A nice and atmospheric point and click game! I really liked the art and the implementation of the theme only giving the player ten moves before resetting was pretty neat.

2022-10-04 07:56

This is an interesting game! I think, with more polish, that there's some great potential. I couldn't quite escape the room, though... The game loop a strange interpretation of the theme, but I suppose it works if you assume that every player interaction takes one second to complete and after ten actions, or seconds, the scene is reset. Very cool idea.

matt-ravenhall 2022-10-04 08:08

Really interesting idea and art style here, but I wasn't able to progress very far into it. Perhaps a hint system is needed?

kr4ft3r 2022-10-04 08:24

@bredera @andrew-everage-s @matt-ravenhall thank you fellows for giving it a try. The thing is, there is a proper explanation as to why it resets every 10 steps, and that is the heart of our idea for this theme. The problem is that just finding out what the idea is takes a bit of exploring (though perhaps that is too much for an LD entry). Clicking the clock may reveal that it is not simply a game reset. Two general hints are 1) there are areas other than middle of the screen, and 2) some items can be clicked twice (as hinted by tooltip overlay which changes text) though this has to be consecutive, but I'd rather not reveal more for those who like solving what little puzzles we have out by themselves.

inksun 2022-10-04 09:46

The art style fit the game very well! Bravo!

dhim 2022-10-04 09:51

I have found why, is there an exact sequence of steps to do to "escape" ? Nice atmosphere, nice hidden stuff the backstory is very well convene through the little bits and pieces. Congrats!

angrybeard 2022-10-04 09:53

well i found out what the explanation behind the 10 second reset is :) very interesting take on this genere, would like to see a fully fleshed out game with the reset mechanic!

save-sloth-studios 2022-10-04 09:54

I've seen the video about the man I think this game is based on, and it's an extremely heavy topic. The art style fits it very vell! I think the number is barely visible and it doesn't really fit into the visual style, so that takes a bit out of this well crafted world. But otherwise nice work!

oadt 2022-10-04 09:55

Well, I managed to "escape" The interpretation of the theme was pretty cool and unique! I think more people get it than you might think but express it unclearly (I mean you just have to read a paper). The actions on the upper and lower screen (well and the final action) shook me, which is good! The art style is cool and fitting, though the noice sound is a bit harsh after a while.

I noticed one small bug. After "doing the stuff on the lower screen" and clicking on the window once, no matter what you click on next it will always behave as you clicked the window again.

melbadream 2022-10-04 11:17

Pros: - This game doesn't leave you indifferent. - The mood is very cohesive - I didn't find a bug (this is a first for all the games I've reviewed)

Cons / Feedback: - The solution was hard to find - I could not find it, ended up clicking on everything multiple times out of exasperation (which got me out of the game). In the end, I found the solution thanks to an hint in another comment... And it was the only dialog I hadn't seen even before my clicking frenesy. The text when going there and doing the action really made me think I was done with this "item") - The clock indicated UTC time, not local time. I'm not sure it's possible to do so, but it lessen a bit the impact of that part

talenvin 2022-10-04 11:35

A really interesting game. The concept is really fresh, and it is a good way to communicate such important subjects.

I think you really hold a nice concept that could be pushed way further.

(As you may know, some cool improvements could be on the global UX of the game)

Congratulations

eugenik 2022-10-04 12:41

Really nice looking game and fun to play!.

lejocarry 2022-10-04 22:10

Interesting concept :)

Feedbacks : - texts are hard to read (black&white on black&white) - sprites should have the same resolution

sohei 2022-10-04 22:23

Veery dark and depressing theme. My mental health is disturbed. You are a master of horror atmosphere.

ehon 2022-10-04 22:48

...that was dark. But honestly, I feel like too many jam games are just humor-based or pun-based, so it's really refreshing to see something serious and grim. Amazing mood and atmoshere, the art was really spot on too. Your take on the theme was unique and I liked it a lot. Got me thinking. I've seen that someone mentioned that there could be a small hint for the player for the puzzle somehwere (especially that you can click some areas more than once), not niecasaiirly in game but my suggestion is to maybe just add it in the entry description, so if someone gots stucks and checks the page they can see some small hints. Great entry overall!

bravelytyped 2022-10-04 23:28

Very atmospheric. I liked that there was a bit of a looping aspect to it that wasn't clear at first. Horror that makes your skin crawl without making you want to jump out of it. I liked this one a lot.

wouter52 2022-10-05 12:08

I cracked it I think. I won't spoil it for the rest but to prove it for @kr4ft3r.. The sons name start with a B.

I put 20 minutes in this one, I think this is very impressive for a game that started at sunday afternoon! The graphics are somehow fitting to the dark nature of this game. And the soundeffects are nicely done.

I love how you interpeted the theme completely diffrent than all the other games I played (including ours)

Only feedback I've got: - The last screens could have had some better fitting graphics I think :-) - Maybe the sleep action could have had more impact on the time displayed on the clock

m11 2022-10-05 12:37

Super atmospheric! Such an interesting interpretation of the theme...

rodolfodth 2022-10-05 13:22

perfect, what a mood you've set, really liked it and it got me right when I found it :P

sleepymenace 2022-10-05 14:01

Yeah, that was real good. Feel like I can't even go into detail without spoiling something, but I think when I finally solved it, I did it exactly the way you intended. Masterful clue placement, straight up impressed. Incredibly well done!

i-wrote-it-myself 2022-10-06 22:19

This game is great! I feel so disturbed right now, and that is good. Well done!

shumarie 2022-10-06 22:51

A very interesting story that falls into the Ludum theme. A good narrative in the game. I like that when going through the cycle, there is a development due to learning new facts. Art is very suitable for the subject of history. A very atmospheric work. I couldn't solve the riddle, but I liked the game.

pychewing 2022-10-06 23:14

It's neat! I'm a huge fan of escape rooms in general and so this type of game was really interesting to me. The mood was set nicely and the art, albeit looking a bit rushed given your timeframe, helped set the atmosphere. I think it would've been more interesting if things you moved were reset differently to give the sense of the memory lapse aside from the opening line. Also the 2nd line of looking out the window was cut off unless I went into fullscreen. Great job overall, especially considering how much time you had!

tero-pulkkinen 2022-10-07 05:17

I really like the art style. I might have done the same thing if that idea had ever crossed my mind.

diego-teran 2022-10-07 06:34

I enjoyed the mood. Also understanding what happens and the ending.

lukski-lukilj 2022-10-14 16:58

Took me a bit to realise that interacting with the same object multiple times can give different results, other than that had no problems finishing the game. I really loved the art style and atmosphere of the game and also the creative way you used the jams theme, making it the central mystery in the narrative and not just some gameplay element

adriangray 2022-10-16 18:56

Interesting game, feels a bit hard to find items, like the drawn art.

Would be nice to separate the things you can interact a bit more maybe?

Nice entry overall!

martynas 2022-10-17 13:22

Great way of conveying mood and an interesting narrative!

gamebuilder 2022-10-18 00:49

The artwork in this game is eerie and very striking. I like the feel of it. Very impressive. I gave this game a top score for mood. It seems to fit the theme well. I made some progress but could not figure it out — but I am not very good at this kind of game. Still, it was interesting exploring. Very imaginative.
