Excellent little game! I'm usually not a fan of pixel art, since it often feels very low effort, but this is really nice! Got that Gameboy/SNES vibe goin'. Nice difficulty ramp-up, gets real hectic real quick.

Love the art style! The controls feel a little uncomfortable. If you are keeping the button pressed everything is fine. But when you are shooting only once in a while it feels like the action is not taken up most of the time, even if a long time has passed.
Nice! Great artstyle. Works pretty well, though end screen would be nice. There is a weird shake of sprites going on.
This is the best game that I had played in this Jam, you deserve to win. 5 starts in every category. My only complaining is that I didn't had this idea for this Jam hahahaha.
This one kept me engaged for a while, really addictive! Art style was great, and it was really satisfying getting more and more upgrades as time went on. Really solid application of the theme! After a while, I had to turn the sound off because the constant enemy death noises were getting to be too much. Good idea putting the volume control in the pause menu so I didn't have to end my run! Really nice job guys, this was fun.

Very visually appealing and strong gameplay loop. Mini-bosses and an end goal would be nice additions, as I eventually powered up enough to be effectively unkillable.

There is an initial difficulty hump after which the game becomes very easy. This initial difficulty is very dependent on the upgrades you get; some upgrades are pretty much useless (like health), and others are extremely overpowered (like attack speed). Nonetheless, it is quite satisfying to get to the point where you can just blast past the enemies :D
At some point, the upgrades become meaningless (although later on I really liked movement speed, surprisingly). The game throws a lot at you once that is the case, though, so the focus shifts in an elegant way.

I encountered some funny bug in the Linux build where when I died, I wouldn't actually die but all of the rats and enemies simply piled up on me and I get getting those power ups infinitely while the time still kept going. toad.png Guess I'll become the ultimate toad cat
EDIT: I tried the windows build in wine and it seems to have the same issue in it (unless its a feature of course)
The game has quite addicting gameplay and somewhat of a roguelike feeling to it. Didn't get the powerups that crush the most rats per attack? Try again and maybe you'll get more lucky :P
Very well done game here! The game has a nice push and pull with the upgrades given, and the enemy variety was nice to see. After ten minutes the game tries to throw everything it has, but the upgrades get so powerful that is becomes possible to stay in place and shoot everywhere. It is still a fun feeling for a sort of post game!
The sound gets hard on the left ear, though it makes a sort of ambience of enemies constantly dying. I also liked that the map design was unique, and not just a big empty arena. Great work!
Random order of promotions giving you completely different build every time is what got me. I even thought maybe the game should upgrade you the lowest stat once per 100 sec or so, but then it wouldnt be the same. One time I've got a devastating build that was really slow, and second I was hopping around like crazy but had almost no firepower. That's fun!
I really like the pixel art in this one, even when the game gets chaotic and the screen is full of enemies the palette does its work and keeps everything readable

What a hidden jem! I like the graphic style and the way how it's simply working. Not sure regarding the theme, but it's somewhere there, yes? :smile:

Lovely game, feels a bit like a mini-vampire survivor. Would have been cool to be able to select which powerup you get each 10 second, but maybe that would have slowed gameplay a bit too much. Incredibly charming art style!
the art is awesome (animations, color palette) and it was a really fun to play game! it has some addiction potential :D
i was a bit surprised with the controls, and had to take some minutes to synchronise my both hands haha
and also, getting eaten by rats when losing has such a nice and funny animation hahaha

Cool game. Graphics are clear and overall presentation is good. Some tunes would have been a great addition but not necessary. I think the sounds are bit panned to one side which was slightly disturbing. It would have been nice to choose your next update, or perhaps see what is next.
