ship might be a little long, but I'm not too sure. At first, I thought that you could decrease the time and then increase the rate of everything else (enemy spawns and attacking). That would make it higher intensity for shorter periods of time. It would be something to try!

But then, it started getting a bit harder, so maybe higher intensity would be too hard :P Really, I could play this game a long time!! The art style was really cool, too.
